Blu Grotto at Monmouth Park
Thank you for choosing Blu Grotto. Should your plans change, please let us know.
Please note that due to limited indoor space and the uncertainty of weather, indoor/outdoor seating is sat on a first come first serve basis. If you have a preference as to inside/outside or a specific area of the restaurant please call the restaurant directly at (732)571-7900 and we will do our best to accommodate you. Thank you in advance for your understanding and we look forward to serving you.
Ate outside on deck....summer night.
Band was playing and that added a nice element to the dinner.
Service/ help was stretched - one server for too many tables.
Great atmosphere for a business lunch. Not too noisy, my comfortable setting. Food was good, could have used a bit more seasoning. Overall- good value
Our server Susan was great. Food was excellent
We love Blue Grotto. Food is excellent with good portions. Service always top knotch. Our server Valery was great.
The food was mediocre at best. Ambience and service were great.
The food was amazing. Delicious and innovative. The service was friendly and accommodating. This is definitely one of my "go to" places, especially for special occasions. The view is lovely and if you're not in the mood for a gourmet meal, the outside area has more casual menu choices, so it depends on your purpose for dining (or your wallet) on that particular night. By the way, the drinks were excellent. I had a glass of the white wine and it was delicious and perfectly cooled.
Love this place!
Very unusual dining experience on a Sunday late afternoon/evening in August. There are two different outdoor bar cocktail areas and another one indoors. The Beer Garden on ground level had a lot of activity while a band was playing. We chose to have cocktails on the upstairs outdoor patio which was more subdued but you could still hear the band playing. We then had dinner indoors in a lovely room with expansive views. The service was excellent. The food was very tasty and prepared as we requested. We ordered the Salmon and the Garganelli Bolognese. Excellent presentation. Both were delicious.
There was not enough wait staff. We were seated and waiting to be greeted and even offered water. We recieved our drinks after half an hour. Servers were very busy setting up the buffet they couldnt attend to guests. Hostess should offer water, coffee or drinks when we are seated.
We were a bit disappointed. We were under the impression that the cost for brunch included a few made to order items and were told when we arrived that you were only offering one, because it was too much work. If that is the case, the price should have been lowered. I asked for Tea and was told I would have to pay extra. Tea is the least expensive item to serve! The Bacon was practically raw and the food was cold. Many items were gone before we even got up to the buffet. We arrived at 11:00 and had to wait for the food to be put out. How could it be cold and nearly gone? It also would be nice if there were signs telling us what each food item was. Many people have allergies and need to know what they are eating. The service was also an issue. We were brought the wrong items many times and had to wait a long time for coffee and drinks. We understand that there was an event at the track this day and that was part of why they were having difficulties, but there really shouldn't have been so many problems. We will give the restaurant one more try, but not for brunch.
This was our 2nd time at Blu Grotto. The food is outstanding!! We started with the calamari, meatballs and the melted pecorino delicious. For dinner we had steak, pasta casa e pepe and bolanese it was wonderful and for dessert affogato 👌🏼. The service was excellent both times we’ve been like above and beyond excellent. We sat outside and the band was very loud so I think I prefer inside when having a date night or family meal where you want to talk. If just having dinner and would like to listen to the band the deck is great.
We enjoyed the Blue Grotto but after being at the track all day we were looking forward to a nice cool relaxing dinner. Loved the round room but had to move-- sooooooo very hot! Not good for eating when hot! Food, service was excellent. Asked and told air conditioner not working up to standards! Please fix the air! Told all others who were thinking of going-- make sure to call and ask-is the air working?
We weren't looking for a brunch on Sunday and sadly that is all we were able to have. That was the only thing we would have liked, to be able to order off a lunch menu. We'll still be coming back.
We were outside listening to the live band so for me the noise level was great
Food and service was terrific! I would highly recommend this to friends!!!!!!!! I would also def recommend to dine inside! It has a very pretty atmosphere! I can’t wait to go back!
It was a lovely evening sat outside on the top deck. Band was playing in the beer garden and It was still light out. Ordered a nice bottle of rose to enjoy with our entree’s duck, tuna and branzino. All entree’s tasted good but it was very hard to see them now that it was dark out. They definitely need better lighting not only at the tables but on the stage. You couldn’t see the the band members very well since the stage is set towards the back of the property Theres a huge bright TV screen on the lawn too bright and maybe shouldn’t be on while the band is playing. Once the band finished they had to bring a car over and use the headlights as lighting so they could dismantle their equipment. All in all it’s a beautiful place and I would go back maybe earlier so I can see my meal.
I love everything about this restaurant!!!! It is absolutely wonderful. Service is superb, ambience is perfection, food is delicious!!!!!
The food was very good. The service was good. I started with the tuna tartar and had the short rib meatballs over polenta (an app) for my entree. There was more than enough food! The building is interesting. The main seating area is a large sun room with a high ceiling. Very pretty. However, it isn't warm and inviting and it could be. We were seated next to a party of 12 and it was difficult to hear.
Like always : service and food was great. Hostess was great. Sorry To see Jill has move on. One of our favorite restaurant.
Great as always
great outdoor venue to see a band ......and the restaurant's is great too
Great Venue! Our experience was great from start to finish. Jill, the hostess, set the tone when we made the reservations and could not be more accommodating with our special request. The burrata appetizer is excellent as well as the short rib meatballs. Our entrees were very generous. The wine list is reasonable and the outdoor setting made a very pleasurable dining experience. We will be back.
Noted it was loud because they had a great band playing. Good food. Nice summertime spot to eat outside.
The service seemed to be okay, but when we got their the waitress said, I'll be right back with bread, she never returned with bread. 2 of us got pasta and were never asked for grated cheese and lastly the veal chop Milanese was very under cooked actually bloody when I got near the bone. I was very disappointed.
Great experience great staff EXECPT Jill the hostess .. you really need to have another person deal with the customers she is rude and actually lied to our party our reservation. Good news the other hostess was a doll. Food was excellent especially the octopus and our waiter made up for Jill’s rudeness
Went in line and indicated it was our Anniversary 6/28. Asked if they could present a small cake. Was told absolutely not an issue. Finished dinner and expected a small cake as requested. Received nothing. Server, mentioned Happy Anniversary. Upon leaving spoke to manager. Manager pulled up on-line and saw the request regarding Anniversary cake. Apologized. Gave us a $50 gift certificate. I appreciated it and told him this. Bottom line I was disappointed with miscommunication. Food only fair. My wife ordered strip steak for $38. Steak was VERY fatty. Had some. Brought rest home and ended up throwing out about 3/4 of what was served originally. Will go elsewhere in future.
Unique atmosphere. Limited menu . Good value . Food average . Service for not being very busy poor
Always a great experience!
Blu Grotto was amazing, food delicious and staff wonderful
The food choice was fair I did not think there was enough choices for a brunch. I suggest to add an omelette or carving station and or scrambled eggs at the least. The food that was there was good, except for the special of pork and sunny side eggs, this dish was flat and lifeless.
I have been to the Blu Grotto for dinner and it was good, but the brunch was not as expected for this restaurant.
I would recommend this restaurant for dinner, but not for brunch.
A fun new place to try, adjacent to Monmouth Race track, with separate entrance and ease of entry.
Restaurant was very pretty, food good, meatball appetizer, three course prix fixe value and selections were good. Area with outdoor band, Biergarten, seating for drinks and listening to band were all good, planning to try again on a nice summer evening.
Service was rude and incredibly slow with no crowd. Expensive and not worth it. Won’t be back.
GOOD FOOD IN A NICE ATMOSPHERE. EVERYONE ENJOYED THEIR MEAL. THE SETTING AND SERVICE WERE ALSO GREAT
We were impressed. Reception, service and food were excellent. we ordered from price fix menu
The food is excellent and the wait staff very friendly. But our waitress was rude and unprofessional. This was especially disappointing since we were celebrating a special occasion. Because of the unpleasant experience, my friends and I will not be rushing back.
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere! A true Monmouth county gem
It was a truly awful brunch. Food presentation was actually off-putting. Choices were few and not good- buffet was actually pathetic. Shrimp was rubbery and very wet, scrambled eggs were not properly scrambled before cooking - completely tasteless. Bloody mary had about three ice cubes in it. With tip it came to 48 per person - could have had a better breakfast in a local diner. This is the first time I have ever written a poor review for a restaurant. I led trips to local cultural destinations and eat out at least two times a month. This was by far one of the worst dining experiences. I would never return to the Blu Grotto!
We went for the first time for our 35th anniversary. Though I specified that in the reservation notes, I don't think anyone paid any attention to that. We were seated on the deck (per my request - which was also mentioned in the reservation notes, but ignored) immediately next to a very large, loud, and frankly obnoxious graduation party. It pretty well ruined the night for my husband. It would have been better for them to give us a heads up about the loud party, and offered us the option to sit inside. The service was quite good, and the food was great, except for the General Taos calamari, which neither of us cared for. We enjoyed the live music
I will give it another shot, if I can convince my husband to go back.
It is an excellent place to dine. The food is well prepared and wonderful presentation. The service is excellent as well
Excellent dinner service with food to match. Sat outside on the deck and enjoyed nice dinner music. Staff was very good.
