A relaxed wine-led rooftop restaurant with panoramic views of Manchester City Centre, a daily changing menu, and a cellar with more than 400 different wines to choose from.

Climat is the second site from the team behind Covino, who set up shop in Chester's historic city centre back in 2016. The team has since forged a reputation both regionally & nationally as a fiercely passionate wine-led restaurant with exciting daily changing menus.

Head Chef Luke Richardson best describes his style of cooking as 'Parisian ex-pat food' - a nod to his time spent cooking in the cosmopolitan kitchens of Paris.

As the name 'Climat' might suggest, our cellar of more than 400 different wines has a slight lean toward our favourite region of all - Burgundy. Outside of Burgundy you’ll find a healthy selection of other favourites from around the world, with wines from small producers, to the more iconic, and all the top vignerons that sit between.

For context: girlfriend’s birthday. 5:30pm reservation on a Wednesday. We were both utterly awestruck. Compared to other venues in the city within a similar price bracket I feel that Climat exceeds inexplicably. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with contemporary European music, the heartwarming smell of an open kitchen and a friendly smile from the FOH staff. Throughout our experience nothing was missed. Cutlery was replaced. Wine topped up. The food itself was an outstanding take on a contemporary British menu based on locally sourced produce and fresh seasonal ingredients with each dish being more impressive than the last, paired with the perfect wine recommended by the knowledgeable cellar master. You will be spoilt for choice with the wine list. The soft lighting and quiet din of the kitchen generated a comfortable ambience, even as the restaurant began to fill around 7pm. This was, without a doubt, worth every penny. My highest compliments to both the kitchen and front of house. Keep it up.

Fantastic evening- we had the chefs Carte Blanche tasting menu which was faultless. The open bar kitchen and views over Manchester give a great ambiance, and the staff were friendly and attentive. It was supported with a cocktail to start and good wine list- I am looking forward to returning!

Great food and definitely worth the money you pay. The hashbrowns are a must! Really appreciated the steady pace of everything, you don’t feel rushed and you are completely catered for. From helping choose good to always keeping your glass topped up. Recommend 6 dishes each, with two from the mains, for two diners.

Great food, service and wine! We decided to come here for a special meal and wasn’t disappointed. The servers are incredibly knowledgeable and went through both the food and wine menu. Can’t wait to come back in the summer and use the terrace !

Our favourite place in the city, for a special occasion or to take friends. Stand out food every time, friendly and helpful team, all in a laid back setting with the best views in town. Gochujang beef tartare is etched into my taste buds for life!

First time here after reading reviews. We were there on a November Saturday evening and it was full. We had a window table with a good view across the Manchester skyline. Noticed a large outdoor terrace too which would make it a very pleasant place to dine at lunchtime or on a summer evening. Ambiance very pleasant although the music was on the loud side. We're in our 60s and were the oldest diners there - so perhaps we're not the target crowd. Food was very very good. Beef tartare and the Lord of the Hundreds Gougeres were both absolutely divine, but that doesn't take away from the quality of the remaining food either and the prices were very reasonable for a high end establishment. We'll certainly go back. There was much Instagram-ing of food and venue going on from the younger diners! If I had any gripes at all it would be that the service felt a little rushed. It's in the nature of a small plates venue that food comes out as and when it's ready, but we ordered mostly small plates with a main to share and after only about 35-40 minutes we'd bee served (and eaten) everything but the main, so we could easily have been out within an hour, which doesn't really make for a romantic birthday meal (which this was). Also, I was asked when I booked if it was a special occasion so I said it was my partner's birthday. When we ordered a dessert to share it was brought out with a single, very cheap-looking candle in the middle. Like you'd buy in bulk and use on buns at a kids' party. It certainly didn't feel special. In fact we both laughed at the absurdity of it! These were all minor issues though and the overall evening was very enjoyable with some spectacularly-good food.

My friend and I dined at this gem of a place, choosing only vegetarian options, and were delighted. Every dish was superb, with flavours that hit just the right notes and incredible value for money. The staff were flawless—professional, friendly, and attentive, running a tight operation. The atmosphere was warm, and the service impeccable. It’s rare to find a spot that gets everything right. Outstanding. Date of booking: November 16th, 2024

Some interesting dishes. We had the bread, hash browns, choux pastry, cucumber tart, cep and mushrooms and then bass and a side of potatoes. Really enjoyed all of them except the cep dish which didn't really deliver. Service attentive and good choice of wines. Definitely recommend.
