The Twisted Oak
Food was amazing. It got a little loud. The service staff was very nice, knowledgeable on the menu and could offer recommendations. Would go again
Consistently great and imaginative food, good non-intrusive service.
The restaurant lived up to the stellar reviews I saw online. The truffled chickpeas are, indeed, out of this world. The green salad excellent. My husband said it was the best salmon he can remember having. My duck was very good, though I'd have liked a more flavorful/fruit oriented sauce and the croquettes that came with it were uninteresting. The ambience is very nice and we could have a conversation in normal tones for a change. Service is excellent.
Great dining experience, from appetizer to dessert. Highly recommend!
Food was amazing. Service was a little slow. A bit expensive, but food was really good. The white chocolate soup was wonderful.
Decent place - well presented, tasty food. Service was good. But when I asked if I could add some grilled chicken to a lunch salad, they said they would have to charge me the price of a full chicken dinner ($27). Really? As it was, the salad ($14) was the size of a side salad and while tasty, just did not do the job. So we ordered an extra appetizer and I still left hungry. I wish I could give it an across the board positive rating, but until they start providing more value, good/good+ is about all they get.
Food, service and ambiance are excellent. Portions are small and expensive.
Not very good. Took 20 minutes to get a drink, food was salty and just all around bad. Waitress was nice but had too many table and no help. Super disappointing.
1) They got my reservation mixed up a handful of times.
2) when discussing with the person in the phone that it was my girlfriends birthday, they were not very helpful when it came to any assistance or providing info on what they could do.
3) upon arriving, we waited quite a while before a waitress assisted us. Instead of taking our drink order, she mentioned taking the cake from us and then told us it would cost $10 ($2.50/person) to cut the cake.
4) when we were clearly upset about that, instead of taking our order, the waitress got one of the owners to tell us the same thing (cost of cutting the cake), not sure why the got an owner considering it made no difference and nothing changed.
5) We were extremely close to walking out on the spot but decided to stay only because we drove 25 minutes to go here. The wait for a waitress and food and drink was still quite long.
6) items on the menu weren’t available (chick peas) initially. My girlfriend ordered them and about 10 minutes later the waitress came back and said they did not have any.
7) courtesy of the chef they provided free bread and cheese which was nice but was likely due to it being obvious we were not happy (said it was for her birthday). Then eventually—chick peas became available; they did comp us them though.
8) Food was good but not worth the price
Overall, this was not a great experience. I do not plan on coming back here and regret making reservations here.
Small portions for the price.
Very hot night which made everything harder ... bottle of white wine arrived very warm and took an hour to chill, kitchen was backed up, waiter was surly, air conditioning was inadequate. The food was good, but not an enjoyable night.
Food and ambiance were very good. However, our server did not seem knowledgeable about some of the dishes, and forgot our appetizers.
One of the best meals I've ever had in my 20 plus years in the Tri state region. I hail from New Orleans with a very discriminating palate. This place is most definitely a rivertown gem!
The halibut ordered was EXTREMELY SALTY. The restaurant was out of the most obvious entre - the chicken!!! The salad was measly. We were not forewarned or informed either about the salt level of Halibut or that the salad was not even worth sharing.
Excellent French toast and delicious salad. A favorite restaurant of ours. Great chef.
We went for our Anniversary, the was awesome but we must have gotten to the restaurant late and never had a waiter and it took awhile to order drinks. Also, the volume of the music seemed high it being a higher end restaurant and not a bat. We would definitely go hear again, but did feel like it could have been a better overall experience.
Was amazing last time we were there. This time fair, duck lasagna was way too hot in the cast iron, had to wait quite a while to eat it and by the time I could the egg on top totally overcooked from heat coming off it. My husband done with his dinner before I had my first fork full. Everything a little too over seasoned but good, just not as good as first time.
Excellent food and cocktail selections. Very attentive service. Great for date night or special occasions.
Good service and food. Popular local spot. Menu changes based on what's available from local providers.
Good, not great. Nothing had an outstanding flavor. The room we were in was very dark, and the table of 8 across the way made it unbearably noisy.
Limited menu. Very overpriced for average food. Small portions. Waiter began evening fine and helpful. Somehow by end of night, he decided he was annoyed with us.
Other nice restaurants in Tarrytown- spend your money somewhere else.
It was our anniversary (let them know when making the reservation), they did not disappoint! They sat us at a wonderful table near the person playing music and once seated they brought us a glass of champagne!!! So thoughtful of them! The service was great! Food was out right on time and the dessert was delicious (def recommend the brûlée!) overall, another perfect dining experience there and we will be back.
We had dinner with friends and we had a wonderful evening with a lovely meal in a beautiful setting, with friendly as well as professional service. We will definitely return
I think the food is very good, fresh and inventive. The service was not very good, I had to flag someone down just to get water and they said, yeah I'll be right back...Several minutes later they came back. Our reservation was at 8:15 and the table was not ready but that is OK but my point is the restaurant was starting to slow down so no excuse for the service. I also think my dinner was overpriced. Delicious pappardelle, but $34 was $7-$10 too much. It said a dinner portion was more than the starter portion, that I understand but I should have taken a picture; it was not a lot of food for that amount of money. I cannot imagine how little they give you for $24 as a starter! Overall, this was a nice place with really good food but I would be hard pressed to go back. I would recommend it to friends with the caveats I provided b/c everything we ate was delicious but for $200 per couple, there are 6 other places I am going before I go back here.
Amazing, the food is superb! They staff is incredible. Took my best friend for a birthday dinner. It’s fresh and flavorful!
Will definitely go back. For us, traffic getting there was the only issue. Really enjoyed it; it has a unique feel. I read a complaint about the décor, but I liked it. Excellent service.
Very innovative menu with daily changing dishes. The food serving is nice at par with NYC restaurants and the waiters could always recommend a pairing of wine with food. Very attentive services.
Love this restaurant! Especially love the truffle chick pea appetizer. The seasonal menu offers locally sourced food and isn't repetitive.
Food and service were excellent as usual. Went for a birthday celebration and the restaurant is great for special occasions and everyday.
The food was quite good. Service was very friendly, but slow, especially given that we mentioned up front, and repeated, that we had show tickets and needed to get out in a bit over an hour. Portions were small-ish. And, we were right next to a very loud group, which hampered conversation. (Restaurant was pretty empty so hostess decision was puzzling.). Again, quality of food (and cocktails) was very good, and we would try again.
When we arrived the hostess was unable to find our OpenTable reservation and acted like we were not welcome there. She tried to sit at a hightop bar table, which was not what I had reserved. We did get seated at a table and the waitress was very nice. The food we had was good but left without ordering entrées due to the rude behavior of the hostess
Delicious, convenient, unique. Twisted Oak is the real deal and definition of farm to table.
Food was fantastic! Mike the chef is a wizard and so hospitable. Cory our server was very attentive and gave us great recommendations. Would definitely be back and bring all our friends.
Beautiful, unique taste -sensational service...outstanding restaurant.
Amazing food, amazing staff, very hospitable and friendly! Will absolutely return!
Fine dining on Main Street in Tarrytown. Walking distance to the Tarrytown Music Hall.
The food and the service were truly outstanding. 5 starts all the way.
My only complaint is that the music was a bit too loud.
Great food and great service. Waiter gave us excellent recommendations.
Excellent evening at The Twisted Oak. Chef is amazing, food was excellent. Staff could not be nicer or more attentive. We will def be back :)
