La Collina ALWAYS delivers in every way possible!! Food! Service! Ambience! Cocktails! My husband and I have a double date with our dear friends routinely every 4 to 6 weeks. When making the reservation, we ask for our favorite table! And when we arrive, we get very excited to see our table reserved for us and then the best part is the hot gorgeous delicious bread and it’s dipping sauce arrives quickly and we dive in. It’s so scrumptious.!!!

Everything was perfect, as we arrive 15 minutes early with one extra person and they seated us. We started with cocktails, then extra crispy calamari. That was totally yummy although I would’ve loved to have some tentacles included. We also shared and enjoyed the veal marsala with polenta and vegetables, along with tortellini. The service was superb and attentive! We ended up closing the place down and appreciate it not being kicked out. Thanks for being a great neighborhood restaurant!

Have been here before and enjoyed my meal. Was reminded that service was a little slow but if food is good, I can wait a little longer. Came here with the family for Mother’s Day dinner. Was looking forward to a nice meal. Ordered the bruschetta and calamari to start and all was good. Asked for more bread and it never came. Had to ask again for the bread. Minor. Food comes out: ordered linguine w clams, sea bass, risotto, and lamb shank. My guest asks for Tabasco (he likes his clams with it). Sauce does not come ( while his plate is in front of him) and we ask for it again. Waiter has the bottle of Tabasco with him and rudely states that he already asked while handing it to him. Strike one. We were not asking rudely and expect just a little better service at finer dining establishments. After that incident, service was good. Now for the food. All plates looked appetizing and delicious. Linguine w clams -bland. Sea bass- bland. Risotto- bland. Lamb shank-was tasty. ( wanted the veal Marsala but was told they had already run out at 6:30). We do not like things too salty, but a little more was needed. Strike two. I also remember that some pepper might have been nice in my lamb dish but none was on the table and I guess I was too hungry to ask. When I went outside to retrieve something from my car, I noticed other tables were getting the ground pepper from the owner, Rose, herself. I guess my table was not good enough to be asked if we wanted pepper from the waitstaff. Strike three. There is nothing really bad about the establishment. I frequent fine dining restaurants and I guess I expect a little extra in service when paying extra for food. Then when the food falls short, it is very disappointing. So-so food at higher prices? Then to offend my guest ? Bad combinations. Will take my family to other places for Italian food from now on.

We.'ve eaten there over the many years we lived in the area and were never disappointed. Having moved to the East Bay bur returning for school performance we decided to have an early dinner and were thrilled that the place remains as good as before. The drinks are generous (full bar) and the large varieties of Pasta all about $25. I had veal saltimbocca (rarely found at many small, local italian restaurants) which was excellent. Happy the place remains as a dependable local bistro.
