The Tulip and the Rose Cafe
We established The Tulip And The Rose Cafe in 2013 to bring quality food from around the world to Franklin.
From our humble beginnings grilling gyros at the Farmers Market to serving breakfast and lunch every day, catering weddings & hosting dinners for the Franklin Stage Company, The Tulip And The Rose is a place for the whole community.
Conveniently located near Oneonta, Delhi, Sidney and Treadwell, we hope to bring the flavors of Continental Europe, Southeast Asia, India and Turkey to the Catskills.
Exquisitely delicious! Loved those tapas! Recommend highly.
A unique cafe for Delaware CO, NY. Very delicious American Tapas were on the menu that evening. A must try if you like sampling various tastes and spices.
Very tasty tapas dinners as well as weekend lunch or brunch menu. Very friendly & attentive staff.
Varied tapas menu that changes 2xs each week.
A great food experience with varied different tapas offerings. However it would be good to be able to choose from a regular menu. Always enjoy this restaurant
In Franklin, there aren't many dining options, and so it's great that the town has The Tulip and the Rose. It's an attractive restaurant, with nice tiles. The staff was friendly. The menu changes, and I think we hit it on a night where the menu wasn't as strong as it usually is. The menu was described as tapas, but it wasn't a typical tapas selection. I did like my grilled shrimp on a polenta cake and a caesar salad. But some of my companions chose the chicken and corn waffles, and both the chicken and the corn waffles were very dry. Also, the small plates took a long time to come out, so while I was still hungry after my three shrimp and small salad there wasn't enough time to order another item before getting to the play we were going to see. I'd definitely recommend the restaurant, because it had a creative kitchen--but also because the only other option in town is a pizza shop.
Excellent, unique food. The menu is always diverse, and the staff are always pleasant. It’s convenient when attending performances at Franklin Stage Company.
Tulip and the Rose Cafe is a great place. Informal, yet lovely. Amazingly good food with creative cooking well executed and served. We had the Caribbean Tapas meal to share among three of us. Perfect amounts. Each dish was individually delicious. (Although, that opening chicken soup was incredible!) It was a fun per-theater evening for us. Great atmosphere and welcoming staff. Book a reservation.
I love the interior of this restaurant. It feels like being in the mideast, beautiful decorated with painted tiles on every wall.
We had brunch on a Saturday before going to a matinee at Franklin Stage Co. It was delightfully quiet and suited us perfectly as each member of the party had driven about 2 hours to get there. The food is beautifully prepared and delicious.
Great food, great prices and nice people. The menu is a little limited but you can always find something great to eat. Nice back garden if you prefer to eat outside.
We had a lovely supper outside on the porch and enjoyed the Carribean food. Service was great and the food is always superior. The dumpling/chicken soup was so satisfying!
One of the improvements I would make would to include wine on the menu. I really enjoy wine with my food.
Excellent environment; excellent food; imaginative menu.
Hands down the most delicious meal I’ve ever had. Everything was delectable and appealed to all the senses!
Unique and tasty dishes. Each week a different cuisine is featured so there’s always something new to try. They are also open to leaving out spicy ingredients if you want it that way. Beautiful decor inside as well as some outside seating. A gem in this area of upstate NY. Leave room for dessert!
Cozy space with colorful wall tiles and wooden tables. Friendly and helpful servers. Changing menu is high quality creative dishes from many cultures are a delight. Tasty and wonderfully presented. I have also enjoyed their offsite catering.
Fantastic food, beautiful space, excellent service.
The Tulip and the Rose was a wonderful place. A very welcoming staff and the food was tasty . I definitely would go again.
Great food, interesting atmosphere , fun and funky decor,
Delicious and beautiful! We had the chef’s tasting menu and each dish was incredible, I’m so glad we did it that way so we could try everything. We especially loved the minestrone soup, the arancini stuffed with chicken, and the duck prosciutto with melon. Oh, and the desserts! Baklava, pistachio cake, Turkish coffee—heaven in your mouth! And the price was very, very reasonable. We’ll definitely go back. Worth the 1 hour drive.
We had a chance to visit the restaurant when they were offering a special”Turkish Tapas” menu. The food was delicious, very authentic and perfectly seasoned. Service was friendly and made us want to come back to try their Sunday brunch
Always delighted with the service and the food. A "must try" if you are in the area.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We hope to see you again soon!
We had a great vegan meal and would go back again. They change the menu each week so you need to check the web site for the offering. Super service, no alcoholic beverages and you can't bring in any FYI.
Thank you for your kind words, we are glad you enjoyed your experience!
The menu we enjoyed was Cinco de Mayo Mexiacn specialities. The soup was peppery and a perfect introduction to the dinner. Salad was crisp, with fresh ingredients. Skewers of shrimp were perfectly cooked and accompanied by fresh green peppers and onions, together with charred Poblano pepper.
Salsa was made from scratch. Delicious. My companions enjoyed their tacos and enchiladas-both meat and veggie. Lemonade was perfect drink to beat the heat from the peppers. Baklava for dessert was excellent way to finish .
The theme menus, emphasizing the cuisine of a geographical region of the earth, are the way to enjoy their skills.
2nd visit and equally impressed both times. The meal was fantastic and the service was great.
Nice comfortable place. good food with excellent friendly service. the woman sever let us share our daughters birthday at the table....wow cool...
Open Table is outstandingly annoying if one has a need to change their reservation.
This is a wonderful place with amazing food from all over the world! The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Additionally, the decor is beautiful, I love the tilework!
This restaurant is a gem of fine cuisine nestled in the little village of Franklin. It offers a truly unique dining experience. Check the menu before going, as it changes weekly. It is also vegan friendly. And bring a bottle of wine or your favorite beverage, because it is byob.
Food was amazing! We have food allergies and the chef cameb our to personally speak with us to keep us safe. I highly recommend.
Very friendly staff and very accommodating to food allergies. Great variety of dishes you don't get to try everyday.
What a bright spot on a cold winter day! There were so many delicious things to choose from that we will definitely be back.
Great food, kind servers. The meal was delectable, the atmosphere was quiet andquints, it gave my boyfriend and I a chance to talk comfortably and enjoy our valentines dinner.
The food is amazing. The menu changes, so checking Facebook is wise if you are not interested in trying new things. There is variety in what is offered, and I felt I hit the jackpot on the night I dined there. I have craved international cuisine since moving to the area. So glad I've found this place!
Great spot! Delicious food and attentive service. I would go back without hesitation.
Very quaint, friendly waiter. The food is varied and was delicious.
This place is a gem and we’ll definitely be back. Great food and great space. Serves a variety of ethnic cuisines that are difficult to find in upstate New York.
Very good, international food. It's a dry town, so no alcohol with dinner here. The service was ok. Everything was slow even with a very empty dining room.
We were surprised, the Tulip and the Rose in Franklin is serving new menu's every week, the food is deliscious.
Really delicious food we did not expect to find! Influenced by many cuisines from the middle east.
Two out of three tapas were excellent
The seafood enchilada was filled mostly with rice, unable to taste any seafood.
