Located in the luxe Malmaison hotel in Liverpool's Princes Dock, the Malmaison Brasserie is a chic, cosmopolitan restaurant serving innovative and contemporary French food. Perfect for business lunches, special celebrations and romantic evening meals, the dining room at the Malmaison is a stylish study in chocolate browns and honeyed coffee tones, and features exposed brick walls, natural timbers and tiled flooring. When we arrived the person greeting was miserable and didn’t smile. Told us we weren’t booked in and made no effort to resolve. Young, miserable and inexperienced in hospitality. Had to show booking on phone, which was just as well else we would have been shunned. Food was cold. We wouldn’t have a dessert so went to MacDonald instead, was probably just as good.

Nice meal and great value. Staff were very attentive and polite. Only issue was the lighting! The spotlights in the restaurants are too bright to be pointed directly at the tables. I had a piercing bright light shining in my eyes for the whole meal, we would have asked to move but all the tables throughout the restaurant were the same.

Great meal at Malmaison Brassiere. We had a delicious meal from their prixe fix menu which was a fabulous deal with large portions. 25 pounds for three courses that left me stuffed. We managed to share two 3-course meals and a steak between 3 people and that was more than enough food. The staff was attentive and friendly; they knew it was my graduation and gave me complimentary prosecco to go with my dessert. Definitely recommend people to come for their prix fixe menu.

I told them it was my partners birthday and we were treated no differently service was appalling starter took at least half an hour to come out and it was just bread and oil - I asked 3 times for a glass of water and never got one until meal meal came when I pretty much had to beg for one - steaks were terrible - the sweet waitress knew I was not happy as she kept repeatedly asking me if I liked my meal overall I paid £80 for a meal that was not up to scratch at all this restaurant is nothing like they have advertised I felt like I ruined my boyfriends birthday by going here I’m so disappointed.

Terrible service and poor food. The waiter could not speak good english and the manager never gave anyone any time as he didn't look like he cared about the food or the people paying.

Not happy with food at all for the price we paid, no value for money, service was OK Ordered a rare stake and got a medium well, pasta had a bite to it, calamari was tough and chewy, ordered a bottle of Prosecco and we received it on a wobbly ice bucket stand, ordered a cocktail and received it after 40 minutes after reminding the waiter, I guess it was not our day to have an amazing evening out, which we thought we would have, however we will never ever go back that is for sure, shame.

Restaurant let down by being far too cold. Problem they said with air conditioning but took most of meal to work out the heating needed to be turned up! Service slow. When drink and food arrived it was good quality. If the above was sorted I would have rated it higher.

Enjoyed afternoon tea with 3 friends using a Living Social voucher. By far the best I've had. Delicious & plentiful. Jacob, our server, couldn't do enough to help & all with good humour. Clearly passionate about customer service. Looking forward to our next visit.

Nice food in a nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the maitre d' responded very quickly to an observation about the cleanliness of the ladies toilet. Overall I would eat here again.

Malmaison managed to fit us in last minute for our works Christmas Do after the restaurant we'd booked months before had to close unexpectedly on the day! We had a great night. Food, service and ambience were spot on. Thank you to all the staff who helped made our night perfect.

Malmaison was the perfect venue for our dinner with colleagues at a conference. Although there was a mishap with the reservation, they were extremely gracious and gave us special attention and even sat us in the private dining room. The maitre'd Curtis was extremely attentive and helpful - and of course the food was fantastic. We all highly recommend the sea bass!

Went to Malmasion to celebrate wife's birthday as I had heard good reviews about the restaurant The service was good with nice friendly staff and food was good quality and very well presented. We had a bottle of wine with our meal which was pricey but enjoyable. Overall a very enjoyable experience

Waited an hour after ordering food before it arrived. Other people who arrived after us where eating long before us (and the same items we ordered) Waiters apologised three or four times for the slowness although never offered explanation or even anything off. Everything on the menu and drinks had an extra 12.5% added automatically for service. Was surprised this wasn't removed due to delays.

This was my first time in Malmaison for my birthday and found the service faultless. From the booking itself we were running a bit late and when we phoned up they were very friendly and accommodative. When we arrived we were greeted by the same person who answered the phone who took us to our table and also checked up on us throughout the evening. The food and drinks came very promptly and was lovely.

Poor experience overall and probably won't be going back. The starters were okay but my girlfriends tempura was soggy. For main my Thai chicken was very bland indeed and I had asked for extra chilli but nothing was added at all. The wine was nice but in this environment I do not expect to have constantly pore my own.

The restaurant is lovely within great decor. The food was of a top standard. However when we ordered our dessert it arrived and we waited for our cutlery to arrive. We were the only people left in the restaurant! We would still go back again as the food was superb!

This was my first visit to the Brasserie Malmaison Liverpool. The restaurant is located inside the Malmaison Hotel, on Princes Dock, Liverpool. I arrived about twenty minutes ahead of schedule but was warmly greeted & swiftly seated. My host escorted me to my table and handed me the menu. I had read that there was a set menu on offer, but was not permitted to have this as it was meant for hotel guests only. Starter: Fritto Mistro A selection of seafood in a light batter, with courgette slices, also in batter. Served with garlic mayonnaise & a sweet chilli dipping sauces. Main Course: Calves Liver, Bacon & Mashed Potato Liver was served well done or pink (I chose the latter), with bacon & mashed potato. I opted for a side dish of wilted spinach. Dessert: Lemon sponge with winter fruit and served with whipped cream. The starter was fresh, tasty and very well presented. The batter was light & did not overpower the dish. The two dipping sauces were an excellent accompaniment. The main course was very tasty & cooked to perfection, with a very pleasant ju. The mashed potato was light & fluffy (exactly as I like it) & my wilted spinach (a very decent sized portion) rounded off the dish very nicely indeed. My desert was lovely, light & very pleasant indeed. The ambience of the restaurant was pleasant enough. There was a decent amount of background music, which was enjoyable. As I dined alone, I brought a magazine to read & didn't feel out of place. Service was decent enough from a range of people. Nick was my main server. Whilst pleasant enough, wasn't really communicative, but that was possibly as he was busy. My final bill came to £38.50 as it included 10% service. I'm personally not a fan of having this included, but as it happens, the service I received overall deserved the charge. I'd have no problems recommending this place to anyone, as food is decent enough. Would I return again? Whilst it wouldn't be on my "must go to list", I'd return if I was in the area.

A very enjoyable evening in lovely surroundings. The menu is interesting with varied brasserie style dishes I particularly enjoyed the Shrimp Lettuce Taco starter - which was light and piccant. I followed this with the Tuna Mignon which was really excellent.. Perfectly seared. I can also particularly recommend the Truffle mash! My partner found the Frito Misto a bit large although he did enjoy his burger very much. An excellent meal.

Stayed at Malmaison for a couple of nights and decided to have my dinners here. I ordered the roast cod and tuna mignon, both of where very fresh and delicious. The desserts were spot on as well. Service was overall good, except one night when they were really busy and severely understaffed, which resulted in a slow service for every diner.

We visited on Saturday 2nd August to celebrate my wife's birthday. Staff were very friendly and the menu was unique. The food that we ordered was cooked to perfection, there was also a good selection of wines. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. We will definitely book again.

It was the weekend of the 'The Giants' and anticipating everywhere being very busy booked I a 'special offer' 2 courses plus wine £39.00 I specifically told the waiter this as we were shown to our table, however we were only given the a la carte menu. I asked for the offer menu and really felt that they did not want us to order from this. First course arrived - mediocre, and then after waiting for 45 minutes for the main course and everyone else around being served, eaten their dinner and left it finally arrived. Wish i had not bothered to wait! Very disappointing as I actually like the hotel but will have to think carefully if I want to stay or dine there again

Recommended as one of the best restaurants in Liverpool, we booked a family meal at Malmaison to celebrate our son's graduation. The staff were pleasant and polite, they were happy to let us have a drink in the bar before going through to eat. The menu is excellent and the food was exceptionally good - in fact I would happily have given the Malmaison Brasserie a full 5 star rating for everything, if it was not for the fact that the service was unbelievably slow. I do not believe this was a reflection on the waiting staff who were deeply apologetic. I can only conclude that the kitchen was unable to cope with a very busy night. After an hour and a half we had only had one course. A real shame that rather spoiled a very special occasion.

Took the family to celebrate our daughter's graduation from university - the service was friendly (but very slow) and the food was adequate although not special.. With two courses & one bottle of wine (not an expensive one) the bill for 5 was £200 for which seemed expensive. Unlikely to either recommend or return

Went for Sunday afternoon for dinner was a bit confused about were to go had to ask at bar staff ! When we went to desk had to wait a little while then someone Came over and sat us at table staff was a bit slow and when we got told to help ourselves to chefs table was appalling !! Flies all over food felt that it should of been covered over so never really had anything of it as looked dry and flies put me off then we ordered the roast was told the meat was slightly pink ? Well it was alive and could hardly eat much ! Over all was very bad , first time we had come and the last would not go again !

Although we had a lovely meal the staff seemed quite new and were not yet up to speed with menu choices. Lamb was delicious. House wine not one to choose, we were able to chose an alternative and pay more on our special deal.
