Queen Mary Royal Sunday Brunch
Great food and service. Just very pricey for brunch.
The ship is a bit run down but the buffet makes up for it. Amazing food and good service. A bit pricey but seafood is so fresh that you cant argue too much.
We had friends from out of town and they wanted to go to Sunday brunch so we took them to the Queen Mary and they were very impressed. Their food is always excellent.
Excellent. Overwhelming it is so complete. Reservations are essential. Dress up a bit and enjoy the experience.
I think this should be on everyone's bucket list to go to at least once. It is amazing. We have gone to a lot of buffets because we like the choices but this beats them all. It was awesome to walk in and see where all of first class ate during the ship's heyday. It is a beautiful room and the stations are centered near the middle. There was a stage where a guitarist and bass guitarist who also sang, entertained us with songs from the 30's to the 50's. This certainly added to the ambiance. They were constantly pouring both glasses of champagne and mimosas. There was also a bar set up where you could get other drinks such as a bloody mary. Coffee and teas were also available. They realized it was our 15th anniversary so we got a really good table near the stage and the food stations. Also the maitre d' came over to personally congratulate us. There was all kinds of food available. Visited the breakfast one first where the applewood bacon was done to perfection. I teamed it up with an eggs benedict which melted in my mouth. The corned beef hash actually had cubes of corned beef brisket cut up in it. Next I went for seafood with the crab legs, peeled shrimp, shrimp cerviche, and smoked salmon with capers. I must admit the salmon was delicious and did not taste fishy at all. Next I made my way to the salads which were different and tasty. There were other stations that my husband went to such as the carvery which had turkey, tri-tip, and prime rib. Also available were omelettes, waffles, grilled cheese, chicken fingers etc. Everything tasted better than any other place we had been. We felt like we were in heaven. What a special place to spend a special day. Needless to say and didn't mean it to be last but the staff is just as good as the food. Attention was their motto.
It was great but the table service was a little slow
Even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait 20 minutes in a VERY crowded waiting area. The service staff was very friendly. Some of the food was cold. The beat item was the coffee and sushi.
Our group looks forward to brunch, we go often, and this was supposed to be a special occasion. All in all it was almost an ok experience, but for the price we paid, we expected much more. Disappointed actually.
Parking was difficult, but that was to be expected as there is construction going on. There were no attendants to indicate where to go or where it was acceptable to park.
We had a reservation. Not only did we arrive a bit early, but we were made to wait a while for our table - located in a crowded area which made it difficult to get up and move around. There was no good view. The entire place needs to be refurbished. It's looking a bit shabby and feels like it should be cleaned with a bit more attention to detail.
Service was lacking. We were never offered water. We had to request it more than three times before we got a glass. Champagne was rarely offered. We had to request it constantly. We asked for an additional set of silverware since it was missing at the table, and didn't get that. We were not offered coffee at the end of the meal and didn't bother asking because we figured it wouldn't arrive and if it did, it would probably be weak and lukewarm.
The food, mediocre. Yes, there was plenty, but we wanted quality not quantity. For example, something as simple as tamales were dry and inedible. The server at the carving station greeted you with a frown, not a smile. The only salvation... desserts if you enjoy sweets.
Don't be fooled by the photos on the website. These must have been taken during special occasions The Queen Mary prepares for because the presentation of the food was nothing like that. Ice sculptures? Nope... not a one. I hate to write this, but it was more like a HomeTown Buffet (if you remember those) than a royal brunch setting.
We went, had our brunch, but will never return. There are many other locations for a wonderful brunch at around the same cost with better quality food, service and ambiance.
Birthday brunch for 8. The variety was good. Eggs Benedict over An untoasted muffin was kind of sad. I enjoyed the sushi.
We had a great experience. Love the Queen Mary. The service was excellent. The food was very good.
We went for our Anniversary. The wait staff was good. The food was mostly good but the shrimp and crab did not taste fresh. Not spoiled but just not fresh. The food selection was nice but we thought a bit pricey. We enjoyed the location and the live band was really good and added to the experience.
Wonderful food and huge selection of different things. Really enjoyed it!
Great Sunday brunch
I had heard from friends that this was an amazing brunch-so I was a bit disappointed when I checked in to find the price had risen to $69 w/out champagne a couple of months earlier. The band was great and the singer reminiscent of a young Frank Sinatra. The food was good but not great and lacking in variety ie. eggs benedict and not eggs florentine etc. Although, I had requested a quiet table we were seated by a table for approximately 20 people (so loud). No view except the parking lot when we stood up. If you do go, request a table on the ocean side or in the middle of the dining room so at least you can see and appreciate the ship's beautiful ceiling and murals.
Servers were on task in offering coffee, juice, mimosas and champagne. The buffet had so many choices from standards to premium cuts of meats and a variety of seafood. I really loved the jazz trio, they played standards and even took requests.
This is so fun. The food is great and the service is so wonderful.
The while experience does not justify the price tag
I've been looking for a good brunch spot for awhile Tried several local places and while they were "ok" they were NOT great. That ended with the Queen Mary. A couple month ago a friend told me that the Queen had started doing Brunch again. We went for his Birthday and have been back 3 times since. Absolutely the best Brunch in Long Beach.
I cant rave enough about our experience. The food was exceptional and the service was top notch. I am a stickler about dirty plates left on the table for a long time . Every time we got up our table was cleaned and dirty plates were whisked away. The waiter kept the coffee, ice tea, and champagne flowing !! Never had to ask ! The best service I think I have ever encountered.....If I had one suggestion, it would be to have a dress code. I saw some tshirts and flip flops. Really looked out of place for a more elegant Sunday brunch aboard the Queen Mary ! ...We will be back as soon as the budget allows !
would be nice to know the price of brunch before going. prices were not on website. $70 is waaaayyyy too much for a brunch and you dont even have caviar. will only go again if someone else pays for it
The best buffet I have ever been to. Regardless of being a brunch or any type.
It was overpriced at $69 for brunch with no mimosa and $79 for brunch with. But the food was good and the servers great. The live music was super dorky. I liked the ambiance the most.
The Grand Salon is a beautiful old room, the wait staff is very attentive, and the variety of foods was amazing.
Always a good time. Our new anniversary tradition!!
Food, Service, Ambiance, Music and Value. Spectacular!!!
Lovely experience and very enjoyable for our group, young and old.
Food was fabulous. Service wasn't so good. We had to ask for water refills several times. The table next to us was extremely loud. We couldn't talk at times.
I don’t really know what to say. My daughter visiting thought this would be a special brunch. It was special in al the wrong ways. The review is moot I plan on contacting management directly.
Outstanding. Have no complaints. Cant wait to return.
Absolutely lovely Sunday Brunch with family. Champagne was flowing and the food was scrumptious.
The bread and other food items were stale, we had to ask several times for coffee and cold drinks, none of the dessert items tasted good, they forgot it was my friends birthday, way to expensive for the food they served. $79 for the amount of food and type of food they had was not worth it. Would not recommend the food. For $79 one would expect fresh food with many options but honestly the buffet options next door (reef) is more attractive and costs less.
Expected so much more than what they gave, no ice sculptures, small amount of selections, not the same quality as I remember from so many years ago, really sad to me, will not go back
Food is overprice for what you can get at any other buffet. They need to update their menu. It's been about 5 years since our last visit and it's still the same!! If we didn't get to walk the ship after the buffet I would be very upset. That at least made up for it, but barely.
This was our first time at the Royal Brunch and we were impressed. We were provided with a wide variety of food. Everything was nicely presented and delicious. Our wait-staff was very attentive and friendly. We will be returning soon! The only thing that could be improved upon were the staff members that handle the parking validation. They were not friendly at all and as the last staff members that you deal with, they should leave a positive lasting impression.
This was a wonderful experience. The food selection was spectacular, and the wait staff was attentive without being obsequious. The music was classy and not intrusive. Looking forward to our next visit.
My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. We were both very pleased.
Fabulous. Our server Maria made my birthday a special experience.
Loved the entire experience! Great food, beautiful room.
A fabulously delicious brunch! The ambiance is unsurpassed! The live music echoes throughout the dinning hall, the delicious food is perfectly displayed, and the service is impeccable. I highly recommend in celebrating a specialty occasion with brunch at the Queen Mary. Worth every penny!
The food was delicious and beautifully presented.
