Utilizing techniques inspired by classic culinary craftsmanship, Gather in downtown Berkeley features organic local produce, pizzas, sustainable seafood, and humanely-raised meats that showcase the unique abundance of Northern California. We have a balance menu of meat and vegetarian offerings, craft cocktails, and local, sustainable wines. The experience is served up in a warm ambiance informed by honey hued reclaimed woods literally “gathered” from the surrounding area. I’ve been looking forward to this place as I’ve heard good things and was eager to try it once I get a chance to go out without kids. Unfortunately they fit right in the trend of the Bay Area restaurants where the food quality has gone down after the covid and with it, the service. The waitress didn’t seem to care to provide us with a nice experience, our wines were swapped and her eyes almost rolled a couple of times and the food was just overcooked and just ok for the price. I understand that being right by the campus the younger generations drive the clientele statistics, and come for pizza, thus they don’t care about a good dining experience, but the list of exciting places worth going to, on a night when you’re finally able to get a childcare, is very short in the East Bay. For us older ones coming from the grand times of dining in the Bay Area when eating out was fun and enjoyable and exciting, and the servers had to be professional and friendly to earn their 20%, those days are over.

Gather always pleases. We stopped in before the theater performance & had a fabulous pizza & salad, and, of course, a cocktail. Service is friendly & efficient, restaurant is airy (has outside seating and comfortable inside seating.) We'll become regulars.

We had a great dining experience at Gather. We decided to try it out before a show at the Greek Theater. It was an easy walk to the venue after eating. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent! I ordered a corn chowder and salad. Both were delicious. My companions ordered a burger, pizza and caesar salad. All were delictious. We all agreed that we would happily return to Gather.

Good food, as always. Salad and dessert could have been a bit bigger. Very noisy, and with that, a yelling waiter.

Highly recommend for food and ambiance. Wonderful live bluegrass band really added to our birthday brunch celebration. Food was clever and excellent. I really enjoyed the chickpea patty with eggs and my cappucino was excellent. Only wish you could offer more dessert options! Already planning a return visit to have the pizza. We did not order but saw many tables ordered the pizzas and they looked wonderful.

Hi, I had to change my reservation to a later time and asked for a table outside and we were accommodated! It was lovely. I really love the decor and the vibe of this restaurant. The twinkly lights outside are great. My summer cocktail was good. I also really enjoyed our summer salad of tomatoes, corn, cucumber and mozzarella with edamame - the dressing was just delicious. The meatballs were yummy, but the sauce was too spicy. We also had the long beans which were good that came with a yellow paste of some sort and a red Chermoula which was also spicy, but good. We got the broccoli pizza which had a good crust, but a really bitter aftertaste. Our server, who was training someone (she was lovely), the hostess and others were really kind. One woman who came to our table a few times was not great, short with us and not so friendly, but everyone else was super nice.

The food had no taste. They forgot two meals. Forgot the Tahini on our two quinoa bowls. Service was lackluster. So sad because the food and service used to be so good.
