Ruth's Chris Steak House - Westchester
Over the years I have been to Ruth's Chris many, many times and in multiple locations across the country. At all the various locations it is typically the same (if you are a fan of the 'big' steak house genre) ... very good. However I cannot say the same about last night's meal. I was disappointed in the steak, split the porterhouse. Knowing it was being split they usually slice the whole portion, that was not done. The lyonnaise potatoes, a Ruth's Chris staple, tasted ordinary at best. For the prices charged, I was rather disappointed.
Ordered the NY Strip - Medium Rare...steak was served barely cooked to the point where I put my finger on the inside of it and it was COLD, sent it back and didnt want it back as it turned me off...also my son's Ribeye was tough and too fatty (couldn't have been prime)...very disappointing as we chose this place over Mortons in Whitle Plains because it was in the hotel...will not return, very bad and my steak was ecoli waiting to happen..service was good however hence the only stars supplied...
Tonight was the rare occasion they were off the game, just a little bit. Perhaps compared to the last time when we had the cowboy ribeye, the NY strip tasted just a bit less than overwhelmingly good. the texture and the flavor of the meat just was a little bit off. I ordered medium rare like I normally do so I am not sure why. My wife's Filet was perfect however.
Outstanding waite staff (Jennifer)
Always guaranteed a great meal. Service is impeccable. Frank & Mike represent waiters at their best!
Excellent food, service and ambiance as always
It was my father’s 91st birthday, and there were some decorative birthday items on the table. He had asked our server if he can have some more of these items and the server said next time!? My father is 91 years old and the server couldn’t give him his request?! This is the reason for the 4 stars rating that was given.
Best garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach! I don’t even need to comment on the steak!!
I Always go to the one in nyc but Tarrytown was just as good. Everything was great including the waitstaff. However, the grade a quality of the nyc steaks are exceptional.
My sister’s birthday
Tried their tomahawk bone in ribeye special for two and the featured
Caymus wine. Excellent value for the combo. Steak cooked perfectly and the wine was a great pairing. All in all another great dinner
The staff was wonderful; very pleasant, eager to help, and gave a great wine recommendation. The porterhouse was amazing- melted in my mouth.
What was once the quintessential awesome place to go for a high end dinner, has kind of rolled backwards into the franchise mode, akin to a high-end Applebee’s. The food is still decent, but has certainly gone downhill as they most likely look for profits first, over food quality. The steaks are still very good. The sides are nothing short of average, as they’ve frequently changed. The soups and salads are still decent, as well as the appetizers. What I can say, is that the level of food quality has diminished. It used to be that u would walk out of Ruth’s Chris knowing that you just had a meal on a level that u can’t just get anywhere. Now they’ve become a step above the average “high end” franchise type restaurants. Trust me as I say this with a heavy heart. I am from New Orleans, and lived just down the Street from the original Chris’s Steakhouse and I know the story well. If only you could’ve been privy to the outrageously good food that Ruth came to know and love, and hence invested in the place. Now that she’s gone, I think the venture capitalists who are the investors, don’t care as much as she did, and it’s more of a business for them now. The lingering question first & foremost of an investor, is “how can we make more money”, “how can we make Ruth’s Chris more profitable”..... If u want the great steakhouse as u should come to expect one to be, go to Del Frisco’s Double Eagle in NYC. NOT the Del Frisco Grille’s. They’re a lower quality version of the actual Del Frisco Steakhouses. I loved Ruth’s Chris for years, but they’ve definitely gone down hill.
The food was excellent and the service was, too. Great experience.
It was unfortunate that the fire alarm rang just as our food was being served and the restaurant was evacuated. We left.
Great service ! Great food!
Reliably excellent service and food. Never disappointed. Even the sides are terrific.
Food was great! Service was great! Worth every penny!
Delicious food and friendly staff
Outstanding as always, for our 54th anny. !!!!!!!!
Noisy, Dirty, Crowded and poor service- about sums it up. Not a typical Ruth's Chris- wont be back! Food quality was usual for Ruth's Chris nothing else was close to acceptable. Service was the worst part so could not even find a manager to explain my concerns. AVOID THIS PLACE
Everything was great!! Until we ordered couple of hot tea with our dessert and I was disappointed with Lipton tea brand. I didn’t use and drank just hot water. Then later I realized I was charged $10 for the 2 teas. Now looking back, I would’ve said something (I drank the hot water, would you be OK not charging me the $10?). We’ve talking about it for 2 days so it definitely bothered us. Otherwise the visit was wonderful. We normally go to Fleming’s I’m Edgewater bit Ruth Chris is closer. Thank you.
Everything was excellent! Our waiter Frank, as always was on point. Looking forward to heading back soon.
Everything was excellent! Our server, our food...amazing! We’ll be back
We went here because we had a gift card. The meal cost almost twice the value of the card including the tip. It did not feel like such an expensive meal. For the entrees to cost as much as they do and come wout sides is ridiculous. The cocktails were extremely expensive. While the steaks were very good everything else was mediocre. And the decor needs a facelift. We were disappointed and will not return.
Ruth always does it right. It would be nice to shave the price a little, but you get what you pay for.
We had a great time celebrating our birthdays. The location of our table was right in the middle of a high traffic area, so we kept getting bumped and they ran out of Creamed Spinach! .
But all in all a great meal.
It was a rainy Father's Day. We called to say we'd be five minutes late. We then waited over 30 minutes for our table for four. Our servers LaToya and Sal made it worth the wait! They were attentive, personable and sincere, more than making up for the extensive wait, and, through their manager, even offered us complimentary desserts for the inconvenience. Our Cowboy ribeyes were not as outstanding as in past visits; They were somewhat tough and lacked flavor, but, thankfully, our children thoroughly enjoyed their filets. The side dishes (creamed spinach, potatoes au gratin and sweet potato souffle) were their usual delicious! Our son's french fries were simply standard fries. Will we return again? Most likely, Yes!, in part to LaToya and Sal for adding a nice sparkle to my husband's Father's Day celebration.
My wife and I had the Tomahawk steak for the first time and we weren't that impressed with it. It was tasty however a little chewy. Would not get this steak again. Definitely, not as good as their bone in rib eye. The other thing is they were running a Fathers Day special $25 certificate for next visit which they run on Mothers and Fathers Day each year. This is the second time we had to ask for the certificate and were not given it automatically. Shame on Ruths for this as you should not have to ask.
Ruth's Chris was packed for Father's Day. The wait staff was very frenetic. We were the only table in a room assigned to a server outside of our room and were ultimately forgotten at times as he was busy with the guests on the outside of our room. Why we were the only table in the room which had two servers who were not responsible for our only table is puzzling. When we were attended to, we received our orders as requested. The quality of the steaks and side dishes were delicious and the recommended wines were a good pairing. The other mishap was when we received our bill and management had difficulty applying the open table rewards. Somehow, this new rewards system is not as efficient as the previous voucher system.
Father’s Day dinner- fantastic
Frequent this steakhouse and Food is always great! Ordered the scallops for the first time and they were just ok.. seared well although it lacked that well seasoned taste that Ruth’s Chris is well known for. It did however work out well for me as I am watching my sodium intake. So no real complaint!
Lobster tails were perfectly made, stuffed chicken is always delicious as well as the steak (bone in preferred).
Lobster Mac, cream spinach and sweet potato casserole is nothing short of Amazing. Service is always A+
One of hubbies favorite places to dine. There are times where we dine there two to three days consecutively.
Also, reheating leftovers (in oven, not microwave) are even more delicious as all the seasonings have settled, lol
Father’s Day visit with family. First time at this location. Restaurant was not as busy and staff was attentive and polite (although lack of experience and proper training was obvious and at times uncomfortable).
Unfortunately, quality of food did not match the $400+ bill. Appetizers were o.k. (Great calamari + below average stuffed mushrooms). Steaks were unfortunately disappointing. Temperature was off on all of them (overcooked filet and undercooked ribeyes). Quality of meat was equally off with ribeyes being very fatty and not properly butchered (three ribeyes were different thickness and size with fat exceeding 1/4 of portion). Side dishes were good.
Overall, experience was much below expectations and as compared to a decent NY steak house (PL’s, Keens, Sparks, Benjamin’s). Will not return.
Amazing from start to finish. Chris made my fathers day with my dad wonderful!
It was great ! Server was super kind and knowledgeable of the menu
I was a little disappointed w the steak- my fiancé and I ordered a porter house for 2 and it was pretty small for the price- prices at $105 I would have expected a nice size- also we had asked for the steak to be cooked medium and it was pretty rare..... I would expect at that price point to get what I asked for at a steak house.
The service was beyond- our waitress was sensational and very nice. She was probably the best part of the experience- it was my fiancé's Bday and she put confetti on the table and brought a complementary dessert. Which was super sweet!
I probably wouldn’t go back..... there are other places on the same scale that have better food.
We dined at Ruth Chris for two very special celebrations for my parents (Milestone Anniversary and Birthday). The Service, food and ambiance was perfect. The menu had options for a 3 course, fixed menu selection and al a cart - which our 6 diners participated in a mix of both. The fixed menu was abundant and a great value. The al a carte was also wonderful. Highly recommend.
I got a call a day before my reservation to confirm and ask if this was for a special occasion. It was for my mother in law's birthday, I informed them. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed like family. The table was decorated with birthday glitter! The waiter was extremely polite and professional. Then the food arrived! Oh my goodness! My salad had a delicious variety. My steak and lobster tail were butter soft and absolutely delicious. The wait staff removed the shell for me. My vegetables were roasted to perfection with a balsamic glaze. The dessert was out of this world and they provided a candle for Mom! I wish I could afford to eat here weekly!
We were celebrating several milestone events in our family. Our daughter graduated from high school, my wife reached a milestone birthday and I had a birthday, as well, all within 10 days. So, we invited some of our favorite cousins for what we hoped would be a nice dinner. And it was! The restaurant was busy, but the service was excellent. Although our cousins had an issue with their porterhouse steak the staff quickly provided another which they enjoyed. Everyone enjoyed their drinks, entrees, side dishes and desserts. So, we left Ruth’s Chris feeling great about our entire experience that night.
