Terrible service. Confirmed booking via text, had confirmation back, then had call next day chasing confirmation. Arrived, table not ready, no service at the bar. Booked 3 course menu, handed normal menu, had to show booking to finally receive correct menu. Then charged £1 seating charge plus 12.5% tip.

On entering an empty restaurant, I was surprised to have the waiter insist on seating us at a table next to the only other guest when the rest of the restaurant was literally empty. For a steakhouse the steak was inedible, the order was brought out wrong on more than one occasion and the staff were all quite dismissive and rude. Not a place I’d go back to.

I have to say to whole experience was very underwhelming from the moment I arrived, the food and service. Although I had made my reservation through OpenTable and had an email confirmation the staff had no record of my booking. To add to that it definitely felt like the staff did not believe me and made me feel very uncomfortable in front of my guests. The food was pretty standard, but what made it even worse was the staff were so miserable, no smiles and everything felt like an inconvenience.

The venue is well laid out and intimate. The staff are efficient and courteous. Choose from either the limited set menu at £30 per head or the more expensive "a la carte" menu. Problem is that you have to make that choice when booking; obviously I went for the "a la carte"; menu; that was my first mistake and you will see why later in my review. I ordered the mackerel pate to start and the beef wellington to follow. They had a good selection of Portuguese wines and any one of them would be an excellent accompaniment to the beef wellington. The waiter scuttled off with our orders, then 5 minutes later.... First disappointment: "We have none of those wines sir, they've all run out". I chose an Italian Primetivo as an alternative, still delicious albeit more expensive. The waiter scuttled off with my amendment, then 5 minutes later.... Second disappointment: "We have no mackerel pate, sir, it's all run out". I thought that was a little odd as we were 3 of six patrons in the restaurant. I chose the potted duck pate as an alternative; boy was that a let down. It tasted like processed meat and reminded me of "Mattersons sandwich spread". The waiter scuttled off with my amendment, then 5 minutes later.... Third disappointment: "We have no beef wellington sir, the chef is just preparing it". I was again forced to choose another alternative; "Rump steak it is then!" I replied through gritted teeth. Basically, I'd ordered the set menu but at the "a la carte" price, if the steak was outstanding I probably would have given four stars but the rump steak from my local gastro pub is a far superior cut of meat; the buttered green vegetables and potato croquettes were nice though. The bill was eye-watering for a below average meal. Don't even get me started on the miscommunication regarding the price of the 15 year old Havana Club rum! A truly disappointing experience.

We were surprised that even after two attempts they could not cook a steak medium rare, but we were so hungry after being made to wait 30 mins for a table in spite of having a reservation with OpenTable, we didn't care. The soup took 25 mins to arrive and only after reminding them that we'd ordered starters and they didn't even come with one slice of bread -and we were not offered bread either. It was quite hard to get anyone's attention. There were a lot of problems in ordering our food, communication between the staff and the kitchen, but they were very busy, so perhaps we were unlucky. The head waiter did his best to remedy the problem with our main meal, but I didn't want to spend more of my time to address the other issues because I could tell that they knew that they were having a difficult day.

Food was pleasant enough, Salmon starter was tiny, fish cake lovely, pecan pie too chewy and difficult to cut with a spoon but again tasty. Service was friendly but quite slow and with not many people in the restaurant I’m not really sure why.... Had to get people’s attention a number of times and the majority of staff were on breaks eating on the upper level from 4pm which didn’t help the very laid back service

Came here for the Mrs Birthday, it is a good place, first time I had a Beef Wellington, the pastry seemed a little overdone even though the beef inside was good, one of the best gravy's also, my girlfriend really seemed to enjoy her steak. Only downside I would say is the slow service and getting someones attention. I had booked the 50% of mains via OpenTable which wasn't recognized, when I came in - I also tend to get embarrassed quite easy and felt down looked at when I asked for this (which was at the beginning, just to make sure we had the offer as I know places would dispute it after you order the food). Also it was my girlfriends birthday and I was trying to get the sparklers and happy birthday surprise arranged but when asking one of the waiters they said yes just order the desert and all we got was happy birthday written on the side of her plate when I clearly had asked for more. Overall okay, if you're just going for food then good, service not so much.

Food came out cold, steak was very small for what was considered a 1 to 2 person Porterhouse. When asked for the food to be sent back they just reheated the sides reheated (but still cold) and they were returnee later than they brought back the meat so everything wasn’t consumed at the same time. It wasn’t a great experience at all and I won’t be returning

Disappointed would be an understatement. My anniversary dinner at a restaurant that claims to be a steakhouse was terrible. How someone manages to undercook chips, mess up a Kir Royale, and serve a dry steak on a plate full of blood is beyond me. Getting 50% off the mains through Open Table still felt like I was overpaying for thus sub standard meal. Don't go! Hawksmoor or any other real steakhouse will be cheaper and infinitely better.

Dined on Friday 1st February. We had the Cornish Crab on a toasted crumpet, the crumpet was soggy at the bottom so not a great start. I had the Chicken Schnitzel for the main and it was served burnt, how it made it passed the pass I dont know. The Head Chef needs to be more attentive with the quality of the dishes. Overall it was disappointing.

My partner bought an experience voucher from Virgin (I think) for £98 to treat me for my birthday (important detail, as you'll see later). Went there on my birthday (Friday, 31st August 2018) Good news: 1. Food was tasty 2. Service was excellent 3. Loved the cocktail, which was included Bad news: 1. Asked for my steak to be rare to medium.. and stressed that this means more rare than medium. Got my steak and it was medium; no blood in sight though it was still tasty... but for a meal that cost a fortune and with the big name above the door and it being, supposedly, a specialty steak house - a pretty poor show. 2. the REALLY bad news: (i) When my partner got the bill, they had deducted £49 for her (good), but only £10 and change for me, so they ripped us off there for about £39 (remember, the voucher cost £98, i.e. £49 x 2) (ii) They calculated the 12.5% service charge before deducting the voucher amount (which was already less than it should have been!). Finally, considering they are a steak house, you ought, on the experience voucher, be able to get a steak without paying extra. NOT SO here! You're OK if you want a tiny bit of rump steak, but EVERY other steak required at least a surcharge of about £15. As a result, my partner ended up paying a total £161 for 2 people to have a decent meal, which we could have got elsewhere - at similar quality - for half the price - if this is what it means to eat at a Marco Pierre White restaurant, he's got it VERY wrong. I haven't told my partner all of this as she wanted to treat me and I don't want to take the shine off her generous gesture, but this was rip-off dining at its worst. I would definitely not recommend this place to friends or family and will never return. A very poor show indeed.

This is a mixed review- the atmosphere was great and the staff attentive wthout being overly so. Great wine list. There were four of us and three of us chose sirloin and the other guest chose rump - the three sirloin were disappointing cuts, very fatty and to say we ordered medium rare, the meat was very tough. I’d give it another chance but not high on my list to be the first choice for a return visit.
