Not Your Average Joe's Reston
Not Your Average Joe's Reston is located just outside of Reston Town Center at the intersection of Reston Parkway and New Dominion Parkway. We offer free parking, an expansive patio, an open kitchen, bench seating and a separate bar area with mounted flat screen televisions all around for watching sporting events.
Great service & food was good.
the consensus on a meal where we ordered over a dozen different items was that the meal was marginal. The salad was bland and the lettuce was on the verge of expired, the chicken tenders were dry, the French Toast was crispy on one side, soggy on the other, and most other dishes were just ok. When the servers delivered our meals, they delivered them by placing them across the plates of other dishes that had already been placed and it was obvious to us all that they had not been properly trained as to how to place food on a table.
Food was good, service could have been better. Did not get the food I ordered. Waited an extremely long time for our food. Restaurant was not crowded on a Saturday evening.
NYAJ has lots of options for food & drinks -- something for everyone! The food is decent, nothing spectacular but pretty good. I do love that there is a parking lot for easy parking and don't have to worry about paid parking at RTC!
Tried their new Summer menu. Manager came over and apologized at the 20 minute mark after order entered. Took another 10 minutes to get food. 2 orders of fried chicken. One was very well done the other was over done (two completely different shades showing no consistancy). Chicken was mostly just salty. southern mac and cheese was a dry pasta with a parmesian sauce. Terrible. The corn on the cob had a hint of spice and no butter. Dry and overdone. I switched fries for broccoli. Steamed with no butter or seasoning. Not a good night at Joe's.......
Great food and service. Loud environment when restaurant was full.
Too noisy I think for those who like to dine with their babies but otherwise the food was good. A good variety of choices! Our portions were too large to finish. Our server was great. We will definitely go again!
Went here with a larger dinner group and the service was excellent and everyone's checks came back correct. On top of that the food was good.
The restaurant is overpriced and the food is not very good. My boss had poke and it was the worst poke she has ever had. I had Ahi tuna it was not very flavorful. it was just raw with soy sauce on it. It didn't taste marinated.
My food was cold, my daugther’s burger was charred black and well done (she ordered it medium). Having a gluten allergy, it was one place we could always rely on for a burger but this is the third time we’ve been served a burnt, well-done burger. Also, why are you all using rice noodles in place of GF pasta?
not so average was very average. Service was good but food was average.
My favorite menu option is gone and their prices went up
Went here on a Wednesday and the service was horrible. Our waiter Landon was not the friendless and didn't come to check on us for about 30 mins after our food had arrived. He only came to check on us once and wasn't very nice. He stood in the corner of the bar and talked to co-workers instead of taking care of his tables. And it wasn't busy enough for him to not be able to check on us. Food came out cold and it was the worst experience I have had at NYAJ.
I have been to this same Not Your Average Joe's many times. I find the food is consistently very good and the service is fine. It does get a bit noisy from time to time, but overall I like the place and will return again.
Great place in the evening and even if you can sit ourside. Ask for a table but always recommend making a reservation. You could probably pop in also but check the weather! Food was good and bread and olive oil with cheese is amazing!
The service model seems to have changed such that once the order is placed the server doesn’t return to your table until it’s time for dessert. No check to see if additional drinks were needed or how meal was.
I asked for a table that was as quiet as possible and we were seated right in the center of the restaurant. The dipping oil mixture had so much garlic that I got sick the next day. Our waiter was great and the helper/back up support servers were great.
Enjoyable dinner. A little loud for intimate conversation
Menu is great - super selection. Food always good, though from my reaction, i think they pretty heavily use MSG. Service is unpredictable. We had one woman who delivered drinks be silently abrupt and rude. While our actual sever was very nice. But my “bottomless” iced tea was never refilled, despite it being empty for the latter half of our lunch. Busy Thursday lunchtime. Hoat staff very nice. Server happily offered to deliver separate checks to our party of three - which was appreciated.
Really like the new summer menu!!’
Burger was a little overdone but still flavorful. Service was awesome!
The food and service is consistently good. It's an especially good place to have a business lunch in the Reston area. The service staff is always good and had an especially positive experience with Riannon as a server.
Really good fresh food in a lovely modern restaurant. Our server was very nice.
The food was fabulous. Our waitress awesome. I have had some mediocre meals here but not this time, it was great!
The service was excellent but the food was average. The room was really cold, too much a/c!
Food was good, it just want as we ordered so we sent it back. Other than that it was spot on and half price bottle of wine Wednesday’s is awesome. We will be back many times. We went to On the Border on a Friday night and the place was a third as busy as NYAJ was on a Wednesday. It’s clear the people love this place!
Terrific service!!! I’ve really noticed the difference. A BIG THUMBS UP!!
We sat down and ordered our cocktails. Three of us ordered a cucumber themed drink and one a standard Cocktail. We told the waiter we would wait for our drinks before ordering anything else. After about 5 minutes the waiter brought us waters and asked if we were ready to order. We said we would order an appetizer and he went to place the order. About 3 minutes later we got the appetizer but still no drinks. We told the server and she said they should be out shortly. Another 5+ minutes passed and out came the drinks. The cucumber cocktail came adorned with a wedge of ZUCCHINI. The recipients of the drink said it tasted nothing like cucumber and the waiter said they ran out of cucumbers. Since at this point we were pressed for time to get to a show they decided to just to drink it and move on. One of us ordered the Mona Lisa which was fried chicken salad that was supposed to include strawberries and pecans neither of which were in the meal. Again pressed for time they ate and enjoyed the chicken but was disappointed they it was not as advertised. The restaurant was not busy and this experience as unsatisfactory.
Had another good meal here. This time I tried the jambalaya served over rice. It was the right level of spicy but not too spicy. My friend tried the salmon over a Vietnamese soup and liked it. We split a carrot cake that was moist and flavorful. Best though is the home baked bread with a scrumptious olive oil, cheese, and garlic dipping sauce. It is that sauce that keeps me going back to this restaurant. YUM!!!
The service was slow. We needed the manager to help bring food, water, bread, twice. The Impossible Burger had an “impossible” price of $18... While tasty, the restaurant could have provided more condiments, sides, etc.
Excellent service and a great selection of ala carte. My wife loved the gluten-free choices especially the bread appetizer. We’ve eaten at this franchise restaurant in other cities but this is the best.
Food us reliably good. Bread is so fresh and flavorful.
Good service, fund atmosphere (we went for World Cup). Their brunch menu is limited to a few items. Joe's is good for an easy night or day outing without a lot of fan fare.
We had a wonderful meal and the service was friendly and attentive. food was terrific as always.
Went there for dinner an July 4th, which is kind of an odd night. Our server, Zoe, was attentive and charming, the manager came over to our table to make us feel welcome, and another server came over to remark that we were going to absolutely love our ahi tuna appetizer (which we did). Our lobster rolls were amazing and totally worth it (my husband is from Boston and is appreciative of a good lobster roll). A home run on all counts!
The food has definitely changed here at Joe's. The bread which used to be awesome was either undercooked or the changed the way they make it. it had less onion on it and it wasn't crispy.
The waiter over poured the oil into the dry mix and we had to get a new one.
The food that we were used is also different. the Jambalaya used to come in a bowl over rice, now it comes on a plate with rice plopped in the middle... The veggie burger was also different.
The reason my team liked nyajoes was that everyone could find something to eat. This has changed. We started to notice the change in food quality late last year [burning the nacho's] and it seems to have continued to go down from there..
Lastly, the waiter did not bring my appetizer until the main course and by then what was the point.
I will try it again this fall and will decide if I will continue to be a patron.
We had a great time! We were celebrating Ashley's 17th birthday and the staff was great about everything. It is one of our favorite places to eat!
