I don’t usually write a bad review, but this restaurant deserves one. It needs a good clean, skirting boards, shelves and ornaments covered in dust. Table sticky, needs a thorough degrease. Cutlery and glasses need washing and polishing. There was no draft beer, lots of items not available on the menu. The waiter was lovely, I felt sorry for him having to apologise for the restaurants short comings, it seems to me that maybe it’s about to close down. I did not stay to eat because it was dirty.

Overpriced, terrible service, empty glasses left on table when new ones arrived, food very average and absolutely empty at 7pm on a Friday night. Website and menu make it out to be a much more fine dining/ high quality experience but it was poor. Had to call the waiter over as empty glasses and plates went unnoticed.

A lovely meal. I had kangaroo streak which was incredible and my partner had lamb which melted in your mouth. Lovely food and atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Thank you.

We have been here before, and the food and service didn't disappoint. It was excellent! The only comment is with the dessert, tart au citron which is one of my favourites, it was the texture of a treacle tart which I wasn't keen on.

Absolutely no atmosphere in this place at all. Hasn’t changed with the times. Decor is tired and scruffy. Staff were polite but had no charisma. Food was average. Not bad but you could easily cook for yourself and spend a fraction of the costs. This place needs to refresh it’s ideas otherwise it will be closed in no time.

I chose this restaurant because it looked very romantic inside as I wanted to propose to my girlfriend. Turns out it was the right decision. The food was excellent. We had steak which was perfectly cooked. The staff were polite, inquired to whether we liked our food but didn’t interrupt us too much to the point of being annoying. The only thing that could of been better was we were practically the only people in the restaurant apart from one other couple that left in the middle of our meal. I would recommend this restaurant to any couple who would like a romantic evening.

A group of us went for a friend’s birthday, the food was amazing, excellent quality and it came piping hot. We all cleaned our plates and would definitely visit again. Staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble.

A little disappointing with the quality of food. Veg was cold and steak was very chewy. It may have been because of restaurant week and using lower quality products which I completely understand. Service was great though

Food was lovely restaurant was freezing. Moved away from the window as it was so cold, we were told the heating was on. It got no warmer throughout our meal which spoiled it.

Disappointing! Not only did they mess up an order of food ( which was corrected when everyone else was finished) but they gave us the wrong bottle of champagne ( and it’s a champagne bar!!!). The menu is limited -not much variety. The food was good however. Definitely will not be coming back.

I was trying to find a restaurant last minute on Friday Night and Open Table said there was some availability here. I was very surprised as I have been here a few times and it has always been great, so I didn't expect there to be any room for us at such short notice. The food was amazing, the service was fantastic, I will be returning again very soon!

I would not recommend this restaurant. It was over priced and the food was poor. Staff seemed friendly enough but bored and underpaid. We booked for 7.15 on a Saturday evening, when we arrived the restaurant was only 1/4 full and didn't get much busier. It was a Birthday treat, we have 2 young children so we don't often get the chance to go out just the two of us. The reviews looked promising so we decided to choose this restaurant. Bad decision. We had champagne cocktails before getting a bottle of wine with the meal. My husband and I skipped the starters and went straight for the mains. I had an 8oz Fillet steak. I asked for it to be very blue! It wasn't! It was medium rare in the middle and medium on the outside. Very disappointing for an expensive cut of meat. My husband had the lamb. It was over cooked, smothered in sauce with over cooked veg. No one came to check to see if we were enjoying our meal. The bill came to over £110 for two mains, 2 cocktails and a bottle of wine. Over all a very disappointing experience. We certainly would NOT reccomend this restaurant.

Poor. I ordered fillet steak, I’ve never been to a restaurant that doesn’t provide a steak knife and chips were rock solid. My wife ordered a side of mixed veg with her lamb shank and never arrived as part of her main. Usually in a restaurant you have the same waiter/waitress who serves you throughout the meal and work in sections, we had 4 different servers. Cost of food when the food isn’t up to much isn’t worth it compared to other restaurants in Newcastle. Just being honest…

We arrived at silk room we were able to choose where we were sitting which was perfect, we ordered our food and asked for medium rare steak with king prawns, the main came out which came out burnt to a crisp with no king prawns. We sent the main back for them to bring the prawns out first which we didn’t ask for, and then had to wait for another steak praying it was cooked how we asked. The new steak came out and was cooked perfect but had an awful smell to it, I couldn’t tell you what the smell was. The chips were awful hardly ate anything. The waiter came over and we asked for the bill and the waiter could tell we didn’t like the food. He then took the prawns & steak off our bill which was understanding. This place has gone right down hill we won’t be returning unfortunately.
