I totally recommend this place. Great service and food.
WE had the roast dinner which was good. The potatoes could have been crunchier but the cauliflower cheese was great
Food and service were excellent, but the decor and atmosphere weren't really in keeping with such a beautiful venue.
I have visited the Tudor Barn on numerous occasions and it will always be one of the first venues I consider when either booking for a family group or for a 1-1 with a friend.
However, I did not feel that, on this occasion, there was a particularly wide choice of menu and was therefore somewhat disappointed. I had a lovely time catching up with my friend, the staff were helpful and considerate and the venue as welcoming and attractive as ever. However, the choice of food did not live up to my expectations.
We visited the Tudor Barn for Sunday lunch, it was very noisy as a wedding was also taking place. Although the restaurant wasn’t really that busy, the staff find it hard to cope with both. If more staff were on it would have been a better experience . The staff could have be more attentive when taking orders and serving the meals. The food was ok once it did arrive.
Went to the Tudor Barn on Sunday with my mum, had to ask the waiter 3 times for my mums drink which finally turned up. Had a very nice glass of white wine followed by a fabulous and juicy burger with skin on chips, mum had dis and chips which she said was good. It was quite noisy as there was a wedding reception going on and I think the service was quite bad because of this. However I would go back as the food was lovely.
Liked the refurbishment- haven't been for about a year- pleasant atmosphere.
I didn't enjoy my meal - poor choice. I didn't like the choice on the menu. My friends were happy with their food.
Staff were friendly & quick service. Quiet restaurant - we could hear each other speak which was great (don't recall music playing) Delicious food. We had the afternoon tea.
Restaurant area inside very small and lighting is quite harsh. Food quality was excellent but the portion size too small for what you are charged.
Setting was quiet and pleasant. Food was really lovely and staff were friendly with very good service. Atmosphere was lacking as it was a very quiet Monday lunchtime. Was a little bit pricey for a local venue but the building is very historic.
On arrival we were shown to our table , restaurant was completely empty apart from a few people in bar area . We waited ages for someone to come & take our order and in the end we walked up & ordered & paid in advance at the bar.Food was not to the standard we have had on previous visits & was definitely not gastro pub quality ! Pate was like something you would buy at the super market , pork chop was just 2 thick slices of previously cooked pork , would have expected it to have been freshly cooked, my Husband had the 8oz steak but it was more like 4oz was very small & thin and at £22.99 we felt ripped off . When we complained at the end of the meal we were offered deserts for free , we said we had already paid , but despite our bill being nearly £70 we were told that they had forgotten to charge for my husbands desert & that as we had eaten the food and not complained at the time they would not refund anything , we made our complaint when we brought the dirty plates back that the waitress Failed to clear & nobody came to ask how our food was & we were charged restaurant menu prices when we should have been charged bar prices as we did all the service ourselves ! We were told a manager would ring me first thing , I asked to be phoned after 11 as I was working , I got a call at 9:36 from an unknown number but have not been phoned back !. We were very dissapointed as we were celebrating our wedding Anniversary. We will definitely not be returning here ,have had better meals & service in a Wetherspoons !
Good food, pleasant and helpful staff, but DIRTY WINDOWS! For a lunch time treat, it would have been much nicer to look out of sparkling clean windowpanes.
Service was really good, friendly attentive staff. We thought the food was over priced for what we had and that unfortunately would put us off going again. Don’t mind paying £100 on a meal but this didn’t even include a bottle of wine as I only had 1 glass.
We have a special date planned at this venue in 2019 and wanted to experience the venue before then. We where very happy, from the food to the atmosphere to a walk in the park after it was absolutely lovely. Would recommend to anyone looking for good meal and great ambiance.
We had tried the new breakfast menu. The food was very good and thanks to the promotional offer we also got a mimosa. We will go there again.
A nice dining location, a good atmosphere - great to take the kids. The corner we chose had little noise, so we could talk easily and hear each other during the meal, but there were a variety of seating options depending on what you want - inside and out. The service was just right, not overbearing, but not neglected. The food was very special for pub food, I was very pleasantly surprised with how good my vegetarian choice was too.
We had booked and arrived on time. However Service was very slow; we sat for 10 minutes and had to ask for a menu. The food was average - vegetables undercooked. We had to ask for dessert menu too. Generally staff did not seem to be organised.
Great atmosphere for feeling at ease to chat with a date or friend. And an interesting historic venue.
Wanted to take my wife out for afternoon tea somewhere local in a picturesque setting. It looked great on the website.
Turns out the place is just a pub. Afternoon tea in a pub with 90s indie classics playing just doesn’t work. Would be fair enough but it took over an hour for the food to arrive and the quality was poor. All round a very bad choice by me.
A beautiful place for a meal on a warm summer evening. The burger was the best I have had for ages! Our waitress was friendly and efficient and the setting is beautiful.
The servers were very personable and professional. Perfect for outdoor summer lunch with friends.
A very nice afternoon cream tea; lovely sandwiches, scones and cakes, choice of teas and a free glass of champagne for a birthday celebration. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. However, I was offered a special deal by email from Tudor Barn, £20 instead of £30 for two, for which I paid in advance using PayPal. However, the staff were not aware of this offer and seemed to think that I had not paid. It was acutely embarrassing to have to dig out my phone to provide evidence of payment etc, which they eventually accepted.
So we went to the mini fizz festival and thought that we should treat ourselves to a sunday roast. we loved the festival however the roast dinner was a let down due to the quality of roast potatoes ,just about roasted and lack of vegetables ,cabbage and a long carrot slice. Biggest let down was the 1 slice of beef to our friends 3 slices of other meat option.
Sunday lunch was good but would have preferred more veg and roast potatoes. Thought it was a little expensive for what you get.
I'm sad to say that the food did not match the venue. I couldn't eat my starter as the soup was like wall paper paste and wasn't seasoned well. The tart for my main was really nice but not filling, I would have been disappointed if I had to pay full price as we had the set menu. My dessert was awful, I had the peanut butter cheesecake. I have never had to chew on a cheesecake so much.
The waitress was sweet however we were not attended to much and had to order extra food and drinks ourselves at the bar, which was not acceptable. Neither were we greeted and shown to our seats. We were basically left to our own devices even though there were enough staff and it wasn't particularly busy.
I doubt I would ever dine the again, which is a real shame as it is local to me and the venue is beautiful, I must admit that I haven't been so disappointed due to value for money and quality of the food in a very long time. I don't know how they can justify charging such exorbitant prices for such bad food.
Afternoon Tea for Birthday
Toddlers chicken was pink undercooked , soup was tasteless the sunday roast was very poor and not at all value for money
Enjoyed our meal although thought menu had a little more choice when I looked on line but never less had a nice meal
Well you've asked me to write a review. Where can I begin? There aren't many restaurants that would leave me hospitalised! I went to the Tudor Barn with my husband, daughter her partner and my 4 year old grandson to celebrate his birthday. We all ordered burgers. My husband found a metal wire in his meal and complained. The staff were clearly concerned and offered a refund. That was too late for me as I'd already taken several mouthfuls of mine and was finding it difficult to swallow. Later that evening I became more and more uncomfortable and went to A&E. An X-ray revealed an obstruction and I was admitted. The next day I had an operation to remove a 3cm piece of wire that was stuck in my throat that had been inside the burger. I was discharged the next day with a very sore throat. It could have been way worse and I'm so glad that t wasn't my grandson who suffered. One meal with a foreign body in is bad luck but two?? It does make me wonder who else might have experienced the same problem. Needless to say this has been reported to Environmental Health and we won't be eating there again.
We had afternoon tea, which was lovely, waitress was brilliant, service was great, no complaints, very enjoyable afternoon, would highly recommend
As there was an event on we weren't allowed to sit in the garden. Nevertheless the staff more than made up for this disappointment.
On our visit during half term, two friends and I were celebrating our belated birthdays with an annual afternoon tea. We like to try new places to have tea so this was our first visit. It was very quiet inside and out. The decor was well suited to the establishment; it was clean and comfortable where we sat inside. It was just a shame about the service and it seemed the ladies who were serving that day had a problem with another table so were already a little flustered when we arrived. This may be the reason we were mostly forgotten about during our time there unfortunately. We hungry three had to get up to track down our tea and drinks. Pleasant environment, but the experience and distance means I probably won’t venture there again unfortunately.
Meet friend for lunch , fantastic friendly service , I had the steak sandwich which was gorgeous! Will definitely be going back soon .
Service far too slow
Quality of food expensive for what it is
Went for a Sunday roast, which was 'nice' but nothing that would make me go back quickly im afraid. Overpriced as their wasnt much on the plate.
Nice atmosphere, especially on a sunny day where you can sit outside.
Good service by the staff.
Very nice and a big garden area lovely views and inside is beautifully set out
We have used this restaurant many a time, my husband booked it for our anniversary so we were very disappointed to find that the a le carte menu have been removed since we had booked our meal ( we had told them it was our anniversary) the main restaurant was not even open . When we ask questions them about this they said it the menu had changed this week . So we decided to go somewhere else. Hope someone will get in touch with us as we’ve been eaten here many a time..
Staff lovely food bad had a really bad tummy that night n way to over priced for what we got .
Nice venue . Portion size to small . No parking so needs to be walking distance . On arrival wasn’t busy but took time to get drink and be seated . Waitress was pleasant
I found Tudor Barn, whilst looking for a lunch venue near Eltham Palace which we were
going to visit. ( We found out later, it is closed on a Saturday.) It is a wonderful use of an Historic
Building in a pretty location with mote in a park. Initially, it semmed a little chaotic as there was a big queue at the bar where we had to book in and it seemed that a table hadn't been reserved for us, however all was redeemed when we were led out on to the terrace and then
recieved excellent service throughout. The food as stated, was very good indeed.
Many thanks indeed, we shall be back.
