The atmosphere of 4244 was relaxed and the young man front of house was very pleasent and informative. We did have to wait 10-15 minutes to be served wine and one of the waitresses didn't seem to know what she was serving us which did confuse things a little but apart from that the service was friendly and good. The Poached Scottish Langoustine Monkfish, curly kale & pastrami was absolutely amazing and most of the other food on the night was excellent. The goose was a little tough and the desserts wasn't to our liking but that was purely because we don't like Christmas pudding. We were offered an alternative and took it but it fell a bit short. I definitely want to try The Aumbry once it re-opens. I was a little surprised at the price of the wines which seemed very steep but I suppose this is due to the cost of the pop up. The clos des lys pinot noir was delicious but at £42 a bottle I would expect it to be. Overall a nice experience.

I was really delighted with the evening I spent celebrating my sons birthday @ 4244. We, a group of 4, were all really excited about the menu & 3 of us decided on the wine taster to go with the superb food. One of our party requested "gluten free" which was provided without any quibble. without a doubt the most delicious, exciting food I've ever eaten!! the service was relaxed and informative, unhurried and friendly, We appreciated the information on the wine, and actually learnt quite a lot. It was an absolute triumph, THANK YOU we will be looking forward to a return visit in the spring

we eat often in manchester, manchester house was fantastic, so was expecting similar, the whole night was a disappointment food was very bland, no taste, and the price was extreme. I mean £15 service charge, we paid up and got out, never to return.

What a great place. Relaxed and unpretentious. Friendly, knowledgable and attentive staff. And then the food...phenomenal. Tasting menu is exactly that...tasty morcel after tasty morcel arrives at a perfect pace. Each one a delight. A heavy nod to the chefs Bury/Lancashire roots which was right up my street! Black peas so close to bonfire night - yes please! Wines are all natural and start around the £30 mark. However they offer beer and a few spirits. All in all, a great night out that I could t fault.

Have eaten at aumbry now half a dozen times as a couple and with teenage kids. I am veggie and always inform them at time of booking . Excellent interesting food . Every mouthful interesting. May be expensive but actually excellent value considering time and effort in preparation. Will keep going and wish them good luck for the future.

My husband and I enjoyed our meal, but found we weren't as full as we were after the Tuesday night tasting menu offer at aumbry. There weren't as many little extra touches - I was very cold through the meal, which didn't help the ambience. I was expecting a bit more for the full price menu at 4244 than the £30 offer at aumbry, but we left slightly unsatisfied. However, the service was absolutely, incredibly lovely. Sincere kindness & care. They brought 2 beautiful chocolates at the very end. Some of the best chocolate I've ever had. The vegetarian options are far more interesting than any other fine dining restaurant. I would go again, for a special occasion. We are big fans of aumbry, but the pop - up didn't go quite as well.

This was a lovely experience all round. The staff were charming and knowledgable. The menu was very well balanced and interspersed with delightful treats. I loved the black pudding scotch eggs, the amazing tomato consommé, the mini rhubarb and custard sweeties with coffee, all of it really ! Could have done with more consistent music .

Went to Aumbry this week after seeing it on the website. We thought we would try the Tuesday tasting menu £25, being the first visit there. What a little gem of a place to find. The restaurant was querky, food was fab with an abundance of flavours and the staff were very friendly, but keeping professionalism at the forefront of their minds. We were made to feel very comfortable and overall had a fabulous experience. We would definitely go again.

I can't believe I live minutes away from this lovely restaurant and didn't know it existed until recently. We went in a family group of five for belated birthday meal, it was just perfect. We had the 6 course menu. The restaurant itself is so simple, fresh and pretty, it's hard to believe that you could be literally steps from the busy main road. The service was lovely, exactly the right balance of professionalism and informality. All the courses explained and plenty of time between courses to chat and digest. The food itself was amazing, lots of wonderful, tasty and beautifully presented, with loads of little extras between courses. It was one of those meals that you keep suddenly remembering different little bits of and smiling!

Had a great lunch at aumbry recently. We live in Prestwich and had never visited the restaurant before so thought we would try it out. The service was great - waitresses were really friendly and helpful, getting a great balance between expertise/formality and warmth. The food was truly delicious, interspersed with little treats between the courses... We will definitely visit regularly in the future and support this great restaurant!

easy booking on line and we got 2 phone calls to confirm our booking and to check dietary requirements so very attentive. out of the way but easy to find. we had the Great British Menu from the TV series. the food was very good rather than stunning. some of the 5 courses were excellent (fish and chips with beans) whereas others were merely "good" with one criticism from all 4 of us of being almost over-salted - and i like salt. the staff were all excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable. we had 2 of the "accompanying wines selection" between us as 2 were driving and that was about right

We had a beautiful meal at the Aumbry and thoroughly enjoyed their Great Brush Menu experience. The service was friendly and well informed and every course delivered something new. The fish on the fish and chip dish was excellent and the dessert the best I have eaten in as long as I can remember. Our only slight niggle was the speed of service which we felt was slightly slow and did leave quite a long time between each of the courses.

You have a choice of 6 or 9 course tasting menu but any dislikes or dietary requirements are discussed when the table is confirmed by the restaurant. Service is great, nothing was too much trouble. The presentation of the good is stunning and the flavours delicious. Portions look small but by the time you have had canapés with drinks, amuse bouche, the tasting menu with an optional cheese course then petit fours it really is lots of food.

About this rrestaurant. They are not pretending to be spectacular chefs. They are truly spectacular. Having eaten in several restaurants who offer a 6/7/9/12 course tasting menu I was not really looking forward to this. Usually each course has little but the collection of ingredients to distinguish one from the other. Not this restaurant. It was the first time ever that I felt every mouthful had been carefully crafted, considered and developed into a remarkable eating experience, rather than being just a showcase for the chef to exhibit their culinary highbrow skills.

The ambience of the restaurant is very good but the dining experience was disappointing the menu was uninspiring with nothing on there that sounded amazing however my expectation was that the quality of everything produced would be of such quality that it counter this. The food was uninspired but fine, the fish was cold and nothing tasted exceptionally fresh. I was really disappointed. I would never return.

Have eaten in many Michelin starred restaurants and this was right up there in terms of quality. Travelled across from Sheffield and was not let down. Would highly recommend to others. As we arrived too early and they hadn't opened we were directed to a nearby wine bar rather than being left out on the street. On returning we were warmly welcomed and led upstairs to a very elegant lounge for our prosecco and baby pastry. We had booked the Great British Menu 4 course dinner which was delicious and also included an amuse bouche, a premain course taster and petit fours with our coffee. Excellent service with a smile and a friendly ambience meant that our evening passed in a lovely warm glow. It's a shame we live a distance away but would recommend Aumbrey for that special romantic meal.

A real experience! Not one that I could afford very often but for a special occasion it was lovely. The restaurant has a very relaxed ambience and you don't feel like you need to dress up to be there. We had the 9 course tasting menu, matched with the more expensive wine options. The food was very good but not all to my taste, though my husband loved it all. I enjoyed the wine matching & the staff were very friendly & knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend for a special occasion though possibly not the tasting menu if you are less adventurous with food!

I haven't been to Aumbry for a while, and was so pleased to see that standards haven't slipped, as they so often do with restaurants. The service was as good as ever, all of the little 'amuse-bouche' between courses were innovative without being pretentious, and the courses were all very high quality. The attention to detail was first-class. I'll be back again sooner this time.

Not that I'm by any means an expert, but this restaurant offers high end dining in a very relaxed and informal atmosphere. It is a pleasure to eat here. There is a choice between two tasting menus. We went for the 9-course option, and the quality and enjoyment in eating remained consistently high course after course. So many different flavours & textures - in fact it became a little difficult to keep track of which course was which after a while (but in a good way). I was particularly impressed with the service (friendly, polite, welcoming) and the attention to detail regarding dietary requirements (always offering alternatives and informing us of ingredients etc.). This is a restaurant that cares about its customers. Thank you.
