The perfect place to catch up with friends : you can have a conversation without having to shout. There is no loud music, it's relaxing and the food is lovely. I particularly like the choice of English wines on the wine list. We tried a red and a white English and they were both perfect with our choice of food. I love eating there and will be back soon.

This was our second visit for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent but the experience a little spoiled by two families dining with toddlers who allowed their children to run around, climbing on chairs at empty tables, pulling bark out of the planters, making a racket unchecked by their parents. The waiters were then distracted, having to shepherd the children and make sure they didn’t harm themselves or break anything. We will return and recommend the food highly.

For fish lovers, cured or fresh, an ideal choice. The must have starter is a platter of cured salmon in a variety of ways, large enough for two share. The turbot which followed was cooked to perfection. For carnivores some interesting dishes and to finish a voice of English favourites. The wine selection is British and ours was very good and inexpensive. The menu is not long but there is sufficient selection to go back and not repeat your choices. It was a relatively quiet evening but the staff were attentive and caring. We were a party of four and all of us enjoyed the evening.

The restaurant serves delicious smoked salmon, as you would expect and the starter was excellent. We ordered the halibut and the turbot which were very tasty but were not served hot enough to really enjoy them. The same was true of the mashed potatoes which were lukewarm. The chips, however, were hot and really good. Service was excellent.

Was very much looking forward to our meal with friends. The restaurant looked beautiful and we received a window seat as required. The starters were delicious, 3 having salmon, generous portions and beautifully presented. The main was disappointing as two required monkfish which looked lovely but couldn’t be cut, it was like rubber. The waiter did take them away but we overheard them saying that this wasn’t the first time that the monkfish had been returned due to the same reason. Shouldn’t happen twice. One diner didn’t really-order and one did with turkey which was delicious but as the other diners had finished it was not nice dining alone. The two meals and replacement weren’t charged, neither were the tea and coffees so there were no further problems. Don’t think we would rerun though.

It was our first visit to the restaurant and have to say it ticked all the boxes. Great food well prepared and presented and by very attentive staff. The restaurant has a really nice airy feel and felt comfortable and relaxed and great for conversation. We will be back without a doubt.

I absolutely love Formans. It may be in the middle of nowhere but that's the treat. Went on Saturday night, service was attentive and courteous, food as ever was marvellous and the restaurant is so comfortable, spacious and elegant. It really is my favourite restaurant and worth a journey in from Kent.

Amazing food. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere and not close to the tube, this certainly drives away a lot of potential customers coming from afar. But if you're in East is a must try place - fish is to die for an reasonably priced.

Nice restaurant in out of the way location. Food good but could have been hotter. I know food shouldn’t be served piping hot for tasting reasons however all four of our mains were warm. Still tasty though. Unfortunately there were a couple of items we ordered were not available which was a shame. Staff very nice.
