About this restaurant

  • Lively
  • Good for groups
  • Great for brunch
Neighborly meets sophisticated at Red Owl, a modern tavern in the heart of Old City, just across from the Liberty Bell. Among soaring windows and cozy tables, the kitchen serves up smart, stylish takes on American staples (a cheesesteak never tasted as good as ours, made with premium shaved rib-eye). When paired with craft beers and classic cocktails, it’s a clever balance of fancy and familiar, with a dash of Philly flair.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

the food and service staff were excellent. We had a nice time chatting and never felt rushed. The noise level was a bit high despite some open tables. The other odd thing is you have to go into the hotel attached to the restaurant to use restrooms which is not bad, just an odd thing and a little bit of a walk.

Delicious food, very attentive waiters, and fun atmosphere! Outside was a little tight, but we thought it was fine for us. We are gluten sensitive and found options. I love how the hot tea is served in a pot & not by the glass. The only thing that I wish that they had was a stand alone “mocktail” menu. They can make a bunch of alcoholic drinks into mocktails if you choose though! I did not try them, but my daughter got a Shirley Temple which was legit- Luxardo cherries & not just a bright, dyed soda. It was delicious! My teenagers both asked to go back soon, so I’d say that this place was a win.

We had made reservations for a group of 12. We were seated upstairs with a view overlooking the street. The staff was wonderful. We got an array of appetizers, and they were all fresh, interesting, and delicious. Everyone ordered different entrees and there was enough for sharing. We all enjoyed our meals a great deal. Even the after dinner coffee was great. We were very pleased with the entire experience.

Very prompt service. Good thing I made a reservation the night before. There was a 20 minute wait otherwise. Delicious pancakes and banana bread. Bacon was undercooked though.
