perfect , did have a bad experience ages ago but it's all forgot about and now back in love
Great value for price good service clean not overcrowded
Amazing our new favourite place, great service, lovely surroundings, great food, unbeatable value.
Lovely meal, shame about some people that was in the restaurant,
Saturday evening booking; only three other tables occupied in what is a very large restaurant. No atmosphere. Service was satisfactory but nothing special. Ordered breads, starters and mains. Breads came with the starters rather than before. Staff busied themselves changing empty table settings from dinner to breakfast which was very irritating. Food was ok but unexceptional and overpriced for what it was. Wouldn't recommend.
Been to Village hotel for Carvery many times now Both Bury and Ashton and almost always come away satisfied .Cant understand though why beef is so rare . Again this visit i asked for well done and chef cut from opposite end and far from being well done Blood was oozing out .It must be a policy to cook meat very rare as on my many visits beef has been undercooked .I do also avoid the sprouts as they are almost inedible because they are so undercooked .These problems stop me going every sunday i now go just for a change opting to go elsewhere for my twice weekly restaurant visit.
Very good. Just a long wait for food especially between main and sweet.
Another great evening at the Village Grill. Visited the restaurant with family. The food and service was excellent. Will be back.
Staff were attentive, dining room was clean and tidy and food was good
We had to wait 20 mins for starter and first drinks, so had to get the children their main before starter, desert apple crumble had large pieces of uncooked apple, will not be dining there again in the near future.
We have dined here a few times and been happy however it wasn’t so great this time. We chose a 3pm Sunday lunch sitting rather than 12.30 and felt the service and food was worse for it. The staff are always very friendly however they were clearly very busy so we ended up having to clear are own plates both times so we could get on with the next course. Drinks were too slow to arrive too - we had almost finished our starters before they arrived. What I don’t understand is that the restaurant know how many people are booked in so why don’t they staff for the number of guests accordingly?
The main course was fine but the starters seemed like they had been made and put out for a long time - prawns were rubbery and tasteless. Also choice of dessert was poor and because we had cleared our own plates we didn’t get offered a hot desert until we had finished what we thought was the only choice which by then was too late.
A bit disappointing all round I’m afraid.
It took 3 attempts just to get warm bread
Took half hour after arriving for the drinks to be brought to the table
The ice cream machine was not working and non of the staff knew how to fix it
No communication between staff
All staff looked half asleep
Our stay was pleasant and on Tuesday night the service we had from faith was exceptional
Value for money and great food and service from the start
The service was abysmal there were only two members of staff waited for too long for everything over an hour for food asked for drinks, food, sauces several times all night which were not bought so had to keep reminding them
Asked for a pic as it was my birthday they forgot then asked again and again had to wait until the very end and they were bad pics
Finally complained was offered free dessert and 25% off when the bill came there was no discount when I asked the girl said she couldn’t cos there had been an offer on a drink in which we’d saved £10 instead of the 25% off the £250 bill there was no manager I could talk to!
Was just a terrible experience ruined my meal the food was incredible but completely let down by inexperienced understaffed staff
Food standard has deteriorated over the last two years. Tables either side of us complained with the table to the right of us refused to pay.
The quality of vegetables and meat was beyond poor, I did not want to embarrass my family by complaining however we shall never be eating in the restaurant again.
A real shame as was once a true destination for food but has a growing reputation for slop. Even the chef seemed to have given up !
Met up with old friends here as we were staying at the hotel. Staff very friendly but also professional. Food delicious and plentiful. Hot food was hot and cold food was cold! Our friends, who live locally, said they would be happy to visit again as would we if in the area again.
We had the Sunday carvery and the sprouts were hard and the cauliflower was hard the roast potatoes were soggy and it looked like someone had filled them with watery mash. I have ate here a number of times before and the first few times the food was great but the last 2 times the food was very poor so I will be looking for somewhere else to have a Sunday carvery .
I think there should be more choice in Vegetables. There was only carrots cabbage and sprouts available
Enjoyed our meal only trouble was the cavery wasn’t very warm and the restaurant was extremely hot
Had a lovey meal great service and a very helpful waiter called jack
Food was very bland..................................
We were there for a meal for my wife's 40th birthday and Patricia who showed us to our table was very nice and brought us a glass of complimentary prosecco, we placed our order and the starter was lovely but when the main course came out the meal for my wife was not what she ordered so the waitress took it away with no apology and left mine on the table, she came back after a couple of minutes and said the kitchen would have the correct meal ready in a few minutes and it was only then that she asked if I would like mine keeping warm which I did, when the meals came back out my chips had started going cold and soggy but other than that they were fine, we then asked for the cocktail menu and as we sat waiting we watched as the waitress we asked cleared 2 tables and took payment from another table and after about 15-20 mins waiting Patricia came over with the cocktail menus at which point we told her we had waited too long and just wanted the bill, when the bill arrived we had been charged for everything we had even though we had pre booked and pre paid for a 2 course meal which we told the staff about when we arrived so we had to wait for this to be rectified at which point we were told they would make sure the breakfast staff would look after us the following day, this whole experience spoiled what should have been a celebration of my wife's 40th birthday.
We was disappointed as not one person cleared our plates from starter to desert. Our table was piled up with plates! It was very disappointing as we always go for lunch at the village but on this occasion the service was really poor infact non existent.
Lovely food, staff very helpful, ideal Sunday lunch, food wasn’t cold but not red hot, small selection but nice and well presented would recommend a visit and will be going back
We had a lovely carvery, the salad and dessert selection was excellent and the staff were extremely pleasant.
Sent a meal back as it was the wrong sauce, came back with the same piece of chicken missing just heated up with more wrong sauce on. Very poor.
Me and my husband was very impressed with the food and service. Staff very friendly and helpful.
We will be back.
We had a 2 course dinner included as part of our hotel deal. It was from a limited menu, but there was a reasonable choice. We shared a starter of Parmesan & tomato flatbread which was easily large enough to serve us both. Mains of veg curry and chicken&veg skewers were good portions and really tasty, as well as well presented. Our shared dessert was a bit disappointing. Although our welcome at the restaurant was fine, service was very slow - it took over 2 hours for a fairly basic meal, and that was only after we had to chase up the dessert. In this type of restaurant this is not acceptable - it’s not really a destination restaurant for a relaxed fine dining meal. We were staying in the hotel on a family visit and had planned to meet up with others later, which we had to delay. To add insult to injury they then added the meal cost to our hotel bill, when we had already paid. To be fair the reception staff at the hotel sorted this out quickly, but it should not have happened when we had explained that we were on a dinner inclusive deal
Food is delicious and great value for money. Great service and definitely will go again
Really caring staff as I do not eat dairy products. The chef cooked my vegetables separately. The food was really nice and the customer service excellent.
There was a noisy crowd in the restaurant when we first went in, shouting and swearing, but thankfully after about 10 minutes the head waitress had a word with these people and they left.
been to village hotel 4 course carvery several times now ,twice at bury the rest at ashton .Bury takes it on slightly better location and dining area but Ashton wins hands down in the important aspect "FOOD" . Firstvtrip to bury food wasnt great but thought it could be a one off so tried again and food was almost inedible ,starters and desserts were ok but carvery was dire Beef was very pink and almost bleeding so i asked for well done from the edge of joint ,that was also pink and very tough .struggled to cut it with knife it was super chewy so had to eject it into napkin . Turkey and ham not the best either ,the rest was also pretty poor ,almost raw carrots stuffing balls like rubber - roast potatoes mushy . sprouts and cauli ok . Will be going Ashton in future as both trips to bury were pretty poor and several other customers mentioned the same issues . In defence of Bury when i came to pay the manager removed a pint of lager from bill but it was still £30 and probably worth 2 x £5.99
Went to The Village in Bury for Sunday Lunch. £14.95pp for a 4 course unlimited buffet.
The food was quality, fresh and tasty.
I would definitely recommend here and I hope to return soon.
Overall it was very good, the staff were lovely, although I felt as though they wasnt ready for the 12.30 sitting,we got there about 12.25 and was told that they wasnt going to be ready for 10 minutes so could we wait outside, which was fine, then as we went in they were still putting things out,I got up to get some pate and there were no bread rolls, when I asked I was told they were still in the oven, with them saying at the begining we couldnt go in for 10 minutes I just expected everything to be out and fully stocked, soup was lovely, carvery was lovely, then when I went for ice cream I asked where the bowls were to be told they had ran out!!! So I asked if I could have a little pot or something as I didnt want my 2yr old eating ice cream off a plate, they brought me a little plastic pot that the prawn coctails were in which was absolutely fine,I had the chocolate mousse which is one of the best ive had,my husband had the cheesecake which he said was tasteless.....so we finished our meal and went to pay....the lady on the till Patricia..was lovely and chatty as I was paying,I put my card and pin number in and as she took the machine back off me the wire came out of the side and the machine went off, after waiting a few minutes which couldnt be helped,Patricia said the payment hadnt been made so could I do it again, which I did and this time my card was declined!!! Patricia assured me that it hadnt come out as it was still on her till so I just paid with a different card..all done and we left.On getting home and checking my online banking I realised that it had taken the first payment and the second one too, straight away I got on the phone and spoke to Patricia who again was lovely and advised me to go back for a refund,I sent my husband as my son was having his afternoon nap,and they refunded it back to my card,I understand accidents like this happen but I could have done without it really and was embarassed when my card then got declined.
Staff were very friendly & helpful. Sunday Carvery was delicious!!!
First time at Village Bury but have been previously to Village Ashton , I think Ashton just wins in food aspect - Beef was very rare at Bury with several customers commenting . But Bury feels slightly more upmarket than Ashton . Happy with all visits due to offer on 4 course carvery ,A La Carte prices are more than i want to pay . Carvery is great value for money and we always enjoy our visits.Supervisor lady and carvery server at Bury were super other girls a bit lax and i got a fiver change in 50p coins as no £5 notes or £1 coins how bad is that.
Busy evening and on a set menu, starter choice was down to 2, asked it they could offer a substitute for the tacos we wanted . No effort just a no. Rest of meal was fine . Much better staff for breakfast
The health food option was very good and the young man that served us was extremely friendly and attentive. The dessert was disappointing ( cheese cake).
Lovely carvery , we love the village , real value for money is the carvery x
The cutlery and glases were filthy and fill of soap residue. The food left us all feeling unwell . The meats were all overcooked and dry. The gravy was watery and the veg was raw.The place should have been good. The starters were nice as were deserts. But we think the soup made us feel unwell.
