In his first independent effort Chef Jason hopes to fill guests with a warm familial feeling. He extends a full heart to the dining room and his energy is palpable, bouncing from kitchen to table describing the food and his love of all things it encompasses. Playfulness, authenticity, and unrestrained laughter pour through the kitchen and onto your plate.
Fantastic Food. Really friendly staff! Will definitely go back!
Glacial kitchen grinding out good food.
Food was good, and Adam (our server) made it exceptionally awesome!
Everyone is so hot on this place. It's just OK.
Décor - gray
Outside dining - off dirty sidewalk with cars driving by
Food - ok, but nothing to fight for parking over
Very fun sitting outside but one of the pa
This was EVERYTHING and more, then what was expected.
As it had gotten a bit cooler, I opted to sit indoors. I enjoyed it-the energy was amazing and just electrifying. My Mom did not enjoy it was much. Though as the meal progressed the volume lowered, and she could hear herself-again.
So from the appetizer- a flavorful corn & risotto arancini - the salad of green & wax beans -sugar snap peas, shallots, pean tendrils - Our pasta entries a tagliatelle with shrimp and my orecchiette with sausage to the shut the barn door and paint it red - AMAZING roasted bread which was in theory to dip into the pasta sauce though did not make it as it was served with this delightful pork butter and pickled veggies. Everything was just bursting with flavor.
I loved the food. The lamb chops were superb. The wine is overpriced and $25 for corkage is exorbitant.
The food was okay. The prices were way too high. The server was very kind. The restaurant was crowded and much too loud. The bathroom was clean.
This is my all time fav restaurant in the area. I live for the brunch and we go every weekend. The pasta is all homemade with creative dishes. The service is second to none. I have been coming here for a year plus and I love it more and more each time I go. They are very accommodating with menu items as in leaving things out for dietary needs. The outdoor seating area is amazing in the summer! Just a really amazing spot! Highly recommended by a very fussy eater!
The staples I always get were great. Bone Marrow, Oysters were great, The actual pasta dishes were alright. Not as good as they have been before. The dish with the beef tongue has cold and hard peas. Not sure if they were suppose to be like that. I've been here a handful of times, probably my least favorite experience.
Trying not to give up on it yet.
There is nothing I can say but kudos for our experience at Ellies! The food service and atmosphere was energetic and wonderful! The lasagna, cauliflower, and vegetable salad were all outstanding! A must except-leave the car at home and take Uber or Lyft!
Food is yummy..want to try a lot more things so I'll be back.
4th time here in 6 weeks. Always great.
Love this place!
Fourth visit in last six weeks, fantastic....looking forward to the 5th
Wonderful restaurant! Food was exceptional. I do wish they had more vegan choices. We told our neighbors and they went the next night and also loved it!
Been many times for dinner and finally had a chance to try the brunch. It did not disappoint. Hannah was a great server!
My husband and I enjoyed our delicious dinner on the outdoor patio. Evelyn was particularly helpful in helping us figure out where to park and modifying our reservation.
We would definitely return!
Debated on going somewhere else when I had my best friend visiting from out of town, since I took her to Ellie's last time she was here, but we all agreed that Ellie's is consistently good so there was no need for further discussion. Love this place. Go here!
Outstanding and flavorful food, wonderful service. Highly recommend.
An improvement over my last visit. Although we only ordered couple pasta dishes (pappardelle and gnocchi) and dessert, we still enjoyed the food.
Corkage a bit steep for this place.
food was fantasic, adam was a great server but you could tell he was a little slammed. we were seated by the kitchen so it was pretty loud with lots of movement. wish we had booked a table in a corner or on the patio, but overall we had a fun time!
We had a great time at Ellie's. It was our first time and we had such a wonderful evening. The food was truly excellent and plentiful. We started with meatballs and several exquisite pastas. Every dish was an array of complex flavors and All were DELICIOUS!!
Our waiter and all the staff were professional, knowledgeable about the food and efficient. We will be back!!
Phenomenal layering of flavors. Already a favorite dinner destination, now a new favorite brunch spot. Don’t miss the habanero sauce!
Ellie's has become my favorite restaurant in Long Beach and is great for either brunch or dinner. Amazing quality and the service is consistently above par.
This place has such an interesting, exciting, fresh, modern take on Italian cuisine. Everything I've had on the menu has been delicious. I would argue to say, best food in Long Beach!
This was a very sad day for me. I go to Ellie’s often. It’s my favorite restaurant in Long Beach. I made a reservation and was seated a half hour after. Ok. Bummer but not a game changer. I get it. You’re busy. The hostess brought complimentary wine and an appetizer to keep the peace. Awesome! Love it! Then, our service was pretty crap. The wait between food was loooooong and because we had been waiting so long we were huuuungry. Usually, my waiter is ALWAYS James. He always killed it! Murdered it. Explains the dishes in detail and gets you excited about your meal. Always on top of it. I fear my last visit was not this way. Will it detour me from returning... heck no. The food is amazing and I’m addicted to pork butter. But I was thoroughly disappointed and hope my next visit is less of a downer.
We were visiting Long Beach and looked on OpenTable for a restaurant with great reviews near our hotel. Ellie's had great reviews plus it is my daughter's name, so it seemed destined to be our choice. After a little challenge finding parking (definitely recommend using a ride share service if you can), we were seated right away in their outdoor space. The ambiance was lovely and the service was excellent. The food was definitely the star though. We loved our appetizers and pastas. Everything was delicious! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for delicious Italian food with a California flair.
Good food! Great service!
Fantastic place. Adam our waiter was phenomenal. Will come back
So good! My husband and I snuck away for date night- first time visitors to Ellie’s. We did the risotto balls, shrimp and melon salad, 2 different pastas and bread pudding for dessert. Everything blew us away. We WILL be back!
This visit was enjoyable and delicious. They seem to have fixed the music to skew more towards the age of the patrons. As usual, the check was double what we usually pay at other neighborhood places but once in awhile we like to visit. The prices skew high but the flavor is there.
Bad sitting, no wine glasses...you have wine in water glass
Food is really good
Outstanding!! The service was awesome but the chef here is AMAZING - we have been twice and everything we’ve tried has been beyond delicious - I highly recommend going here for a special occasion - we were celebrating my husband’s birthday - very very pleased!! 🙂🙂🙂
Great food to share. Lovely staff. Great outdoor dining.
While tucked away in an unassuming neighborhood corner, Ellie’s is well known by Long Beach foodies as some of the best in the city. The dishes make unlikely and sophisticated flavor combinations that absolutely sing. During this visit we enjoyed a delightful cauliflower prepared with a wonderfully piquant balsamic, mint, and a concentrated hit of salty-sour in the relish. It was perfect in every way, as was the orchiette pasta with sausage, roasted grapes, and beets. This is a restaurant where you can try absolutely anything with the utmost confidence that the result on your palate will delight and satisfy. Truly a gem.
The food is amazing!!! The space is small, sit outdoors if you can it can get a bit smoky inside. The service is usually fantastic, this time not so much. Great place for a date!
We consider ourselves foodies and have dined at incredible and famous places all over the world. Yet, here is this tiny restaurant owned and operated by a relatively young Chef that can stand up to them all. His mastery of a fusion of tastes and textures makes us want to dine there every night. The seafood crudo, with an array of flavors that are almost impossible to describe, His vegetables ... roasted cauliflower with smoked eggplant puree, brocollini on a bed of mustard greens with amazing enhancements. The homemade pasta paired with the most amazing sauces....... all a testament to the magic that goes on here! Jason is the Chef and he will be a known celebrity some day. Better you eat at Ellie's now before everyone else knows about it!
Incredibly delicious food with flavors that were next level and lovely wait staff
