It was great. Now closed. It has been replaced by the even better One One Four
We had a lovely time with delicious food, beautifully presented in an attractive setting. The staff were very polite, smiley and anxious to please. I was a little disappointed that despite having emailed well in advance we had to ask for the gluten free option (medical necessity) to be specially prepared as there was no gf option on the menu. Also the room was very cold but the restaurant had been closed for a few days over xmas apparently and took a while to warm up, though we arrived at 1 so it should have been warmer really although it did warm up after an hour or so.
ThIs is an amazing restaurant....The food and quality is always good and would say it is the best restaurant in Teddington!
A stunning French Bistro with all the trimmings. Patient waiters and waitresses who will speak to you in french, even if you aren't very good. Mouth watering food and drink in a gorgeous Parisian style ambience. Worth every penny.
Fantastic food, service and ambience. Possibly my favourite restaurant in London.
I have been to this restaurant on many occasions and it always lives up to expectations with its excellent food and service, and Vincent's laugh of course......
Absolutely superb! We have dined at Retro Teddington on many occasions but I have to say all of our party voted it the best meal ever. Every single one of the delicious dishes was cooked to perfection, each plate was beautifully & artistically presented & the attention that the outstanding Maître d' Vincent & his waiting staff paid us was second to none. Thank you all for a wonderful experience. Joyeux Noël et a bientôt...
I always enjoy dining at Retro. The food is always excellent and the service attentive. In a world full of bland chain eateries, Retro is a haven of French chic and fine dining at very reasonable prices.
Fantastic little restaurant and perfect for a romantic date. Airy rooms, but also cosy and quiet ideal for an intimate occasion.
Food was delicious and just right for a special date. Gluten free choice was available, but it might help to offer a completely GF pudding and some GF oatcakes on hand to have with the cheese. However, in no way detracted from a lovely venue!
The patron is welcoming and really friendly and the staff were great. Definitely going back there again!

Lovely meal at Retro. We have been customers over a 10 year period and we've never had a bad experience whether it is a party, family meal or couple. Friendly and relaxed but attentive service, pretty presentation and great flavour. Portions not too bijou nor too enormous. Just great.
We had a fabulous Sunday lunch for my husband's 50th birthday. It's a beautiful, stylish restaurant, great for lunch or for an evening occasion. Service was really friendly and helpful and the food was magnificent. I particularly enjoyed the venison. My teenage vegetarian daughter really enjoyed her meal, and the waiter was very helpful in talking her through what was on her plate. Lovely wine, lovely desserts - can't wait to go back.
A very disappointing evening. The food left a lot to be desired. The portions were small and the presentation too elaborate.
The roast turkey dinner with shredded vegetables and the meat piled high into a tower with a boiled potato.
The fruit trifle was dry and was most unappetising
We will not be going back.
Only people there for a lovely lunch. Felt like home dining. It is WONDERFUL value for a 3 course lunch.
A pre-Christmas family dinner, warmly greeted and great food. A lovely evening.
Really delicious lunch with wonderful wine, all the family enjoyed it from child age 10 to grandmother . Would cross London again to return
The kitchen coped brilliantly with all of our dietary requirements. One vegan, two non garlic eaters and one no red meat eater. All dishes were tasty and filling, so much so that sadly none of us could manage dessert. Service was excellent. We had a lovely dinner thank you.
Really nice evening in stylish surroundings. Food was beautifully presented and served by friendly staff.
Lovely local restaurant - good food presented to a high standard and friendly service. Quite expensive overall so would go back again but only for a special occasion.
One of my favourite eateries that never disappoints. Wonderful food, great service and an attitude that always goes that extra mile. Thank you all for yet another delicious, delightful evening.
This was our 40th wedding anniversary and we had the best dining out ever. The food was truly delicious and every mouthful worth savouring. Coupled with a special bottle of red and pudding wine to top it off. We were a very happy couple.
We rediscovered Retro this week and were reminded of how good it is. Excellent set price menu, just the right number of choices. The food was excellent with charming service to match. Great Jazz evenings too. We will be booking our return soon.
Fantastic, leisurely lunch. Lovely choices from small menu and MUCH better value in every sense than the various chains in the high street.
Great food - great wine selection
Just had a most delightful meal out with very attentive and charming service. So lovely
Amazing food - perfect ambience
We love this local, independent restaurant. The new Autumn menu is a triumph, with our favourites being the mackerel starter and wild mushroom tortellini - beautiful dishes. Everything is fresh, seasonal and made on the premises and always served with exceptional care and attention.
I have been meaning to go here for ages, they have just changed the menu and I had the lemon soul which was delicious , my friend had the pork belly which he also said was delicious. The waiting staff were delightful and informative , very enjoyable evening
Another wonderful meal from Chef Francois at Retro. The tomato tart was delicious and, even though I am not a fan of goat's cheese, this was so subtle that I ate it! The chateaubriand is always fantastic but the crowning glory was the 'melon soup with frozen green tea souffle' for dessert: inspired and just fantastic. How fortunate we are in Tddington to have such a brilliant independent restaurant on our doorstep, given the proliferation of mediocre chains along the High Street.
Another week-before-birthday, so another excuse to go to Retro.....
Well, my husband's sister was visiting, so we thought she should join in the fun.
My starter = salmon assiette, keta caviar, seaweed tartare, saffron mayonnaise.
Being Welsh, I expected 'seaweed' to be laverbread, but no, this was crunchy, rockpool-flavoured [what - you've never put your head in a rockpool? Come on...!], with a variety of 'salmons', including mousse. One of the best concoctions to go on a plate.
The others' starters: the pork terrine, which is always great, here. Mains - they had chicken - superb, with really intense flavour. Mine = hake; a substantial fillet, with really delicate tastes including some saffron potatoes.
Proof that we were very happy was the second bottle of Pinot Grigio. Well, it was an almost-birthday..................... The birthday boy and his sis had puddings of eclair with whiskey jelly and coffee ice cream. That slowed them down. The rest of the day was very, very mellow!
Thanks again to chef and everyone else, especially for the candle in the chocolate eclair.
Retro bistro offers the full package. The food is beautifully presented, imaginative and above all very tasty. The service matches the food in its excellence; prompt but not intrusive and all with a smile.
I would and do, recommend Retro , it is definitely the best restaurant in the area.
Really very good food, the carpaccio beef and the crab starters were outstanding. The wine list was not extensive but had a great selection and well priced.
Nice for a higher-end brasserie meal
Fantastic service. Great food. It was our anniversary and we came with our LO (18 months). It was amazing!
We went there for our 30th Wedding Anniversary but have been there before many times. It is not cheap at around £100 for two but the food is always excellent and the service outstanding and very personal. The decor is good with oil paintings and it is a classy place to be. We will go there more as it is always a great pleasure.
I had lunch here last week with 7 friends. It was my first visit though they had all been before.
We all had the set lunch menu. The food was delicious and very well presented. There was however a slight issue as firstly 2 of us were going to order gaspacho but we were told they didn't have any left. Then the 8 of us ordered our main courses and when they arrived, 2 of the orders were wrong. My friend couldn't eat the fish so I took hers and gave here my vegetarian dish. The other lady didn't want the fish either so asked for the vegetarian dish and was told that had finished too. She agreed to have chicken but had to wait for it to be cooked, so she had to eat it on her own...
It was just a bit disappointing that with a fairly limited menu of 3 choices of each course, there was not enough for us all to have our first choices, particularly as we didn't feel that the waitresses were very concerned. It would have been a nice gesture, say, to offer the lady who had to eat on her own, a complimentary coffee.
Not cheap but given the quality of the food it represents good value. Nice range of wine with by the glass options. Would highly recommend Retro !! Staff attentive and made our wedding anniversary a great occasion.
Great Restaurant and best in Teddington. The set menu is good value
As usual the food was excellent as was the service. My grouch was the price of the two aperitifs that my wife and I had. We each ordered a Kir Royale. the amount of Kir in the drink was minimal and the wine was not champagne or if it was the bottle had been open a long as there was virtually no fizz. I did not complain at the time as it would have spoilt the ambience of the evening. However when I received the bill I was appalled at the price for these two poor cocktails. £21 I did then complain as I considered this price outrageous .
We love it here - really top notch food and drink and excellent value, but the service, while always friendly and welcoming, is a little on the slow side.
Fantastic place to eat, you won't find a better lunch menu anywhere!
