Best breakfast I’ve ever had. Could not recommend The River Cafe enough. Wonderful and attentive staff with food to match!
A must do when in NYC. Perfect location riverside in Brooklyn, overlooking Manhattan.
Wonderful food and superb service from welcoming and professional team.
Love this place. Ambiance, Food, Service. All top notch.
What can I say about the restaurant that has not been said already? Answer probably nothing!
We had a wonderful time and although it is comparably expensive it was worth every penny and the view is spectacular😀
Wondeful experience. Great food and service
Very expensive, but the place has great ambience, great food, and the service is very friendly.
The most wonderful, romantic place. Perfect service, amazing view, s beautiful room.
Outstanding! Had the most delightful dining experience at The River Café.
The ambiance cannot be beat. Simply breathtaking views of Manhattan. My only negative is if you are a vegetarian you pay the fix menu price as someone enjoying the main menu. For example, I had crab cakes and lobster and my husband had vegetables and mushrooms and we both paid the $145 pre-fix price. I would think vegetarians should have a different price... other than that the meal was wonderful. Would go back again!
This trip to the River Cafe offerd the best food we've ever had there and the usual stellar vistas. Our Maitre d', Josh Brown was very accommodating and got us a window seat which really please our friends who had never been there before. The bar staff were very nice to us and very attentive as was most of the wait staff. However, what could have been the first perfect 5 star evening had a damper put on it by our head waiter (tall bald gentleman) who was brusk and unwelcoming. He kept us waiting for more than 10 minutes after we sat down until I called him over and requested some bread service to keep the cocktails we had at the bar at bay until dinner arrived - others around us had already gotten bread. I was greeted with an excuse about we don't usually do bread service till............I had to cut him off politely and request the service. We were very civil with everyone all night. My wife and our friend were also not offered a rest for their purses - others around us had them. It amazes us that a waitstaff who depend on tips (in our case over $1100 check total) can be unpleasant. The waitstaff at Manhatta, where we had lunch the next day, was wonderful all the way around and they are a no-tipping restaurant - fixed service amount included - go figure.
Every detail at The River Cafe' is outstanding!
Girls weekend highlight from the champagne to the dessert...
Absolutely the most quintessential restaurant in the City ( NYC, Brooklyn etc.)
We went to the River Cafe based on a recommendation from friends. This was due to the view. However the view does not compensate for OK high end food at outrageous prices. Understand marks ups for restaurants but $57 plus 18% for low end wine is a joke. The restaurant has attempted to cram as many tables as possible into the venue. Hence you are best advised to spend your money at other restaurants that offer significantly better value for the food quality. Not recommended.
Gorgeous dinner at a very special restaurant .
Birthday dinner for my beau. Food tasted excellent. Only thing that would have made me give it 5 stars across the board is if the portions were bigger considering the prefix menu of $145 per person.
By far, one of the best experiences of my entire life. Every dish, every presentation, every pairing was made with so much purpose and passion, it was palpable, and palatable. It was my fiancé’s birthday as well as our anniversary so I decided to go with the 6 course meal and the pairings. So worth it.
Every single dish brought out was beyond exquisite and delectable, some of the most memorable where the crab stuffed shrimp, the Halibut, the aged parm ravioli with shiitake broth, and of course, the highlight, Foie Gras! I’ve had it a handful of times before but this one was cooked to absolute heavenly perfection. So much so, I had our Maitre D mention it to Chef Brad Steelman and he agreed to meet us. He requested we meet him in the kitchen, where we had a tour of his immaculate kitchen and showed us all the upgrades after hurricane Sandy flooded them.
Chef Brad is an absolute gentleman and a scholar of his craft. His artistic culinary experience is one that must be encountered!
Although the price is steep, I wanted the chef to have free reins of his culinary artistic freedom and it was undoubtedly one of the best choices I made. My Fiance was floored as well with the overall experience, and also agreed it was one of her best culinary experiences she’s encountered, and we love to travel and wine/dine in elite circles.
I recommend this experience to anyone looking to be wowed, and to anyone who appreciates good food and is not afraid to think and eat outside the box. If you have the taste buds of a toddler, then I’d suggest you look elsewhere, but if you want an explosion of flavors and a medley of palates then let the chef do his thing! You’ll thank me later ;)
Great service and ambiance. Food was served quickly and was delicious.
Service was nice but it is not as expected for a one star Michelin restaurant
Food was amazing. Everything would be perfect maybe with less guests: it’s a bit noisy for the class of the restaurant and the view could be even better
My favourite restaurant in America! Stunning view, a different arrangement of fresh flowers on each table, welcoming, expert staff and a perfect pianist. Food and wine fantastic- a sumptuous treat.
Wonderful Experience our 10 year wedding anniversary! Highly Recommend!!!
I’ve been going to the River Cafe for over 30 years and it is my favorite restaurant without question but this past year, has not been the best. The past few times I’ve gone for dinner the food has had far too much salt. So much that it ruined what would have otherwise been a fantastic fresh tuna appetizer. The service is off as well. We’ve had to ask several times for drinks before they come and flag down someone for service. I will continue to go but will be sure to ask for no salt as you can always add your own and hope that the service steps up a bit as well. It’s still a fantastic place!!
Very nice restaurant I Recommend it to friends
We were here for my birthday on Saturday. Such a great experience! Food was not only delicious, it was presented beautifully. Wait staff was amazing - friendly and engaging while still being incredibly efficient. And the views from the windows facing the East River are stunning. In a word, it was perfect!
This was undoubtedly the best dinner I have ever had. My friend and I were visiting New York (it was my first time, and her second) and we wanted to have one fancy dinner. This place has an absolutely phenomenal view of Manhattan so I would definitely recommend going at night. We were promptly greeted and checked on regularly, the food was always promptly delivered and plates taken away promptly when we finished. I was a bit skeptical on the service since we are two 21 year old girls and look young, but we were treated fabulously. It is expensive, but completely worth the price. I left feeling full, and they even gave us complimentary Champagne and window seating to enjoy it. Would absolutely recommend to everyone looking for a nice dinner.
Had the pleasure of dining @ The River Cafe to celebrate our anniversary. The Maitre d’ was able to seat us @ a window table, so we enjoyed an amazing meal with impeccable service and a beautiful view of the NYC skyline!! This was an amazing experience...highly recommend, but it’s expensive. ; )
Very romantic restaurant ! Great view and sorrundings. However there was a lot of noice and a very bad accustic in here!
Mater d was wonderful. Special attention the whole time. Food bursts of flavor on tongue. Presentation of food spectacular too
Excelente lugar, con excelente servicio y ambiente!
Wonderful view, food and ambience, will be back
The restaurant and experience was amazing, but there were a lot of fruit flies.
There are any number of very special wonderful eating and drinking experiences to be had in NYC. There is however , only one River Cafe. It is very special in every way you speak about a dining experience. A true joy to be able to be a part of. Staff , ambiance, service , presentation , food , wine list , trying to think of something to complain about but can’t think of a thing. One more thing ,,,,,,, so nice to have an enforced dress code. Appreciated not having a table of people in cut offs or worse , ruining the serenity of the beautiful surroundings .
We went to the River Cafe after our elopement and everything was fantastic! Can't fault it and the food was delicious. Amazing view and outstanding service :)
excelente vista de la ciudad, quizas las mesas son pequenas, lo que se paga en el river cafe sin duda es la vista de la ciudad
Really good food although the vegetarian selection could have been most creative. Friendly staff although perhaps a little stuffy. Amazing location with extraordinary views of Manhattan. Perfect for a r ally special occasion.
You know when you go to the River Cafe that you are going to have a special night of ambience. But to our surprise the food lived up to the Michelin rating. We highly recommend the River Cafe to celebrate a great night.
RC never disappoints! Fab service coupled with exceptional food makes for a perfect evening!
River Cafe is a perfect location for that special evening with someone. I truly enjoyed my experience there and would return.
