ROKA - Aldwych
I will be back definitely I’m going to have to make it my regular place of eat
The black cod was good though other dishes were very mediocre.
Sushis and tartars are amazing
I recommend also the dumplings and grilled king prawns and for dessert the yogurt and almond cake!!
Scallops are overpriced (we thought it was £8.70 per skewer of 2 or 3 scallops but it is actually £8.70 per scallop)
Not as great as Roka Mayfair. Good food but way too noisy and the service is disorganized.
The food was terrific - and always consistent in Roka. However, the restaurant was full and very noisy. There were a number of large (and rather drunk & loud) tables.
Dined at Roka many times - mostly Mayfair. Aldwych fell far short of the mark on this occasion. One os the starters arrived 10 minutes late, likewise one of the mains was delayed. The finale was the waiter knocking over our wine bucket, telling is the bottle was empty and refusing to replace it. Asked to speak with the manager who then resolved the matter. Overall not the Roka experience we are accustomed to - I'll stick with Mayfair in future!
Love the food. Some slight keenness to get us to order at the start. Four times in ten minutes with two different people. Aside from that a great nigjt
Absolutely amazing experience. Highly recommend their 15th anniversary set tasting menu!
Incredible flavours - special treat time
Beau cadre, cuisine délicieuse , service top
Get the lamb chops, yellow tail sashimi, Black cod. You wont regret it.
This type of Japanese fusion isn't for me.
Great location and service for a pre-theatre meal and the food in the fixed price 4 course menu was sublime.
A friend and myself had a reservation here for my birthday and it was brilliant. A happy birthday message and candle came out with dessert which was a special touch.
Great food, attentative service. The room gets very loud ... great to start a night out, less great to actually catch up with friends or have a date.
Perfect Spectacular bellisimo
I had visited the Canary Wharf Roka for lunch a few times before booking Roka Aldwych for a family dinner. I was not disappointed. We arrived early and were welcomed warmly and sat at the bar for a while where we chose from the interesting cocktail menu. We were then seated and had very attentive and charming service from the start. We were a party of omnivores vegetarians and pescatarians and all of us found plenty to chose from the a la carte menu. The food was absolutely delicious .We had yet more cocktails and they were also very good. There is a good sake menu too. We would particularly recommend the miso aubergines the sea bream from the robata and all the side dishes. Surprisingly the desserts were fantastic. Those who had the chocolate peanut and banana dessert were raving about it. Obviously it’s not cheap but we had a really enjoyable evening.
Was very good although some of the waiting staff could make more of an effort to say what the dish is, it sometimes felt felt like they were rushing to get to the next table. Service otherwise was really very good.
It was such a treat to have such fresh seafood in London. It was all delicious but the swordfish steak special was our favourite. We expected the environment to be a bit stiff but
Food is still of decent quality although service has considerably dropped. They didn’t even serve us wasabi for the sashimi sat.
Service was horrible. It took us 20 minutes to flag someone down to get us water and to order food. It seems like we had no server assigned to our table. At some point it took at least 45 minutes between one set of dishes and another to arrive. We had to go down to reception to get someone’s attention as the waiters were simply not passing by or looking at our table.
Great food and restaurant. Very attentive staff. Would most definitely recommend.
Outstanding food, I don’t recall having better Japanese cuisine. My only concern was the price but then we should not have ordered nearly everything on the menu 😆🤦🏽♂️
Beautiful restaurant, would highly recommend it!
The chefs are in the middle and you can watch them cook the food, really adds to the experience!
It is expensive but worth it if you want something special!
Lovely waiter, very attentive. Amazing food and drinks, would definitely go back.
Amazing food and brilliant service.
The food was amazing overall. We had the vegan taster menu for two and every plate that came was excellent. They charged us £70 per person for the menu but for some reason we were charged extra for some tofu which I failed to notice until after we had left. Either way the food was so good that I don’t mind. The atmosphere was nice however it was quite loud in there as it often is in London restaurants. The service was great too! If you like Javanese food then give it a try. Oh they also have an excellent selection of Japanese whiskeys if that’s something you are in to.
Service was very patronising despite the fact that I told them that I am a regular at Roka restaurants.
Very annoying indeed.
Been here few time. Always good, but only this time the wagyu was burned and it tasted just like smoke.
Sadly we order 2x.
Worst set menu of my life. No ambience.
The food at Roka was delicious and it is really good value for money. The brunch menu gives you so many different dishes to try and there is a small supplement for certain dishes. They encourage sharing dishes which works really well as you get to sample lots of food from their menu and the portions are very generous. The staff are very attentive and constantly bringing more dishes up. I would highly recommend trying the brunch menu.
Great service, attenti
Brilliant food, consistent quality & ever dependable. Thanks.
Great experience, the ambience, food and service was great
I cannot fault a single thing. Delicious food, super efficient but not pushy service, sexy ambience. You guys are stars!
Service pretty slow and inattentive. Food was mixed. Tempura, Tuna Tartare and Tofu were excellent, hotpot pretty bland and tasteless. Think the message is only eat things beginning with a T!
The brunch is so delicious. So worth the amount especially because it unlimited wine /proscessco.
Beautiful food, clean , modern and refined. Will go back again and again
Anniversary didn’t like the atmosphere as it was really hot and no ventilation in the restaurant the air conditioners was not functioning properly. It was hard to stay long in there.
