Food was delicious. Very attentive staff. Worth the trip down from Killington. We will be back.
Great find in Rutland, VT. Not only were dishes presented beautifully, but they tasted delicious. Service was very attentive
Always a wonderful place to return, Roots surprises us every time with new delicious possibilities.
Overall, a delicious restaurant. However, all 4 of us were really cold - the room needed to be heated a bit more. Additionally, the restaurant's interior design/environment doesn't align with the amazing food, it felt like our table of four was in a hallway rather than a restaurant. But still worthwhile because of quality of food and service.
This was our first experience at Roots as we were visiting from out of state to attend a show at the theater nearby.
Everything was excellent they atmosphere is very nice and inviting. We enjoyed the wide variety and selection of appetizers and entrees which are not all of the typical choices at all the other restaurants. We will definitely return to Roots when back in the area highly recommend!!
Service was very good. Food was ok. There were 4-5 flavors to every dish and it was just too much. A little bit of editing would make the food better. The cooking was very good and meat was done well.
Our server, David, was great as usual!!
My cheeseburger was delish and the French fries!! Outstanding.
Inovative, delicious flavors. Wonderful service, can’t wait to go back!
The food was excellent and our server was very helpful and gave us good tips for what to pick. Would definitely recommend to friends and go back again. Thanks!
Excellent food. Chef willing to accommodate and delight with vegan options and special occasions.
Not an intimate setting at all. A cramped and open setting and other patrons sit just 10 inches away. You have better space and ambiance at Denny’s.
I recently visited with a close friend and we were able to catch up without feeling like the server was rushing us. Once done with our food we decided to move to the bar to continue catching up without taking up a table. The server and the bartender were both great, very friendly without being in your face. I had a burger with a side of sweet potato hash (YUM!) and my friend had the cod special which had a cauliflower puree side that was very tasty. We finished dinner off with the carrot cake which was delicious! We will definitely be back.
We arrived on time fir our reservation & were seated immediately. The service was up to par for an upscale restaurant & the food was very good. There were many vegetarian & vegan options.
Outstanding service prior to arrival and all the way thru until we walked out the door. Can't wait to go back! The scallop special was AMAZING!
Great food, great service, varied menu with kid-friendly options (no explicit kids menu). That said, restaurant had high chairs but no changing tables in the bathrooms.
This review is difficult for me for a few reasons, not least of which because of something that happened before I even arrived. But first I’ll tell you the food was okay, the service very good, and the ambiance was comfortable. Maybe that’s harsh for Rutland VT, but I’ve dined at many restaurants in many places and know Roots is not excellent.
I had made the reservation many days before to be sure we had a table. 6:30 PM was the only reasonable time available, so I booked it. The morning of our reservation I received a recording on my voicemail that there would be a party coming for the table at 8:00 PM so I should be prepared to finish my meal by then. “Just want you to know.” In all the years of reserved tables this was the first time I felt unable to relax with my meal because I might be eating too slow or ordering too many courses!
I’ve been seated as a walk-in many places with the caveat that the table was only available for a limited time, and that’s okay, but I have never been told my reservation had time restrictions. I was offended by this, wasn’t able to fully enjoy my time there, and will not return at the risk of similar treatment.
First of all the service was excellent. The waitress was outstanding! Our salad and rolls were excellent also. The choice of potatoes with my meal could have been better.
Prices were a bit high, waitress was great so we left a great tip but the food was just alright, coupled with the high prices it wasn't really worth it to spend our anniversary there. Glad we went but don't think i'll be coming back.
Venison chop Amazing!
Pleasant dinning experience.. service a bit slow.. though it's was acknowledge..
Great food drinks and service and very good value for the price
Our favorite local restaurant, we were there for my wife’s birthday and the staff made it extra special for us. The food is locally sourced and truly a joy to the palette. We highly recommend Roots the restaurant!
Very good , unusual and tasty menu!
Neat little restaurant, on the more upmarket side, in the VT ski area. Not a very large menu selection, but one of the things they do is VT cheese fondue!
We would return! Goof food and excellent service. We would request David again—outstanding server. Try the fondue appetizer.
The food was spectacular. We will be back soo. 😉🤗
I love the food but the new location is very noisy! Ambiance was much better in old location.
We arrived a little late for our reservation and the restaurant was very accommodating, letting us know how much time we had and then when they received some cancellations letting us know we had no time crunch.
The service was great and food fantastic!
We had eaten at the "old" Roots but this was our first visit to the "new" Roots in its new location.
Absolutely fabulous!! I definitely will be returning soon.
A fantastic meal, excellent service, in an innovate setting. Worth the 50 minute drive from home. We’ll be back soon!!!
This was my first time in the new location (others in our group had been to both locations), and we loved it. I believe our server's name was Brooke, and she was knowledgeable, attentive, and helpful with dietary restrictions -- gold star for her! Food was delicious and portions were generous. We look forward to our next meal at Roots!
We came here while on family vacation at Killington over the Xmas holidays. The menu is quite promising but the dishes that we had were just lacking in that one single ingredient that brought the whole dish together. The fondue appetizer was very good. The beet salad was simple and good. Quinoa salad, lobster hash appetizer, ginger root soup and the cod were all average. Service was very good. Overall much better than the typical places around Killington and worth the 15-20 mins drive.
Great experience from the moment the water was poured until the last awesome piece of dessert was gone!
The best food in Rutland, hands down. Not inexpensive but worth the cost.
7:45 reservations Saturday eve. Service was great, cocktails and meals were creative and tasty.
New location a little hard to find but great surroundings. Excellent service helpful with choices. Good beverage choices. Good well prepared and many dishes innovative
We've been twice and enjoyed it both times very convenient to the Paramount theater in downtown Rutland.
Nice eclectic menu. Good vegetarian options. Nice wines by the glass selection.
From the moment we stepped into the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised. The decor was funky and the music spot on. The menu was just right with not an over abundance of choices and the wine list extensive. Our server was friendly without being annoying. Our food came and delicious is the word I would use.
Food was great, well rounded menu. Glad to see local farms noted. Waiter was friendly and attentive. It was a delicious meal. Highly recommend the cheese fondue. I look forward to going back.
The blueberry ginger jam with the crispy pork belly was a great idea and The acidity from the pickled onion and ginger was a great balance of flavors definitely will be coming back
