Roti Chai (Dining Room)
Roti Chai houses both a ground floor all-day Street Kitchen (open from midday Mon to Sun) and a lower ground Dining Room, serving a Prix Fixe menu for lunch (12pm -2:30pm, Mon to Fri) and an A La Carte menu in the evening (from 5pm, Mon to Sun).
Bookings for the Dining Room can be made through Opentable. The Street Kitchen accepts reservations for parties of 6 or more by phone or email and is otherwise walk-in.
HIGHCHAIRS, PRAMS & BUGGIES
Please be aware we offer high chairs on specific tables in the Street Kitchen only, subject to availability. At all times, we kindly request that guests leave any prams, buggies etc by reception.
Amazing food and some of the best service I have had in London - better than much more upscale restaurants in London. Our table was slightly delayed and the bartender took it upon himself to offer our party free drinks while we waited. Lovely waiter at the table as well who gave us great suggestions on the menu. Super recommended and will be back!
The food didnt taste good, lacked flavour! Ordered paneer and it didnt even taste like paneer. When a restaurant has a few dishes on the menu they are supposed to be exceptional dishes of high quality but this was a let down! The street kitchen food is a 1000 times better upstairs!
Best butter chicken I tried in London, 100% recommend.
Food is well flavoured however not quite spicy enough for me. In saying that the chilli chutney does the trick. The food is well worth the price, and most of the staff were really lovely and happy to answer any questions we had. I did however find the staff serving drinks a little slow, and in some instances a little rude when I ordering another bottle for the table. Otherwise, couldn't fault it.
Have visited twice, first time the food was absolutely tasty with flavours. Second time bland food nothing great whatsoever, not impressed.
Food was very nice, prawns in the starters was delicious
Excellent taste. Authentic Indian food. Good service.
Need to do better service. Waiters are not attentive, forgetful and at times lazy.
I really enjoyed my meal. Come hungry because you’ll want to try everything! The service was amazing and very accommodating and friendly. The dining room fills quickly so a reservation is important if you hope to experience ding here! Enjoy!
The first time I came here I was in the upstairs street food area and the food was fantastic. I booked this time the dining room as I wanted to make sure I could bring my partner to experience Indian food outside the usual curry from the local takeaway. Unfortunately, the dining room has a separate menu and it doesn't quite hit the spot in comparison to the upstairs street food menu.
I understand the concept of two separate dining experiences, however, the dining room left quite a lot to be desired in terms of food taste.
I would suggest that allowing diners in the dining room to also order some of the most popular bites from the street food menu would solve this problem rather than offering them to queue and wait for a table upstairs and then come and perhaps have enough time to fulfil their reservation.
We ended up ordering very little and eating very quickly as there was little that caught our eye on the dining room menu. A shame as last time I went I spent a lot more and ate a whole lot more, enjoyed the food a great deal more too.
Again, I understand the concept but one would expect the food to match the standard of the taste levels experienced upstairs, perhaps even exceed them?
Highly recommend the street food style menu in the no-reservation upstairs but cannot recommend the dining room.
Very unsual and unique menu choices... food was to an excellent standard
Combined with lovely ambience and lovely service!
Good ambience and decent taste but food pricey for the portions.
Another excellent meal at Roti Chai!
Food taste and value for money was not desirable
Very nice meal, decent service.
I’ve been here before many times but this time I brought someone who had not been and it was a let down.
The drinks order was taken as were our starters and our drinks turned up midway of us having our starters. The food comes out extremely quickly so you feel pressured to eat fast as the waitresses clear plates up as you eat - this happened during starters and main course.
The starters themselves were great, cannot fault that, but the main course was a let down. The saag ghosht was just watery saag with bits of lamb in there, and the butter chicken was no different.
Again the main course only came out later when we told the waitress to give us 10-15 minutes so we could actually relax a bit, but I was not impressed being a regular visitor this time.
Me and my friends had a good time. The food was nice. Loved the prawns.
The food is really good and the staff are very friendly.
A good value for money Indian restaurant in a rather expensive part of town. We went into the dining room and went for the Feast menu. This menu offered more and interesting choices, the portions were ample though I would have liked some more naan bread and the food was tasty. The service was discreet but helpful and the wine list was adequate. The ambience was a little on the dark side but still quite pleasant. We will happily return again.
Servers sucks but food was great
Nice food good service
Delicious food, very satisfying, lots of great flavours. Dishes are not too spicy and there is a great selection of wine to match.
Excellent Indian food! Pricey but yummy
Would go again and recommend others
great find at the Marble Arch end of Oxford street, really enjoyed the food in the restaurant and will go back to try the street kitchen
Food was okay but Service was worst. I would never recommend to anyone. Such a bad service.
We had two main dishes, one was fairly good, the other just so-so
Awesome food, loved the setting pretty chilled
Really great food, nice atmosphere but not too loud that we couldn’t have a conversation. Friendly staff and a lovely evening.
Great food, excellent ambience and vibe. Portions were the perfect too. Prefer this to dishoom, and you don’t have to wait an hour queuing for a table. A hidden gem, and would recommend to all. 10/10
Delicious chicken appetizers followed by a scrumptious lamb and spinach entree accompanied by dal and raita. The food was quite good although could have been a bit spicier for my taste. The wine was just fine. The only downside was the grumpy waitress.
Horrible experience. Roti chai used to be one of my favourite places and I got my entire family (visiting from India) here after for dinner and they had the worst time. Service was poor and food quality was nothing like it used to be. They refused to give a bigger plate for the mains even though we were dining in the fine dine restaurant and not the street kitchen. Never going back for sure.
Good Indian food to rival Dishoom and other famous places!
Best Indian food I’ve ever had (dining room). And that is saying a lot!
This is quick and simple Indian food done in a modern way. I'd say it was a simpler more accessible alternative to the likes of Dishoom. They were conveniently able to accommodate my vegan requirements. I would say the prices are a little elevated for what is essentially slightly fancy Indian fare.
Had such a lovely evening at Roti Chai & everyone said how much they liked it and how wonderful & reasonably priced the food was. Loved it & will definitely be back.
Great selection to choose from on menu. Wonderful flavors and best Indian we’ve had in awhile. Terrific service and ambiance
Im taking the time out to write this review as service was not good as had to ask 3 times for them to bring us condiments l, they forgot to bring 2 dishes out, non of staff smiled, starters were good but main courses were bland, they charged me for chutney. Not value for money
This was my first time in the Dining Room and I was not disappointed; I would say that it’s even better than the Street Kitchen upstairs. The food was excellent, quantities just right and the environment provided a lively atmosphere for our get together. Will definitely go back!
Superb food - lovely combinations of textures and flavours. Great drinks menu with some super cocktails and good wines to accompany the food. Everything we had was perfectly flavoured, although one dish a bit heavy on the salt (personal preference though). Service was good although a bit slow once they got busy. Would definitely go again.
