It is a shame that this restaurant fails to deliver an enjoyable dinner experience. The service is friendly and efficient enough and clearly they care about the food's quality and provenance. It's a disappointment, therefore, that they fail to make those ingredients sing. The excellent St John's sourdough was stale, probably fresh on Friday, but not great for £2.50 on a Saturday night. The rib-eye steak was juicy and tender, but for £28, we could have done with not being charged another £2.00 for a small pot of sauce and £4.00 for a portion of under-cooked fries. Folk would say I should have called them out at the time but the problem with that is that life is too short and it spoils the flow of the evening. Not good enough.

There are very few restaurants which have exceptional quality of food as good as Rotunda. The service is exceptional and you feel like a prince eating here. We have been attending for 6 years and have always left feeling like we have been fed and treated like royalty.

We have often eaten at the Rotunda before a concert. On this latest occasion the waitress was pleasant and did her best but was handicapped with limited English which led to confusion over the menu. Two of us were served with a lamb dish which was not on the menu we had been provided with and which we would have thought the supervisor or the kitchen might have realised was an issue. When we raised the problem we were given extra vegetables and an extra glass wine and not charged for a beer. We appreciated this gesture but were disappointed with the dish we were served with and did not get the one we had wanted.

it seemed they were short staffed. Despite their best efforts we waiting long to place orders. They messed up a few of our drinks order (where by they would bring two of the same drinks order) and then promised to take it off the bill which they did not. it was my friends birthday and were sweet to bring a cake out for her on the house. The food was okay. I had eggs royal. The salmon was the cheap stuff - which was hugely disapointing. the Birthday girl had a steak and egg which was fine.

Sat out by the canal on a summery evening celebrating my engagement - Rotunda was ideal. Food delicious (we had mains and desserts.) It was super busy and as we had to wait for mains the waiter kindly gave us a drink on the house. Love this venue.

Loud bar music made conversation in the restaurant uncomfortable. Service very slow. The waitress serving the wine clearly knew nothing about wine; could hardly open a bottle. Overcharged by 66% for the wine. Food, however, excellent, as always.

The Rotunda was recommended to me as a good place to meet a friend in a pleasant environment to catch up with news over lunch. The environment was fine and the staff helpful - they left us alone to talk for a long time which was nice. We had the set lunch menu and the food, however, was disappointing. For my main course I had a cheese and potato pie, which was very dull, with kale, which was so salty as to be inedible. They brought some more, but only after I'd finished the rest of the course, and the new kale was barely warm, not really cooked. My friend had honeyed figs for a starter, which were nice but swamped in far too much creme fraiche, and her grey mullet was just OK. We shared a chocolate brownie, which was delicious, but I felt uncomfortable at having invited my friend for such a disappointing meal.

The food was very tasty but quite expensive for what it was. The staff were not exactly rude but slightly intimidating and not overly pleased to serve us. There were a few mistakes with our orders and the service was slow, which was surprising given that the restaurant did not seem overly busy.

The restaurant was quite empty , we had to go to a meeting after and had only 40 minutes to eat therefore ordered one dish and conveyed our time frame .
We waited for 35 minutes , my salad was old and the bread they serve is not good . The two other people had salmon which was ok .
We had the feeling that there was no management in the restaurant . They apologised and gave us a discount which was nice .
Too bad because the view is lovely and it could be a special spot !

A very disappointing experience .We clearly had an inexperienced waitress who didn't really know what was going on -in answer to the question what the craft beers listed on the menu were the response was "they change every couple of weeks" without any attempt to find the names .It was a very busy evening outside on the terace with people having summer drinks and they seemed more interested in serving beers .There was only one other table taken in the restaurant but the service was painfully slow.
My steak and chips were cold (i know that steak is better if it has rested but tepid meat is not v appetising ) .The evening was summed up by a young waiter grabbing the remains of our white wine bottle and sloshing it in to our glasses (including my half glass of red)
All in all a bit of a shambles of a restaurant -probably good on the terrace for drinks but not to eat at

First impressions were good, friendly welcome and lovely setting by the river for pre dinner drinks. Unfortunately the restaurant was less impressive.
The service was lacking with seemingly uninterested staff.
The food was mediocre at best, the steak in particular was really not good. On the plus side our drinks bill was much lower than usual as no one asked if we'd like drinks when we sat down, the wine list had to be requested, and no offer to top up or get more drinks was ever made.
The bar was heaving as we left so perhaps better for drinks (the irony) than food. Overall a disappointing evening.

We enjoyed an excellent pre-concert dinner from their special two/three course menu. The team was friendly and professional and there was sufficient choice for us on the special menu. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of reasonably priced house champagne plus glasses from a list of well selected reds and whites. Water and good bread arrived swiftly and we relaxed as the food was served at a comfortable pace to suit the concert start time.

Delightful setting on the Regent's Canal, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Unfortunately service let them down. It seemed an age after we were seated until someone returned to take a drinks order. It was another 10 minutes until the same waitress returned to take orders again, having completely forgot the original one drink order. We had to ask for a children's menu (despite having a vocal 2 year old present). Another aeon until our dishes arrived: two uninspiring burgers (ordered well done, but suspiciously pink) and a bland pasta. A lemonade for the child had to be asked for twice, while the child's mac and cheese had to be chased and only arrived after the adults' mains were finished. We weren't asked during the meal if any more drinks were desired and only at the end when a manager asked as to our experience and if wanted pudding/coffee that we had the opportunity to provide honest (if unexpected for him) feedback. The experience concluded with our waitress accidentally tipping the contents of her tray over an unsuspecting lady diners head. The only positive was an attentive and jolly Spanish gentleman waiter who entertained our son. If only we had him our experience may have been different.
Nice surroundings, average food, bad service. Hopefully just a bad day they can improve on.

Was very disappointed with our Sunday roast beef and veg. We weren't asked how we liked our beef and were given a plate of 3 slices of stringy raw beef swimming in blood! Our Yorkshire pud was soaked in blood too. The veg was bland and boring. Everything was red due to roasted beetroot. Poor.
The desert ( orange caramal) 2 bites worth plus a chunk of orange with the middle pulp hard n chewy ...awful! Why chef?
We weren't given steak knives and when asked for them were told they didn't have enough so only gave them to people if they asked for one....why?
Cheese board was poor for the price. One type of cracker only .
Service was good.

We sit at 9:00. They take our order. At 10:15 they finally come to our table saying they've lost our order. All the time we were observing a staff of...20 people? Just chilling and doing nothing. None of the tables had food. We leave the restaurant. Embarrassing. I felt bad as I picked the restaurant for all my friends. Luckily we found another place opened at 10:30 on a Saturday where we had dinner. I never had such bad experience in a restaurant in London. Bring them out from OpenTable. They don't deserve to be in the OpenTable network.

Great location on the canal off of York Way. Probably easily missed but worth seeking out. If you are a meat lover this is the place for you. They are passionate about their food sourcing and all meat is butchered on site. Staff are great good wine list and option to eat out canal side in the sunshine. A super find and not too expensive
