Delicious food and outstanding service. The waiters were very knowledgeable about the menu.
Very enjoyable lunch. Interesting, well balanced and well seasoned dishes.
Attentive but not intrusive friendly service. Lovely meal and excellent coffee.
A stunning venue for a superb lunch. The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. One member of our party is diabetic which wasn't mentioned when the booking was made.A special dessert was delivered to the table without any fuss being made.Thank you to all concerned for making our lunch so enjoyable as well as memorable.
We had a wonderful birthday dinner here! It is classy but not
Star ratings say it all. One of the highlights of our weekend in London. Saturday lunch was superb and good value. Staff very attentive without being overly so.
We have dined here before and always been impressed. On this occasion we were staying at the Langham so eating at Roux at the Landau was a no-brainer.
The waiting staff are all so welcoming and friendly that just arriving at your table makes the evening feel special. The tables have sufficient clearance that you are not distracted by other diners.
The a la carte menu is somewhat restricted in its choices (roughly 6 options for each course) however the beautifully prepared offerings are a delight. Fish main courses are always a good option. This was preceded by the food gras and followed by a wonderful apricot soufflé.
The sommelier was excellent. In so many cases restaurants are expecting the waiting staff to undertake this role which is, in most cases, a disaster. Here we were pointed to a German reisling which I would never have thought of ordering yet it complimented the fish wonderfully.
A lovely evening and one that we are keen to revisit.
As an aside, we ate breakfast in the same restaurant the following morning and the same high standard was maintained!
This place really does have the WOW factor......The Tasting Menu in particular delivers food that only the very best chefs would first think of, leave alone create and then deliver....A must at £65 a head...You could pick 2 decent bottles of wine from the incredible list for the same price as the matched wines..up to you!
We were celebrating a 21st birthday with a light lunch. The service and food were both excellent and we look forward to returning in future.
The service was wonderful as was the food. A really enjoyable experience.
Generally positive, but slightly disappointing experience,
Lovely room, weird table for 2, very deep so that you feel like you’re sitting too far away from the other person, and too close to the tables on either side.
Service was well-meaning, but interrupted our conversation, pretty brusquely on 3 occasions, and one, eye-wateringly awkward moment when my client was addressed as ‘Mrs......’.
Food was OK. Three out of the 5 tasting dishes (ravioli, turbot and chocolate dessert) were good, 2, At including the first dessert, were disappointing.
Wines were good, sommelier good, welcome good. But overall a restaurant lacking that FOH brilliance that would raise the whole experience.
Great food, great service. Classic French cooking although not quite Le Gavroche but a very pleasant dinner nonetheless.
To noisy, to cramped, ok service but food completely underwhelming
Great restaurant, superb food and friendly staff. If you are looking for Michelin star then I would say the food is close but other areas let it down. For example when the starters came we had no cutlery... tbh as this was a fun evening it sort of added to the experience, showing that staff are human, sounds odd but certainly somewhere I would go back to
First visit after the refurbishment & change to menu.
Absolutely fabulous food.
We had the tasting menu, amazing food & great value for money.
Service great as usual & the choice of wine from the sommelier was a triumph.
Highly recommend a visit hear.
It's been a while since we dined at Roux at the Landau and I'm not sure why we stopped going. It was always excellent and this visit showed us that their high standards continue. The 3 course lunch at £30 including a glass of champagne represents excellent value although we never get out for the prix fixe! A second glass of Champagne, a glass of dinner wine and a liqueur doesn't come cheap and there's also a gratuity added. Nonetheless, these are our choices and nobody twists your arm. On the contrary, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly and appear to have the time to offer excellent service. I can see us returning again soon. Just one thing: the restaurant is circular and most of the tables for two are around the perimeter with one diner facing the wall. I joined my wife on her banquette for coffee and only then did I realise what I'd been missing. Facing the wall is a common problem but many restaurants incorporate mirrors so that you can still see what's going on. Diners at the Landau would benefit from this addition.
This is my favourite restaurant for lunch - high end, with a sense of occasion but not over stuffy nor pretentious. The two or three course lunch menu is exceptionally good value (at £30 per person for 3 courses + service charge). The costs do add up if you have wine (budget at least £40 per bottle), tea/coffee, brandy (!), etc. but I don't mind that: you don't have to have them and for me it's all part of the treat. Been here a couple of times now and will be coming back again.
Everything was perfect. We took the 3 course set lunch and added a cheese course. We also took advantage of the freeflowing Veuve Cliquot Rose option. Service was friendly and attentive, even though we were in an alcove (as requested) and could have been missed.
This was my fifth visit to a Roux restaurant and I've had some great experiences. This occasion was, sadly, spoiled by some poor service - the last thing I expected here.
Once again I had very important clients to entertain and, hopefully, impress. My guests had not been here before.
We were quite late arriving for lunch following a longer than expected business meeting but I did call and the response was understanding.
The problem was our waiter and waitress. Somewhat embarrassingly we had difficulty understanding him and he seemed less than patient. We were given the fixed daily menu but when I asked for my guests to also see the A la Carte menu the waiter said he would ask his manager. Not sure why that should have been necessary but, after some delay, the full menus arrived. Annoying.
Our waitress accidentally spilt water on our table, careless but these things happen but she left our table and went to another so I had to ask her to come back to mop it up!
Although we felt less than important, the two certainly found each attractive...
It must be said our food was well up to standard and we all enjoyed it. Thank goodness.
Thanks to a shift change we ended our lunch with another waiter who was exemplary and saved the day.
I paid over£300 for our lunch (three people), I think it's reasonable to expect great service at this level.
The worst breakfast I have had for many years
Food and service rubbish
The food continues to be delicious. We weren’t sure what to expect having read that it was recently refurbished. It was rather dark and quite different from our previous visits prior to the refurbishment. The central bar seems out of place. The lovely staff had rather unusual new outfits. Somehow the previous special ambiance is missing. When we booked we stated no capsicum. However, I was served some kind of capsicum with my steak. Much as we loved the meal, we are not sure if we would return when we wish to celebrate a special occasion again.
Very attentive staff.
Good food ... although portions could be larger.
Excellent wine list.
Unhappy that space was left on bill to add a gratuity when 12.5%had already been included.
The Landau didn't quite come up to my expectations. Front of house were very polite and welcoming but I found the waiting staff not as attentive as expected and a little impersonal. I was not shown any of the foods at the buffet section or offered any other items after I had finished my chosen dish (the avocado). I did get offered more juice and tea though.
I think this may be a better venue for an evening meal - maybe.
Excellent food ambience and service all the staff are amazing
It is easy to find fault with anything but to fault this establishment is difficult
I would have preferred the tables to have cloths as previously but it appears to be the trend these days.
The new counter which was installed in the refurbishment is a great improvement
The food was inventive and good, but not particularly seasonal (we were hoping for some English asparagus and /or green peas, but none was on the menu). The service was good at first, but the waiters seemed to lose interest as the evening waned (we arrived at 8.15pm, & chose the 5 course tasting menu. It took over 2 & a half hours to reach the fourth course.) It was extremely noisy too. A big disappointment, as I was expecting it to be comparable with Roux at Parliament Square, which is superb.
What a wonderful experience! The food and wine (tasting menu ) was excellent as you would expect, the service was superb.
This meal was to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary all staff went out of there way to make it extra special evening for us both, we shall definitely eat here the next time we visit London.
We went to Roux for to celebrate our birthdays and it didn't disappoint (it never does!) The food is fresh, seasonal, well-sourced and cooked to perfection. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive without being over-solicitous; the wine list is excellent and many are available by the glass. It's expensive, but worth it for a special occasion.
Great atmosphere, great service, great food.
I had the tasting menu with wine. Food portions were not overly big but I wasn’t left feeling hungry afterwards.
The waiter explained each of the wines and why they best accompanied each course. I’m not really a wine drinker but it was good to try something different for a change.
Even though the tasting menu wasn’t cheap I would definetly have it again.
Somewhere worth trying if you fancy a treat.
P.S. This may sound bizarre but I judge a place on the cleanliness of their toilets. They were spotless. Enough said! :)
I was treated to a lunch here by my partner for my birthday. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very special. I have longed to go to a Roux restaurant and I was not disappointed in the slightest. From the moment we arrived the waiting staff were attentive, friendly, highly professional and made us very relaxed. I did not feel I was being rushed at any point which allowed us to soak up the ambience which for me contributed to the whole experience. The wine list was a read in its own, which my partner and I did over a quality glass of prosecco. They offer the best wines that money can buy but also have a wide selection of reasonably priced ones. The food was nothing short of spectacular and one can tell that only the finest freshest ingredients are used to create dishes with flavour and finesse to savour. If one must talk of cost and price then I thought this was extremely reasonable (not just because my partner was paying!) and well worth the money for a special treat. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Exceptional meal, wine and service. Already planning when to come back! One of my top places to eat in London.
As a long time Roux devotee and Gavroche regular, I can't explain why I've never been to the Landau until now.
It was difficult to find fault at any stage of my lunch there yesterday, and I was delighted to see that there's a counter to sit at as well as table service. The menu and service is the same, both excellent. I went with a white asparagus starter and lamb chop main, both a darned good choice it turned out.
There was a minor error when I asked for a glass of Amontillado sherry to go with my asparagus starter, and was brought a Pedro Ximenez. If you know your sherries, you'll know a PX is very different to an Amontillado. It turns out they didn't have any Amontillado, and after a super discussion with the truly excellent sommelier, at his suggestion I went for a rather special German riesling, Dr. Burklin Wolf Gaisbohl Grand Cru 2014. The way the really rather minor error was handled was well beyond expectations. This is a true lesson in how great team can turn a small problem into a very positive experience.
The lamb chop with a Raz al hanout jus was accompanied by mashed potato. Without even tasting it, I said to the counter chef that it looked as good as Joel Robuchon mash, it turns out the chef is a Robuchon alumni. It's a fine puree with an artery-busting butter to potato ratio. Yum! The Ras al Hanout jus is reduced and the spice is subtle but very well balanced, which means I went away from red Bordeaux and, with the help of the sommelier again, I ended up with a 2014 merlot form Woodward Canyon, Columbia Valley, Washington state: it's quite a big wine.
The wine list, including the selection by the glass, is extensive and very well compiled.
Aside from the food and wine, a key part of dining out for me is the service, and here it was excellent, it was a real pleasure, thank you to all. Comparing it Le Gavroche, the benchmark of service, it's a more casual style, but equally it's clear that the results are the provenance of a complete thoroughbred.
Superb lunch, lovely surroundings, relaxed, very pleasant staff
Compared to other hotels that offer a set menu lunch, this is by far the best for its food and value for money that I have come across in London. Never fails to deliver. Beautiful room, delicious food, impeccable service and great value for money.
Great staff says it in one and the food.
A wonderful restaurant, good service and food and wine. Value for money, definitely.
Not surprised since this applies to the whole hotel
Many thanks. We will come back
Der Grad an Raffinesse, die aufmerksame, freundlich und unprätentiöse Bedienung und dass die Küche mit ihrem Einfallsreichtum auch verwöhnte Gaumen überraschen kann, das alles macht das Roux at the Landau besonders.
Excellent food, fantastic service by Antonella, Luigi and Andea, good atmosphere, creative cooking.
Excellent food and service. We had 3 courses and there wasn't a single fault we could find with the food or the service.
The beverages are a bit overpriced. A bottle of non vintage Clicquot Veuve was 110 GBP, more than the 3 course meal for 2 people.
Nonetheless would recommend.
Roux at the Landau is fantastic, the food is exceptional, the wine amazing and I've been lucky to visit a number of times.
What makes it even more special is the incredible service. Andreus, is the perfect sommelier and this visit I chose a red wine and a desert wine I would have overlooked without him. What a lovely man, I felt very special when he remembered me from a previous visit.
Simone also made our evening, great suggestions, we would have missed the delicious tomato salad without him. Really friendly, great service.
Thanks Andreas and Simone for a great evening.
Celebrating retirement. Michele Roux came to our table to enquire how our meal was icing on the cake. Brought out chocolates with congratulations piped on. Have been before but this was the best experience. Highly recommend it.
