Roy’s is our go to place. We always enjoy our experience there. My wife and I absolutely loved our anniversary dinner in “our favorite booth.” The food is superb and the service was outstanding. We go quite often. This was the third or fourth anniversary we have spent there and we are always thrilled with the outcome.
Husband's fish tasted old and fishy. My NY strip was grisly. Service was good as was the dessert, but I regretted not going to Alexanders for my husband's birthday. Over $500 for a sup par dinner left us disappointed.
Another great night out with my main squeeze.
Birthday celebration with the folks is always fun with the extended family at Roy's.
Food was delicious, service was great! Did not like the mai tai much but overall, it was great!
Service has decreased. A bowl of edamame was placed on our table without a greeting or even a smile. We were not offered water, and no one was around to ask until our main course was serve. The staff was busy setting up a large-group table instead. On previous visits, we were offered black napkins, but not this time. Our split salad (which was delicious) took a long time to arrive. My salmon was not hot when it was served, although it tasted great. The mahi mahi was served hot, and was also delicious. The lime tart dessert was also very good. In summary, other than the not-hot fish, the food was great (which is why we will return). However, the service needs to be improved. This isn't Chili's or IHOP. At the prices being charged, we do expect great service with our food.
We arrived very early before the normal dinner hour had started and the restaurant was quite empty. Service seemed a bit rushed as if we were being hustled out to make room for other diners. However, the food was interesting, well prepared and quite satisfactory. We used a $40 gift card which made the evening economical.
Usually I love this restaurant, but the food and service can sometimes be hit or miss. We were celebrating my dad’s 60th, on a Monday night, and there happened to be a private party in the back. Service was really bad because of the party - our reservation was at 7:30, and by 9 we hadn’t had our entrees. When they finally came out the fish was lukewarm. We had requested that the dessert start being made as we were eating our entrees so we didn’t have to wait any more in between courses, and that request was still ignored. I still love the food here, but the restaurant needs to do better with consistency of quality of service and food, and not ignore other customers just because there’s an event.
We had a birthday dinner for my niece. The servers were great. Fresh utensils were ready for the next dish and they cleared dishes as needed, never asking them to do so. Never had a dining experience where we didn't have to look ask for anything. Great job! Even saw the manager in the red shirt helping out, which is unusual, since they usually stand around and watch the servers go crazy.
We can here to celebrate a birthday on Mahalo Mondays. This deal is incredible and a huge treat for a family that wouldn't usually be able to spend the $$$ without the special pricing. Service, food and everything was incredible. I hope Mahalo Mondays is something that Roy's will consider keeping around.
It was a pleasant experience. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and were seated right away. Our reservation was for 5.30. We ordered from the menu from a waitress who was extremely friendly and she gave us some recommendations and we ordered. The meal was attractive to look at and our dinner was equally fantastic and was topped off with a
It appeared they miscalculated coordinating the meals cook preparation time
2 meals sent back as too cold
Mine also not warm Filet mignon & lobster but fortunately I am not too picky🙁
I had a wonderful time at Roy’s. The service was timely, the food was delectable, and the ambiance was perfect. I would recommend the filet mignon, the truffle mac and cheese, as well as the crab rice.
The food was exceptional as always. We really enjoyed the potstickers and Classic Four this time.
We had forgotten how incredible Roy’s actually is. It was PHENOMENAL.
Very nice time in Roys. We were satisfied a come back again. Great food, great service, nice place. I recommend it to friends.
Warmly greeted and staff was great. Our seating was perfect.
Always a pleasure dining at Roy's. The atmosphere is beautiful and the food is very tasty. The service was attentive as always too.
I brought a friend, thinking you would have several vegan options. There was only one item on the menu she could order. With more people becoming vegan, I would have thought Roy’s would have had more to choose from.
Great food, but a little expensive. Nice atmosphere. Valet parking available (at a cost).
We love the food at Roy’s however the dining room always feels like it’s just a little nicer than Denny’s and not by much. I’m not sure, I feel like I expect for the quality of food and the prices a better feel to the dining room but it always feels kind of lacking.
Never disappointed, food as always was excellent! Our server was filled with personality. We ordered the Monday pre fixe, was a lot of food but we ate every morsel.
Each time I go to Roy's, I keep forgetting and then quickly remembering why I swore to never come back. With each visit over the years, the food has become dull, bland, and smaller in portion size. I went last Sunday for lunch and ordered the shrimp bento box for $18.00. My wife ordered the salmon bento box also for $18. My bento box came with a bland mini side salad, miso soup, two cookies, and 3 small shrimp that were barely larger than bay shrimp. My wife received the same sides, as well as a Costco sized sample of their overcooked salmon. I am frankly astonished that Roy's Pasadena has not shuttered. Bleh!
Servers at Roy's need to be trained that patrons need to feel that they are important to the restaurant. over the past few years, my wife and I have had a few occasions, including this last visit, where are server disappears or seems preoccupied elsewhere. When my wife wanted to order a dessert, our server was talking with other servers and we needed to wave to get his attention. The food and atmosphere may be fantastic, but if the service is poor when I'm paying for an expensive meal, I don't want to return.
We are visitors to the US..each time we visit LA we must eat there. We live everything.
Ideal place for a birthday and celebrate life!
The food is always good, but it is pricey for my budget. For this reason I only order appetizers, and they satisfy my hunger. I miss Debby, the manager, who was always particularly attentive.
Not sure what took so long to serve our meal, but our server never came to our table we call the front desk by phone to have our server come our table. He just disappeared. This was one of the worst experience we ever had at a restaurant. Roy's is not the place it use to be, food is like the usual chain restaurants. So disappointing.
Great food, service and nice to dine at a restaurant that is not drowned in piped in noise.
It was great! Friendly attentive staff. The food was amazing. Definitely exceeded my expectations.
Great food really good service.
The food and service is always outstanding at this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and you always feel welcome and appreciated.
Some of the staff acted like they didn’t want to be working there. The manager was great though. Some of the food was good, however, the macadamia crusted fish was over cooked and the crust was soggy. My filet was not very tender and had a lot of fat and gristle.
We ordered 5 appetizers. Some cocktails which, as always, were amazing. The Hummingbird is so refreshing! We decided on the Filipino tasting menu, taking one of each of the 2 entrees. The fish dish was delightful. Flavorful and bright. The pork shank, obviously reheated via microwave, was cold for the most part, very middle-of-the-road at best. Extremely fatty and I had trouble cutting it even after asking for a steak knife. Dessert was the flan and bread pudding. Very good. Highly recommend the espresso martini for after dinner also.
Our fish entrees and salads were imaginative and tasty. Service was attentive and congenial. Wine prices need adjustment by 15% or so, especially for less exclusive bottles.
Always like Roy’s. Service is terrific. Food very good. Nice atmosphere. Good for conversation
Great food as always.
I had family visiting from Boston. My brother who is a foodie had the butterfish which he thought was excellent. My daughter split a wedge salad and shellfish sampler. The finished salad and eagerly awaiting our entree. When it arrived there was a long hair on the shrimp, it was promptly removed. The replacement was very good.
I commend the service.
We have been here many times before, and were very happy with meals despite it being expensive. On this occasion, the calamari was almost to tuff to eat. Extremely chewy. The rest of the food took forever to come out. The main meal was good, but our waitress didn't come to check on us at all. we ran out of drinks, and no one filled them. The waitress seemed to be catering to other customers in another room. Didn't seem to make sense to have her serve 2 different areas. She did finally come by and give us a free dessert and apologize. Therefore I do not fault her, but the management needs to better manage their servers, as there were others who did not appear to be that busy.
