Permanently moored on the River Thames alongside Victoria Embankment, just opposite the London Eye, the R.S.Hispaniola is a beautiful restaurant and bar. All day dining offers high-quality food in a relaxed, gastronomic haven, while you enjoy the fabulous views by day and night. In addition to our exciting a-la-carte menu, we are also pleased to our All Day Menu which offers quick, light meals for those pressed for time. We have also created menus for pre-theatre diners and a set menu for lunch offering seasonal options. The restaurant also boasts the finest wine cellar anywhere on the river and the adjacent bar provides delightfully elegant surroundings in which to enjoy a cocktail or aperitif before your meal - and, perhaps, another afterwards.

It is a real treat to dine on a comfortable boat on the River with some of the best views in London and endless interest. Changing evening skies and flotillas of boats, not "Waterloo Sunset", but close - just one bridge west (Hungerford), gorgeous! We enjoyed the welcome and the service - given the best riverside table. We had the three courses with free flowing prosecco deal which is the restaurant's mainstay. We had a few upgrades, extras and lots of glasses of wine - good value! The maitre d' explained that the restaurant had recently rejoined Open Table after some years with another booking company - hence the lack of reviews which I am happy to rectify.

Dined with my husband last weekend for the first time. The restaurant was busy but the staff was very attentive and recommended us some signature dishes from the new menu.
We had the foie gras and the cured salmon with cream cheese and caviar, followed by Lobster Thermidor and a fillet steak.
The food was superb and served on time. Everyone was kind and friendly. We finished the night with an Irish coffee on the deck to enjoy the magnificent view. Can't wait to go back!!

Love this restaurant, especially during Summer!! Excellent views sitting on the sun deck with the wonderful views of both sides of the Thames around you. Food is good and service is not too bad. Would recommend it.

Food very good but service hopeless. We were shown our table, went outside for a drink and when we returned the table had changed. Some of the places lacked cutlery, glasses etc.. During the meal they brought the wrong wine, and got 2 x main courses (so some of us had finished our mains before the correct ones arrived) and 1 x dessert totally wrong. No sincerity of apology or offer of 'compensation' - a pity as the food was good.

This is the second time we have dined at R.S. Hispaniola. We went with a group of friends and the service we received was very good. Everyone had a good time. What I would say is we were seated on the lower deck. This worked for us because it meant we were able to talk to each other and listen to the live music. But if you want something more lively then you would probably prefer to sit upstairs.

Booked for a late lunch so the retaurant was not busy at 2pm on a Wed afternoon. Although I asked for a window seat when I booked, this seemed to be have been forgotten so had to ask to sit at a vacant window table. For the most part there was just one waiter which seemed not enough for the number of tables occupied. Although we were not in a rush, we did have to wait a long time to be attended to at each course and we had to call for attention a couple of times. However, we went for the special menu of three courses for £28 ahead, plus wine. The food we ordered was well presented, cooked to prefectionn and totally enjoyable. A comfortable ambience; we were content and would go again.

Fancy eating your meal whilst gently feeling the lapping of the Thames? How about unrestricted views of London Eye and other famous landscapes? This then, is for you. Also a bit of a tourist trap but with this many attractions over and above the main reason to be here , it would be a shame not to? There is a great viewing deck for pre dinner drinks above the restaurant. The dining area was fairly quiet however the staff and service were excellent as we needed to walk across the Hungerford footbridge , it nestles below, to get to the National on time. Which we did. Good staff, average fayre but special location means I recommend on that basis.

Coming down to the boat in heels was a no no. I almost broke my neck, but once i was finally sat down and took it all in the restaurant was lovely. Staff were polite and friendly. Had the set menu deal which was a good main course and dessert. Starter choices were not great. Only real downer to the evening was that there was no heating so the place was really cold. We moved tables as a result of this but we still felt very cold. They had heaters dotted around the room which i felt did not help at all. Apart from that the restaurant was nice and very romantic. Such as shame the heating wasn't on but no one wants to be sat in a restaurant feeling cold.

You pay for the view not the food! Service was terrible, sat around for 40 minutes waiting for the bill despite being the only people left in the restaurant.

Only redeeming feature, the man on the piano!

Welcome was very good, and we had a nice view near the window looking out on the Thames.
Wine list was quite pricey & after ordering 2x £27 bottles of Cote du Rhone, they brought out different ones and didn't even say anything even though years were very different from menu.
Menu was basic (from the set menu) with a couple of choices for the 3 courses. Quality was quite poor, with the main dishes actually quite cold. Fries had way too much salt. Now a few things could really improve the place, especially the ambience and perhaps a hard look at the menu and training of staff. I would like to give a more positive review, as the staff worked hard. Sadly I won't be returning to find out if improvements are made.
Top marks for the pianist tho!

Had a good experience here, we had a table right by the window and had great views of the London Eye. Despite a sign on the door saying it was fully booked, there were plenty of empty tables. We had booked the toptable three courses and a glass of champagne deal which was good value and tasty food but the choice was limited. My husband and I had steak and ale pie and fish and chips, so not gourmet food but tasty.

Booked the Hispaniola for Valentines Day dinner, they were very busy, its a lovely river venue great views, however service was good & friendly, it was a set menu so can't comment on full menu choices but the meal was very pleasant, well served & presented. A lovely evening bit of motion from the river so be careful if that affects you, otherwise would recommend.

It's an overall good restaurant, like other reviewers, it's a nice place for talks, especially catch ups with out of town friends. Though the boat does rock a bit, so if you are sea sick, I wouldn't recommend you go.
Food wise, they were out of 3 kinds of fish on the menu. Disappointing.

We booked the fixed menu offer for a pre-theatre meal.

The venue is outstanding, very comfortable and great views across the river to the London Eye and towards Westminster.

We were the first table to arrive for the evening session. The service was attentive and friendly but the food came almost too quickly - they advised us to order all three courses at the same time and, when we asked them to hold the desert for 10 minutes, we were told that it was too late.

The steak and ale pie came with no pastry and the haddock batter was soggy and rather bland - neither main course was particularly hot and were served on cold plates.

Bit of a let down really and we are unlikely to return.

Our booking was not recorded, so took some time for us to be offered a table. The chicken dish ran out and was replaced by a somewhat unerwhelming fish and chips. Also would not recommend the steamed pudding - very stodgy.
otherwise the service was good, and it is an interesting venue.

R S Hispaniola is, potentially, a super venue sitting right on the Embankment close to Charing X and the underground station and the views are super, with constant traffic passing by, almost silently, on the Thames. The restaurant is comfortable and with a good ambience especially with the resident pianist (who arrived a little late on the evening of our visit).
What let the restaurant down was the food. The quality was fine but almost everything turned up cold - soup, main and dessert! We had no time to return anything so simply ate cold food.

It was a shame, as there was nothing wrong that caring staff could have prevented and, while the service was reasonable, the waiting staff obviously did not check that our meals were presentable.

Terrific location, the food was pretty good, one of our group had fish and it wasn't cooked through, they did offer us a glass of champagne each which partially made up for it. Would still go back.

First of their Xmas disco nights, probably a groovy place therefor - it rocks when the Thames taxi boat goes past. Me and mum had the 3 course and champagne thing for £23 and was okay, nothing special (tho I am no expert).

We were late, so thanks to the staff for being accommodating!

The ambience was delightful, with the oh so gentle movement of the boat and the early evening view of the lights across the river, enchanting.

The menu was excitingly different. We enjoyed the butternutsquash soup. The seabass and risotto were excellent, as was the lemon posset. Service was quiet and attentive. We did not sample the wine list for dietary reasons.

We would like to bring some of our Oxfordshire friends to dine there,

I was impressed by the panels of the Rhinebeck Panorama of London, but disappointed in that they were distributed around the vessel, and seriously in need of renewal as the colour had been bleached out! Unfortunately the staff were unaware of their significance, a pity where overseas visitors are concerned.

Ordered the Fish and Chips but the batter was soggy and had no Tartar sauce to offer us. We were the only ones in the restaurant but as the staff congregated by the bar at the other end of the boat it was difficult to get their attention when we needed them as they weren't in view. Lovely warm walnut rolls though! Shame you couldnt eat outside either.

It was all pretty haphazard. The boat was badly understaffed with a new lad having to look after the whole dining room. The computer went down too plunging everything into more chaos. A few punters walked out, but our dinners were surprisingly good (I'd worried that it would be a tourist trap), but with the pianist and great views it made for a pleasant evening. Slightly irritated that they ran out of my choice of wine ( off a short list) then charged me a fair bit more for an alternative, but overall it's not at all bad).

My friend and I went to Hispaniola near embankment for dinner. Service was very good and the voucher for 50% off food made it a reasonable price.

The food was ok. Sadly it was just ok. Very stock heavy and felt a little more home made and "kept warm" than I would have liked.

The place itself is very quirky and the view is quite wonderful (not for the sea sick though as the boat does rock slightly).

Had dinner on The Hispaniola with my wife before a night out in Covent Garden. Thought a meal on a ship on the Thames should be an enjoyable experience and we certainly were not disappointed. The food was lovely. I particularly enjoyed the Welsh rack of lamb. The service was first class. The staff were extremely polite and attentive. Add the magnificent views and romanticism generated by the gentle rocking of the boat and the light playing of the pianist really made for a wonderful experience.

We had lunch at the Hispaniola, Victoria Embankment, London on Saturday with our 3 year old.On the whole it was a pleasant experience. The food was good, although a little over salty for our tastes, and the service was attentive too. The view was very lovely and we enjoyed our lunch. The decor appears a lot more glamorous on the web images than in reality and it could be made a bit smarter. It was over priced without a lunch time special offer so we wouldn't eat here again at the price we paid.

Dated decor and needs updating. The furniture lets it down. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and with the right promotion it could be a major venue. The food was excellent, but it is of concern that a service charge is automatically added and the staff only receive 35%. I had it deducted and paid a cash tip, at least the guys who earned it will get the money!
