We have celebrated our wedding anniversary at Rugby Grill this year and in many years past
as the ambience is elegant and the food excellent. My son and I had the sea bass which was
the best I've had, aside from one that I make at home. My wife had the "Seafood Americaine"
which she relished. Gratefully, Rugby Grill offers a quiet setting to enjoy a meal. The menu is
pricier than in years past.
Service was outstanding. The food and wine were spectacular.
Everything was perfect. Waited for 5 minutes for a table by the fireplace instead of colder hall- very thoughtful!, water ASAP. Jessica was our waitress - good recommendations, great service. Highly recommend Rugby Grill
Great food, fine service, the wine choice was excellent but a little pricy.
It's my go to stop for business breakfasts. It's also great for business lunch. The chicken salad sandwich is excellent! Highly recommended.
Fire alarm went off for a very long time.. The staff didn't apologize. It was very disturbing and disappointing. In a place like the rugby I think they could have handled the situation better..
It was great!
Terrible service. Waiter brought me the wrong salad after we discussed what the salad was in detail. It took 20 minutes - no exaggeration- to bring the new salad. No apology - manager never came over. I took my friend there for her birthday, never again.
Food was really good. Service was very slow Server acted like we were an afterthought
Awesome as usual.
Outstanding service and ambiance. Menue selection is excellent. Menu selection and pricing have recently changed. The most disappointing is what the Rugby Grille has been known for since established, the Whole Dover Sole fish. It's now almost 1/2 the size, and to make it look as big as before, the plate was changed to the standard round. Certainly not worth the $62. What's also interesting is the servers now push to order more items. Dinner for 2 not including drinks was around $200, now expect $250 plus. Sunday brunch is still as great as before.
Wow! Such a Very special weekend away Celebrating my husbands 41st Birthday at the Townsend Hotel first time visit to both Townsend Hotel & the Rugby Grill. We ate just about every meal we could the 3 days we were present! we just can’t say enough about the restaurants Staff. But one who stood out goes by the name Jeffery! He is the most professional, sweetest caring and most gracious server we’ve ever experienced. His smile alone lit up our world we had unexpectedly just lost our 13yr old furbaby the night before and Having the pleasure of having him along side our meals Was a huge part of My favorite memories with my husband. Both morning breakfast visits were our favorite times in restaurant. I highly recommend the Avocado toast, Pork Sausage links and of course the Beignet Trio
Gracious and friendly staff; wonderful food!
Delicious as always. Tried their new eggplant veggie dish. Really enjoyed it!
The corn beef hash I ordered was just so so. My friends both ordered burgers and were underwhelmed
Always delivers a fantastic experience.
What a disappointment. I booked here for a business lunch, but the usually unobtrusive service became next-to-no service. Told to let our server know when we were ready to order, we couldn't find him five minutes later. The wait for meals was exceptionally long once we did order, and the food was poor. An eggplant dish was rather slimy, with globs of melted, tasteless cheese and undercooked grains. The smoked salmon sandwich was lacking in flavor and very oily. No one came back after the dishes were served to check on is. Water for hot tea was never refreshed. Getting the check was an effort, and getting someone to pick it up and run the credit card took so long my guest had to leave while I waited to cash out. Different service staff came for each visit to the table. Poorly done all the way around. I usually tip well, but couldn't being myself to reward this experience.
It was special because I rarely have the opportunity to have lunch with my daughter who travels frequently for her job so I thought I would take her to the best. I was disappointed. We both had salads that were very attractive but not very tasty. We both had to ask for more salad dressing. Her onion soup was just do so. The cheese wasn’t melted. The waiter was fair but didn’t check on us much at all. We had to find him to ask for the dressings. I truly wanted to have a lovely lunch and rave about it to friends. Wish I could.
Try the duck wings and "Americain", a French dish served in a copper pot with a crust topping filled with seafood! Delicious! Love the new salad selections and also the halibut was light and very good. Service was excellent as always at Rugby
Always a sure bet at the Rugby Grill. Keep up the great work all!
Amazing service and good!
Delicious food and great service.
Brunch fro my father's birthday, I eat here a lot so a caveat, I am already a "fan" but there are not many suburban locations to have a quiet, relaxed sophisticated brunch. People casually dressed, jeans and such and hotel guests. The food can be simple like eggs and omelets or fancier. It is not cheap, but it also not out of line for the experience. Three people without alcohol was $73.00 including tip. It's a good place to go if you want to avoid the tumult of most bring places and have a good meal and feel like an adult.
Great food, great place. Will go back soon... Highly recommend
Great meal! Always the best service and food. It’s amazing who you will see there?
Amazing atmosphere and service. Food was really good but do not expect a lighter menu. Very expensive for what you get but I guess it's all in the experience.
We had a nice Birthday lunch for my best friend who had never eaten at The Rugby Grille and we were very disappointed that the Hydro Bibb Salad was no longer on the menu...... I had the Cobb and it was terrible and dry. She had the eggplant and it was extremely disappointing in flavor. :(
The Rugby Grill is the best business breakfast spot in town!
The Rugby Grill is one of those excellent established restaurants that never fails to please. The food is impeccably prepared and presented. The service is exemplary. Restaurants come and go but this establishment is timeless. We will always continue to come here.
They have an amazing new menu!!
Extremely overpriced for what you get. Entrees at $72 are absurd. Quality was ok . Presentation mediocre.
At the start of our evening we had to wait 30 minutes for a glass of champaign which was listed on the By The Glass menu, but no one bothered to have a chilled bottle available. This kind of wait puts you in a poor mood for the entire evening, The food (dover sole) was very good, the general service was very good. But the poor start and the resulting 2 hrs and 40 minutes for dinner negatively overshadowed everything.
Enjoyed my experience in food and service
Great dining experience. Top notch service. This was my second time. It was a business dinner. My business partner was so impressed by the food and ambience he decided to visit it again and again.
Food was good, service was mediocre. This is a luxury hotel and yet they don’t have wheelchair accessible bathrooms. And if you’re a senior in a scooter, forget about even getting into the bathroom. There are a lot of other restaurants in the area where the food is just as good.
Excellent service and food always and you always know it will be this way.
I am so embarrassed! My parents and out of town guests arrived for lunch and were told that the reservation had been cancelled!!!! They ended up being seated and had a lovely lunch, but I felt terrible because I made the reservation for them.
Impeccable service,
Excellent food
Great wine list
Sat outside on a warm evening ambiance was lovely
As usual, it was great! Great atmosphere - great food - and great service.
Best anniversary dinner yet - they really made us a priority!
