Ruth's Chris Steak House was founded in New Orleans, Louisiana by Ruth Fertel, a single mother of two who wanted a better life for herself and her two sons. She purchased "Chris" steakhouse in New Orleans which had been operated for the 38 years prior. She changed the name to Ruth's Chris when a fire forced her to move from the original location. Today, there are 146 Ruth’s Chris Steak House restaurants across the globe.

Horrible service. Wait staff didn’t care about taking care of us. Had to wait for everything and she was ignoring us most of the time.
The food was delicious as always but this is the worst service I ever had and I have been a regular customer and eating at Ruth’s Chris restaurants talk I’ve true country for over 15 years.

Food was great. Can’t say enough good things about the ahi tuna appetizer. One of my all time favorites at any restaurant. Steak was flavorful and cooked the way I ordered it. Good selection of wines by the glass.

We had a terrible experience here when a group of 8 of us went out for dinner Sunday night. In addition to them being out of many things, one woman didn't get her food until all of us were actually done, another woman only got 1/2 of hers, another didn't get their vegetable, and another one was delivered a well done steak when she ordered medium rare. To make matters worse, no one from management ever came over to apologize. The two people who didn't receive their food until the rest of us were done had their dinner comped...but I was horrified that no one ever came over to apologize that it happened in the first place or even ask us how our dinner was. There wasn't even anyone by the hostess stand to say goodnight to us when we left. It was like the whole restaurant was tired after Valentine's Day and couldn't be bothered to serve us. They should have been closed then!
Had reservation at 6:30PM. Chose to have drink in bar. NO Kahlua! Messed up wife drink and had to remake! No lime in gin and tonic! Made drinks and sat on server bar for probably ten minutes and several waitresses walked by drinks! Finally got up and got my own drinks! Seated in great area and waiter David very nice. Here is the worst part! My filet eleven ounce full of gristle and really not very hot! Creamed spinach great as usual! Mashed potatoes not hot at all and better next day at home!! Felt as if being rushed from the moment we sat down! Have been an advocate of Ruth's Chris for over forty years and unless wife puts a gun to my head, will not make my way to downtown Ruth's Chris again!! Almost $300 tab and filet mignon sliders next day at home pretty good!
This was again an outstanding dining experience. The service was perfect. Not a constant “how are you doing” but never neglected. The steaks were delicious. And the sweet potato dish was delicious. This is my go to place for an excellent steak.
Enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere. Our server was awesome. drinks were good.
Had the surf and turf, it was good. The lobster mac was really good. We sat at the bar even though we made reservations. We sat over there because the hostess didn’t want to seat us in a 4 seated table, she wanted us to be seated in a two seated table. I felt that sucked because she was seating us in the very back of the restaurant and no one was back there literally no one was! So what did it matter if I wanted to be seated in a bigger table, in all honesty I knew what we would ordering and I knew we would need the room. She suggested the bar which was ok but a little too loud for me, the music was great while it was being played but I had to keep talking louder to my husband which took more energy I felt I was yelling. I just felt the hostess could have made me happier by seating me where I wanted too especially since I had made reservations weeks ago.
This review could apply to almost any high end steakhouse today. Service A, drinks A, deserts A, sides A, steak entrees C-. The steaks have gotten almost wafer thin. I used to go to a great steakhouse for thick cut, aged premium beef cooked at a high temp only achieved in a professional broiler. Now I go to my local butcher and buy the cut I want and used to get at the high end steakhouse. So Ruth's Chris was Ok, and any shortcoming not the fault of the chef or staff, just the focus on the bottom line. I'd pay $15-20 more, ie $75+ for a 20oz steak to get a real cut at one of these places again.
Ronnie did a great job as server and the manager was pleasant and accommodating. Really everything we tried was outstanding from the drinks to appetizers, soups, salad, steaks sides and desert!
Worst Ruth Chris I ever been to. I ordered the salmon and it was prepared over uncooked veggies after being told it came on a bed of spinach. The side of broccoli came out burnt as well. I would not recommend this Ruth Chris location to anyone.

Husband birthday. It was our first time attending and our experience was very disappointing after one of our friends found a Finger Nail in his salad.
This was our second time visiting the restaurant and we were't fully satisfied... service was a lot better than the first time, appetizers and sides were really good but the steaks were not cooked the way we asked. Same thing happened on our first visit. It seems that they don't know how to cook steaks.
Ate dinner here on a Friday evening. Free valet parking was quick and easy. It was not busy and noise level was very low. Server was outstanding and very friendly and pleasant. Food was prepared perfectly and wine was delicious. Was not rushed at all and dinner was very enjoyable. Would highly recommend for Dallas steakhouse for a relaxing stress free dining experience.

We had Steak that was overcooked and and the service was spotty. The second steak they brought out took awhile to bring and it was still on the dry side. Drinks here were also sub par. For a high end joint I would expect cocktails to be more up to par.

Y’all. The white chocolate bread pudding. You must get or you’re severely missing out. Also the 50 acre ranch California red wine is an AMAZING value (I liked it better than Prisoner!). They sell it only at Ruth’s Chris!

So after being received by a mad and unfriendly hostess and wait (with no reason ) some time for our table , we finally sat . We order a red wine, the waiter couldn't open it, broke the cork, had to take it to someone else to open it, return with a decanter and left everything in the table. We had to ask her to pour it on the decanter. She pour it and said .. enjoy ! and she left. she never pour it into our glasses, ask if it was ok ..nothing . We had to pour the wine our selfs !!! Then we had to ask her to take our order . etc.etc... she apologies saying... she was tired. This restaurant needs to hire a good manager that at least trained there staff with basics.
Went for NYE and it was early around 7:00 pm. It was not busy but they were out of multiple items on the menu including the seafood tower, scallops a NYE specialty menu item and a certain dessert. It was almost comical trying to order when the waitress continuously told us they were “out of the menu item”. Couldn’t believe they were out of so many things at 7:00 pm on NYE! Food was tasty but just not impressed with the night
Had to settle for a 5:45 pm dinner reservation for New Years Eve. The restaurant wasn’t busy but servers took longer than other Ruth’s Chris dining experience to refill cocktails and wines. One filet came out well done when it should have been medium rare. They quickly re-fired a new filet.
It was my mom’s 65th bday
All I can say is this place was so disappointing. I made a reservation for Christmas night for me and my friends. My friends got there before I did and was already seated. When I got there which was 10 minutes before my reservation I was told there no reservation for me. Then I looked up and saw my friends seated in the middle of the restaurant. The restaurant was not super busy but there were tables occupied. We had two waitresses which was odd because our party was not very big. With extra staff you would think the service would be great. We order drinks from the first waitress. The drinks did not come until we requested them again. One of my friend’s didn’t even get his drink. The second waitress takes our order and once we ask for the special with lobster tails she tells us that the restaurant was out of them. I was very disappointed because I have never heard of a restaurant running out of food. There is a couple of fast food restaurants I can think of but not an upscale restaurant. Especially a restaurant where most of the plates start at $25.00 and above. The waitress was very sarcastic about the restaurant not having lobster tails. If you never been to Ruth’s Chris they are known for their lobster mac & cheese so it is crazy that they had no more lobster tails. We get over it and order something different. I ordered a filet mignon Oscar style, lobster bisque, mashed potatoes and the bread pudding for dessert. Don’t judge me I was hungry.
At least 20 minutes went by and no one came back to our table. The two waitresses had two other tables from what I saw. They made sure those tables had drinks and attention. The starter comes out first. The lobster bisque had no flavor and was very watery. Finally when we got our meals we were told again the kitchen was out of something. They were out of bread pudding and they were out of potatoes au gratin. Instead of potatoes au gratin they brought out sweet potato casserole. It is a good gesture

We visited on Christmas Day and it was really unfortunate. The service was off (took forever to get our steak) and when the food arrived it was all over cooked. We sent it back and they brought out the same steaks again!! Plus their Christmas special was Surf and Turf and the were out of lobster at 5:30 pm. The soup was cold and the fries were cold and soggy. Then my pet peeve, we order the house wine and the waitress charged us for the most expensive wine by the glass on the menu. I think we’ll pass on this particular Ruth’s Chris again.
Wonderful meal, service and experience
Visited the Cedar Springs location for the first time for Christmas dinner. Everything was perfect! We were seated immediately with our 3:15pm reservation. All of the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was impeccable! I couldn’t ask for anything more. We have found a new Christmad day tradition!

Not up to it’s usual high standard. The lobster bisque was very salty. The sirloin was cold but the plate was hot. Service was slow and we were given the “lots of large parties“ excuse. We just expect better from Ruth’s Chris Steak House

Enjoyed Christmas Eve at Ruth’s Chris. The food was delicious, although there were a few mishaps that could have been prevented. My daughter ordered steak and mashed potatoes. Her potatoes were cold upon arrival to the table. I ordered steak and shrimp. My shrimp was not hot. The steaks were cooked spot on and the sides were wonderful. Our salads were fresh and delicious. The waiter did forget to bring my wine, but that was a minor hiccup. The restaurant, to my surprise, was virtually empty. I’m hoping it picked up later in the evening as we dined fairly early. We will be back.
Ugh! Awful service! Mediocre food. Never again.
