Excellent food- we had the porterhouse with two different sauce, macaroni and cheese, the greens, sourdough bread, some wine and cocktails plus a crème brûlée and shortbread. Kyrios was an amazing server with so much personality. We give this a 12 out of 10!

The Merchant Steakhouse is an absolute gem. From the moment you arrive, the great location sets the perfect tone for a fantastic dining experience, making it incredibly accessible and vibrant. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed. It strikes the ideal balance between a sophisticated steakhouse and a charming, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger. As for the menu, the food is nothing short of fabulous. Every cut of meat is cooked to absolute perfection, rich in flavour, complemented by stunning side dishes and a stellar wine list. My wife, who does not eat steak, went with the burger, which she described as ‘the best she’s ever tasted’. What truly elevates the experience, however, is the team. The staff are both charming and exceptionally knowledgeable, offering flawless recommendations and attentive service without ever feeling intrusive. If you are looking for an exceptional meal in a beautiful setting, The Merchant Steakhouse is a must-visit. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

About the restaurant
It’s The Chip but on another level (just one flight of stairs). An experimental kitchen brings a menu made for sharing with an array of small and big plates - all seasonally produced and a little different from your normal Scottish fare. The Upstairs Brasserie offers a casual dining experience for any time of day. Daily specials let our chef’s get creative and often just satisfy the staff’s cravings. The food is, locally and ethically sourced. Find a seat on the mezzanine and overlook the courtyard in full swing or get cosy in our Brasserie amongst the colourful and slightly abstract paintings.

About the restaurant
It’s simple really, our calling card is sustainable Scottish seafood.

Our name comes from the Gaelic word for fish. It’s a wee bit tricky to pronounce, but it’s no bother if guests don’t get it quite right. With delicious fresh produce served by our very own, you'll feel the energy in the way we go about things – our warm welcome, enthusiasm for what we do, and, of course, a splash of Glaswegian banter.

Serving sustainable Scottish seafood is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why £1 on every bill goes to The Firth Forth Lobster Hatchery, who hatch, rear and release lobsters to ensure stocks remain plentiful for future generations. Sea more on Instagram: @lobsterhatchery
