Saint Pauls House
The venue encompasses a restaurant, bar and boutique hotel. The design and concept suggests a nod to the casual yet contemporary buzz of Shoreditch. With opulent finishes throughout, a vibrant food and drink offer and a carefully selected team, Saint Pauls House will be the site that re-ignites Birmingham's love for the Jewellery Quarter.
There’s no doubt that one of it's biggest assets is it's location. Set on Saint Paul's Square in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter, you'll be minutes from Birmingham's business district, creative quarter, shopping districts and a wealth of great places to visit.
Went with 2 friends for bottomless brunch. Staff were super friendly, drinks were flowing and the roast was excellent!
Booked a table online. Turned up and there’s a sign saying “take a menu and find a table”. Zero table service.
Atmosphere was good, live music etc.
Drinks overpriced £22 for 2 g&t.
Didn’t hang around for food due to lack of service.
lovely brunch nothing was too much trouble , would have liked a bit more choice on the cocktails.
Really good atmosphere on entering St Pauls House. Drinks are reasonably priced for a city centre bar. We were shown to our table immediately we checked in with the restaraunt. Each course we ordered (3!) arrived exactly as ordered and piping hot. Waiter and waitress were extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Food was lovely. Would definitely recommend St Pauls for a night out and for dining. If however, you want to go somewhere to talk.... this bar is definitely not for you! Music quite loud (not a problem for me) resulting everyone talking loudly! Good night had by all!
First visit for all four of us. Really enjoyed our time there. Bottomless brunch was well worth it. Food really nice and service very good.
Excellent food, great service and good value for money. Will definitely return.
Starter and main was excellent pudding was VERY disappointing,I had salted caramel and chocolate torte which came with ice cream and a coulis and all I could taste was the coulis which was very sharp and destroyed the torte so much I could not tell it was chocolate.I told the manager about my disappointment but all she did was basically laugh which was very very rude.
Great food, helpful and friendly staff, would definitely return.
Extremely good value for such a high end venue. Continental breakfast was standard, but pastries were all stale which was upsetting. Ordered breakfast from menu was really good. Very quiet on a Sunday morning.
Food is amazing maybe abit more food choice, staff are attentive the noise was too loud as there were a few groups diners overall the food is worth a visit thank you
Really lovely place, good value for money. There was a baby shower and we were seated in front of it so there was quite a lot of noise but we said it was a great place to have something like that.
Service was great, couldn’t fault it! We were there for bottomless brunch and our glasses were always filled! My only criticism is my poached eggs weren’t runny and slightly overdone but the rest of the food was lovely
We booked a lunch slot and discovered they had changed the menu to almost nothing. A very basic choice of perhaps a dozen dishes - basically a snack menu, Ok if you want a sandwich and chips otherwise forget it. And this just before Xmas, I can only assume the chef left. This would explain the lack of Xmas parties and the emptiness of the place.
We did not order and went down the road to Andersons and had a nice steak.
I will not be going back to St Pauls.
Food average & some waitresses were very curt. Manager was polite and helpful. One dish sent incorrectly , therefore one guest are alone.
a little too noisy for me, could hear each other with the noise. won't eat there again at the weekend.
One of my favourite bars but not eaten here before. Food was of a good quality. Nice atmosphere. Would recommend to friends
Booked for my birthday bottomless brunch. Great help from the restaurant on organising a large group booking (13) ahead of the event and were accommodating for gluten-free guests. Value for money in comparison to other venues nearby and food was lovely. Unfortunately some of the staff on the day seemed almost miserable - it was mentioned by a few people in my party and we're not normally ones to comment. As it was bottomless brunch we, of course, wanted top ups to our drinks but were made to feel it was a chore or were putting the staff out. That aside, still a lovely experience, great venue and decor inside and food was yummy!
Amazing bottomless brunch, manager and staff made us feel so welcome and the food was absolutely amazing
Much like a few earlier reviewers it seems service levels dip when they have another function on and you are the poor soul in the empty restaurant. The person in charge was obviously more concerned about the large function party and kept walking down towards our table but never coming close and just ignoring us. Obviously looking into the closed function area to check they were all right.
So we had a starter and main, both of which were fine, but no desert or coffee or cognac even though we would have preferred to have them.
The 10% "optional" service charge wasn't mentioned, just added to the bill without my knowledge.
Overall poor experience apart from the food which was Ok.
We’ve been to st Pauls for a few drinks before and always enjoyed the experience, so we were looking forward to eating there for the first time celebrating my friends birthday, the menus we found limited and when the food arrived we all found it to be dry tasteless and poor quality. We all felt the same and were very disappointed, we didn’t complain as we didn’t want to embarrass our friend
Surprisingly excellent , the food was beautiful it was fresh and hot and good portion sizes. Really good atmosphere and live music....a really enjoyable night
This place has style and drinks/food menu to go with it.
Stayed here for my boyfriend's birthday and it couldn't have been more perfect! Rooms are lovely, the bar is very atmospheric with brilliant live music and the staff were friendly and really helpful.
Great place to eat. The food is of an excellent quality. Great staff and service.
Excellent service, delicious food and great atmosphere! Highly recommended.
Took a friend who was visiting from Australia to celebrate her 40th birthday. She loved the look of the establishment, the vibe and most importantly the food. All 3 of us that ate could not have had better quality starters and mains. Staff were attentive and friendly. My friend loved her visit and said this was the perfect place to celebrate her birthday.
Thank you for proving my choice to be a good one.
The food was truly fantastic, we had the chicken tagliatelle & the lamb and couldn’t get over the quality at the price we paid. The only minor let down was the service. We came back in the morning as we stayed in a hotel nearby and had breakfast. Again, the food was fantastic but the service was a bit off. I had to keep asking for things you’d normally expect to get like salt & pepper, butter for the toast, sauces etc. and initially got the wrong type of tea. However, this was a minor thing and the only vaguely negative thing about our experience!
Lovely stay n this pretty boutique hotel. It was our second visit and we would hope to return. It was our anniversary so the free mini bar prosecco was a nice treat. Room was very comfy and staff were friendly and pleasant. Both evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Would definitely recommend.
The staff were not very good. There were horrible drunk men shouting at us. The eggs were not cooked well.
Mediocre food. Nice decor - very on trend. Noisy so not good if you want to talk. Ate in dining area but had to endure battle of TV noise, loud background music, live pianist who was also at times battling these elements. The people in this bar are confident and vibrant enough without the need to create a ‘busy live environment’ have a little more confidence to simply rely on great customers, service and food - the rest will sort itself out!!
I really wanted to write a cracking review as there was a nice atmosphere and the live band were good. Unfortunately my friend had to send her starter back as the Pancetta was just a piece of fat and she couldn't eat her main as it was far too salty. My own meal was fine although the mussels were very tiny so perhaps shouldn't have been on the menu if out of season.
To be fair, the staff handled our feedback well so I would be prepared to give this place a second chance and hope that we were just unlucky on this occasion.
The service was disappointingly poor. We waited 40 mins for someone to take our order and each time had to ask for someone to take our food order for dinner and desert. We had to chase the desert order and just any sort of attention.
The place is lovely has a nice ambience and when the food arrived it was very nice.
When I asked what the problem was I was told short staffed and busy with other bookings.
The food was absolutely beautiful, will definitely return.
Food ok. Service could have been better. Music far too loud in restaurant . We had a party of eight and we could not hear each other speak spoilt the night we could not hear anything anyone was saying!! we are not old and our party was mixed from 21 to 50years 6 were 21-35 years. Even the youngsters asked if the music could be turned down but it wasn’t . People had travelled from Yorkshire , very disappointed .Considering the location we expected better.
Really disappointed as place looks so great! Terrace was open, nice ambience. Difficult to chat as music was more suited to a bar not a restaurant.
Food was poor for the price. Burger was burnt and tough, steak was expensive for below average. Nothing special at all, and you can get much better steaks at the same price at other Birmingham restaurants.
Starter sharing platter was nice, just wish we had ordered 2 and not bothered with the mains.
Commented to waitress about the burger and to be fair, it was taken off the bill as it was barely touched.
I imagine it might be a nice place to go for a few drinks but I certainly wouldn’t go again for food.
used to be regulars. Last 3 visits we have complained about poor food. Shan't be revisiting. Very disappointed.
I was really looking forward to meeting up with friends in a nice venue. However, whilst I can't fault the venue itself I found the service pretty poor. It all started off ok until the waitress brought out 2 meals and told the third person that her lamb dish would take a little longer. Obviously I questioned why all dishes were not brought out together at which point she began to challenge me instead of apologising. Our food was cold and we had to send it back. The music was far too loud and we couldn't hear each other speak so ended up shouting at each other. Would I go back? Only if they offered us a free meal as a goodwill gesture for the poor waitress service.
Good food and friendly helpful staff. Live music was rather too loud for chatting to our friends which spoilt it a little.
Food was ok we had burgers but the burger was too dry, not much flavour, they also got our order wrong and one of our friends had to wait 5-7 minutes after our other food came out before theirs did
Burger was tasty, chips were uninspiring and a small portion, all served on a scruffy wooden board.Restaurant decor was interesting, reflecting the industrial past of the area.Would appeal to the younger set .
