Saint Pauls House
The venue encompasses a restaurant, bar and boutique hotel. The design and concept suggests a nod to the casual yet contemporary buzz of Shoreditch. With opulent finishes throughout, a vibrant food and drink offer and a carefully selected team, Saint Pauls House will be the site that re-ignites Birmingham's love for the Jewellery Quarter.
There’s no doubt that one of it's biggest assets is it's location. Set on Saint Paul's Square in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter, you'll be minutes from Birmingham's business district, creative quarter, shopping districts and a wealth of great places to visit.
I came with a friend to St Paul’s House for the bottomless brunch on Sun 1/9. The whole experience was fantastic from excellent service, friendly and knowledgeable staff to fantastic value for money. The food was excellent - I had ribs, fish and chips & passion fruit tart and the portions were just right. The ambience was amazing with a pianist playing for most of the afternoon. We didn’t want to leave the place and ended up staying from 12-6pm. Would definitely recommend this place and I will be returning very soon.
Firstly confusion when I called to amend my booking reference which menu we could order from. Breakfast and Brunch is the same online but the staff member was adamant Brunch could only be bottomless!
Service was appalling, drinks orders confused and 8 breakfasts took nearly 1 hour to prepare, in a nearly empty restaurant. All poached eggs were over and had to return one breakfast as toast was charcoal black! Ordered juices, all were undrinkable, barman commented only 1st time he had made them!
Ignored by waiting staff not asked if we wanted refills etc, just a really rubbish experience and ruined my nieces bday brunch!
We do love the food here normally... but we the fish burger was pretty below their normal standard. Well done (black) dry roll... coleslaw was not the best either...
We just thought it was no where near worth £13.50... for essentially a fish finger sandwich that was well done and dry (2 of us ordered the same)!
A little disappointed as their sunday roasts are nice!
Could be a nice off.... maybe saturday evenings are not the best time!
Stunning setting, great quality good and excellence service.
Overall good day! very enjoyable food! No one to greet us at the door has to find someone to tell
them we booked. Went for bottomless brunch however service on the drinks could have been a bit better as had to ask for more drinks. The waiter was great! however my main criticism was that when we paid the bill the change wasn’t brought back over. It would have been a tip regardless i just think it would be nice to give customers a chance to give the tip rather than assuming it is a tip.
This was our first visit to St Paul's House. We were disappointed to discover that the restaurant was not a separate room but part of an open plan arrangement. This arrangement meant that the loud music impinged on our ability to talk quietly. That said, the service was good and the food very good indeed. A pleasant evening that we'd have enjoyed more had it been a little quieter.
Have been for a drink several times. Also a private party on the terrace. Always said must go for food. So we decided to go Sunday afternoon. Had booked a table for 4. Arrived and sat outside then ended up eating on the terrace as it was so nice outside. All the staff especially Gavin were very helpful. We all ate different meals and we all really enjoyed our food. Definitely will go back.
Good food but very noisy. This isnt a place for a night out for two. There is no separation between the bar and seated dinner area unfortunately.
Lovely food. I had Duck I asked for ut to be cooked a little longer as I dont like it pink. It was cooked to perfection. My Hubby had the Gammon it looked delicious. We shared a platter of Cheese & Biscuits. We had a really nice bottle of wine.
Excellent service and excellent building, food and drink very good
Modern restaurant with a comfy atmosphere. The chicken wings are brilliant
Went with 2 friends for bottomless brunch. Staff were super friendly, drinks were flowing and the roast was excellent!
Booked a table online. Turned up and there’s a sign saying “take a menu and find a table”. Zero table service.
Atmosphere was good, live music etc.
Drinks overpriced £22 for 2 g&t.
Didn’t hang around for food due to lack of service.
lovely brunch nothing was too much trouble , would have liked a bit more choice on the cocktails.
Really good atmosphere on entering St Pauls House. Drinks are reasonably priced for a city centre bar. We were shown to our table immediately we checked in with the restaraunt. Each course we ordered (3!) arrived exactly as ordered and piping hot. Waiter and waitress were extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Food was lovely. Would definitely recommend St Pauls for a night out and for dining. If however, you want to go somewhere to talk.... this bar is definitely not for you! Music quite loud (not a problem for me) resulting everyone talking loudly! Good night had by all!
First visit for all four of us. Really enjoyed our time there. Bottomless brunch was well worth it. Food really nice and service very good.
Excellent food, great service and good value for money. Will definitely return.
Starter and main was excellent pudding was VERY disappointing,I had salted caramel and chocolate torte which came with ice cream and a coulis and all I could taste was the coulis which was very sharp and destroyed the torte so much I could not tell it was chocolate.I told the manager about my disappointment but all she did was basically laugh which was very very rude.
Great food, helpful and friendly staff, would definitely return.
Extremely good value for such a high end venue. Continental breakfast was standard, but pastries were all stale which was upsetting. Ordered breakfast from menu was really good. Very quiet on a Sunday morning.
Food is amazing maybe abit more food choice, staff are attentive the noise was too loud as there were a few groups diners overall the food is worth a visit thank you
Really lovely place, good value for money. There was a baby shower and we were seated in front of it so there was quite a lot of noise but we said it was a great place to have something like that.
Service was great, couldn’t fault it! We were there for bottomless brunch and our glasses were always filled! My only criticism is my poached eggs weren’t runny and slightly overdone but the rest of the food was lovely
We booked a lunch slot and discovered they had changed the menu to almost nothing. A very basic choice of perhaps a dozen dishes - basically a snack menu, Ok if you want a sandwich and chips otherwise forget it. And this just before Xmas, I can only assume the chef left. This would explain the lack of Xmas parties and the emptiness of the place.
We did not order and went down the road to Andersons and had a nice steak.
I will not be going back to St Pauls.
Food average & some waitresses were very curt. Manager was polite and helpful. One dish sent incorrectly , therefore one guest are alone.
a little too noisy for me, could hear each other with the noise. won't eat there again at the weekend.
One of my favourite bars but not eaten here before. Food was of a good quality. Nice atmosphere. Would recommend to friends
Booked for my birthday bottomless brunch. Great help from the restaurant on organising a large group booking (13) ahead of the event and were accommodating for gluten-free guests. Value for money in comparison to other venues nearby and food was lovely. Unfortunately some of the staff on the day seemed almost miserable - it was mentioned by a few people in my party and we're not normally ones to comment. As it was bottomless brunch we, of course, wanted top ups to our drinks but were made to feel it was a chore or were putting the staff out. That aside, still a lovely experience, great venue and decor inside and food was yummy!
Amazing bottomless brunch, manager and staff made us feel so welcome and the food was absolutely amazing
Much like a few earlier reviewers it seems service levels dip when they have another function on and you are the poor soul in the empty restaurant. The person in charge was obviously more concerned about the large function party and kept walking down towards our table but never coming close and just ignoring us. Obviously looking into the closed function area to check they were all right.
So we had a starter and main, both of which were fine, but no desert or coffee or cognac even though we would have preferred to have them.
The 10% "optional" service charge wasn't mentioned, just added to the bill without my knowledge.
Overall poor experience apart from the food which was Ok.
We’ve been to st Pauls for a few drinks before and always enjoyed the experience, so we were looking forward to eating there for the first time celebrating my friends birthday, the menus we found limited and when the food arrived we all found it to be dry tasteless and poor quality. We all felt the same and were very disappointed, we didn’t complain as we didn’t want to embarrass our friend
Surprisingly excellent , the food was beautiful it was fresh and hot and good portion sizes. Really good atmosphere and live music....a really enjoyable night
This place has style and drinks/food menu to go with it.
Stayed here for my boyfriend's birthday and it couldn't have been more perfect! Rooms are lovely, the bar is very atmospheric with brilliant live music and the staff were friendly and really helpful.
Great place to eat. The food is of an excellent quality. Great staff and service.
Excellent service, delicious food and great atmosphere! Highly recommended.
Took a friend who was visiting from Australia to celebrate her 40th birthday. She loved the look of the establishment, the vibe and most importantly the food. All 3 of us that ate could not have had better quality starters and mains. Staff were attentive and friendly. My friend loved her visit and said this was the perfect place to celebrate her birthday.
Thank you for proving my choice to be a good one.
The food was truly fantastic, we had the chicken tagliatelle & the lamb and couldn’t get over the quality at the price we paid. The only minor let down was the service. We came back in the morning as we stayed in a hotel nearby and had breakfast. Again, the food was fantastic but the service was a bit off. I had to keep asking for things you’d normally expect to get like salt & pepper, butter for the toast, sauces etc. and initially got the wrong type of tea. However, this was a minor thing and the only vaguely negative thing about our experience!
Lovely stay n this pretty boutique hotel. It was our second visit and we would hope to return. It was our anniversary so the free mini bar prosecco was a nice treat. Room was very comfy and staff were friendly and pleasant. Both evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Would definitely recommend.
The staff were not very good. There were horrible drunk men shouting at us. The eggs were not cooked well.
