Sale e Pepe
Generations have come to rely on this traditional Italian trattoria just two minutes' walk from Harvey Nichols and Harrods in Knightsbridge. Guests love the consistently good cooking, using fresh ingredients, the great atmosphere and the familiar faces of the friendly Italian staff who haven’t changed much in all the years Sale e Pepe has been open. Manager for over 35 years, Toni knows everyone and everyone knows Toni. Sale e Pepe is famous for its fresh dover sole, calves liver and veal chop. The pasta dishes are highly recommended too with excellent specials changing daily. The cuisine will remind you of your favourite meals in Italy.
As usual great ambience with good food and service
Our favourite Italian in London! The food is always on point and they readily adapt to any dietary needs. The wait staff are so much fun and contribute to an atmosphere that we return to again again.
Good food as always. Can recomend this restaurant.
It was bad
Have been here a few times and tonight was the worst service I have experienced. They stuck us in a corner and pretty much ignored us from then. The small touches were non existent. No pepper, no cheese, and no bread even though they charged for it.
Won’t go out of my way to go again. Sorry Sale E Pepe you’re off my favourites list!
Had been going to this restaurant a lot when I lived in London in the mid 1990s. Ambience and food still great. The manager pushed too hard to get people in and out and turn tables. Would have been a better experience if they woukdn t have pushed the servers etc do hard. Great pre shows restaurant when you are not there to relax and enjoy but are on schedule to make a show.
Sale e Pepe remains a favourite for many reasons - the atmosphere is lovely, the staff are warm & friendly & the food is, on the whole, delicious & excellent value for money. One of our party didn't enjoy her main course at all (the kidneys, which are usually her favourite), as she said the flavour wasn't great & the quantity of rice was too much. I loved everything I ate - maybe because I ate from the daily specials list, which I would recommend here.
Our favorite London restaurant. Veal picatta was outstanding as was the entire meal and the service was excellent.
Love the authentic Italian cuisine. The waiters and everyone are fun and friendly. It’s a truly amazing place which I will return to every time I am in London.
Great spot. Well prepared classic dishes with nicely updated twists. The Tuna carpaccio was outstanding nd the veal milanese was particularly well prepared. Service was very attentive and "just right" with respect to timing. Will definitely return.
I lived down the street from this lovely restaurant for 5 years and had never tried it until I moved away. I is a nice local restaurant with lots of small tables for regular diners. Service is excellent and food is generally good with larger than average portions and sauces.
We enjoyed a meal with friends and had some lovely starters and pasta mains. Portions were very generous with the octopus carpaccio being particularly good that evening. The mains were equally large and flavourful and enjoyable.
This is a small restaurant so book ahead to ensure you get a table. There are alot of regulars who know the staff by name and are treated warmly - makes you also a bit jealous when you are a newbie. The noise level gets loud when it is full - makes it a bit hard to hear your tablemates if you are in the middle of it all.
This is one of those local gems which provides good Italian food. It is not necessarily a place to travel for - but if you are in the Knightsbridge or Sloane Square area and want a table cloth proper meal with friendly service and NOT overrun with tourists, this should certainly do the trick.
Lovely birthday celebrations with family.
I love this restaurant, one of the best Italians restaurant in London for me.
We are intermittent visitors to Sale e Pepe but always enjoy the food and overall experience. It's noisy! It's Italian! Ask for a table at the bottom end of the restaurant, a little quieter there.
The food and service were excellent. The only negative was the noise level, exacerbated, I think, by two large (8 est.)parties. But for the noise level, would have been perfect from start to finish.
We were a party of 4. None of us were pleased with the food. It was tasteless. We all expected much better from the restaurant of that quality and for that price.
Just outstanding as always
What an amazing restaurant! We come here every year when we’re in town and this restaurant never disappoints. Friendly and prompt staff, excellent food and great wine recommendations. The gnocchi was some of the lightest I’ve ever tasted and the sausage and pepper pasta was delicious as well. Highly recommend this picturesque restaurant!
Delicious authentic food and great service. Always there whenever I visit London.
Just a class above most comparable restaurants in a similar league . Service is cordial , efficient without being over bearing . Food never disappoints .Quite simply a standard bearer among its peers .
Mediocre Italian restaurant in a good location. Be warned. There is a £2 per person cover charge.
Always a great place to go whilst out and about in Knightsbridge. Been coming here for more or less 25 years and the quality has always been high in terms of food and service. The staff are always friendly, helpful and cheerful.
Just wonderful service, food and atmosphere!
Family evening with Grandson
Great vibe with an energetic, loud, endearing host. Food was very good and timely served. Love the feel of the place. Not too small not too large. Intimate.
First time I went to this restaurant was 33 years ago.
Now 33 years later still the same and very good restaurant.
Fabulous Italian food and warm atmosphere.
Good food and service!
Ich habe lange gewartet bis ich platziert wurde
A very busy restaurant that got quite noisy by the end of the meal. But definitely worth going to - features simple pasta dishes done right (family had the penne arribiata, gnocchi and ravioli) - everything was good and would have it again.
this place h ad the best fettucine i have ever had! the small buzzy ambience made it a great date place and we had a fabulous time!
Was a great experience for the price. Excellent food and service. Would definitely go back again when I’m back in London.
Great food, great service!
Celebrating birthdays was amazing
Very crowded. Very loud. Good food.
We got charged £8 for the bread (£2 per piece of bread (!)) and it took ages to bring the bill. Other than that the food was really tasty and the atmosphere was nice
Extremely friendly staff. Fantastic food. Excellent service. Great ambiance.
Resido en Mèxico , pero cada vez que visito Londres , voy a Sale e Pepe
Our favorite higher end restaurant in London. Very welcoming, great food and ambience.
