Sat out back on the deck.....not much ambiance but the food was as good as it always is.
Always exceptional food and drinks; we also are in awe of the staff who are more like part of our family.
Food was great. It was a Monday and there was only one person doing the bar, waiting, greeter, etc. Was a bit too much for one person. But he tried really hard.
As always, a delicious meal. The restaurant was crowded quickly after a symphony performance, but the staff handled the demand effectively. Sammy's is a neighborhood favorite, and we're always happy when we make it our choice for that day.
Excellent Italian food - a family favorite . Everyone gets something different each time and finds a new favorite.
Always great! The service, food and ambiance make this a winner in our books!
Great place to go before a show, maybe 2 hours is not enough.
Love this restaurant. We had an outstanding meal.
We love Sammy’s. Great with my kids. Amazing food and serving team!
Outstanding food, excellent service. Try the duck ravioli, it is different and delicious!
Great food, great ambiance, great service. Doesn't get much better!
This review remains no different than my past Sammy’s reviews - EXCELLENT! Sammy’s is like a home away from home - always friendly and welcoming and always delicious. From larger parties to dining with a friend, I always love Sammy’s - a true favorite!
I would recommend Sammy’s with the understanding that there is a huge wait even with reservations! And then it took FOREVER to get our food!
With that being said, the food was delicious and we were offered complimentary drinks. Truthfully, I prefer no aggravation with my dinner.
superb classic Italian food, well prepared and presented.
A wonderful menu and experienced wait staff. We make it a point to go here before the Theatre as they are in walking distance. We understand these are peak times so don't let comments on ambiance throw you - it is packed but hopping. We love going there!
Always perfect and always amazing food and service. Never disappointed and forever looking forward to a night at Sammy’s.
Ran out tiramisu at 6:00 PM on Sunday! Disappointing. Waiter was nice. However, I had a chip plate and the glasses were spotted.
From the moment of being seated at a table that was in a dark and cold area to paying the bill, it was an evening to forget. We chose Sammy's based on positive reviews but the experience was nothing but disappointing. It started with the server asking if we'd been helped. When we said no, his response was, "guess I'll be your server then." Ordered an appetizer and after 40 minutes of which it still hadn't arrived, when he finally returned to our table, he gave no response as to why we were still waiting for the bruschetta. About 10 mins later and it finally arrived. No sooner had it arrived and so did the entrees. That's just unacceptable. I've taken two bites of the appetizer and now the entrees are brought to the table. As for the entrees, the duck ravioli was mediocre, a bit dry. But the gnocchi was another story. Two bites in and it just wasn't edible. Far too much sage & melted butter, but the sage was so overpowering I couldn't eat it. I would've told the server but he didn't show back up until 20 minutes later. At that point, I was just done. Then the check fiasco. I gave him cash & a credit card. We told him the amount to be put on the card & how much of the cash to use. He brings back the same cash & put less on the card than we asked. I wasn't in charge of the tip but frankly it would have been even less than the 5% I believe was left. To sum it up, inedible entree, mediocre entree, good appetizer, terrible service, highly disappointing experience and made even worse because we drove 1 hour just to have dinner in Bmore.
Renee was amazing. Great food beautiful atmosphere
I continue to enjoy Sammy's Trattoria restaurant. It's very accommodating with a special menu for the BSO goers. The food was freshly cooked and hot when served. Four entrees and all of liked our selections.
Great food, the sauces are amazing. Great service
Fantastic food, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. It was very resonably priced!
Sammy’s did not live up to the hype. The servers were clearly overwhelmed and did not provide good service. The dinner was alright - burrata was our favorite - at least the food is inexpensive compared to similar restaurants. We waited 10 minutes for the valet who never came ... thankfully found street parking 2 blocks away.
Our meal was excellent! The halibut special really was spectacular. If you have never eaten at Sammy’s before, of if it has been a while since you were there, you should give it a try.
Our server was amazing! Had the best evening here to celebrate a birthday. Great food and a great vibe. We'll be back :)
We Love Sammy’s ......Always a great time with family and friends. Ben was so attentive and really made our experience awesome !
Can’t wait to go back
We had the worst service of our lives. It was pre theater but we allowed an hour and half for our meal. The waitress was told the moment we arrived that we had an 8:00 symphony and we’d like to order right away, twenty minutes later she took the order. Our food came at 7:45 with no apologies. We had to box our meals and sit through the evening hungry
Love going back to Sammy's...one of my favorites. The food is always excellent and Val & Renee make it so much fun!
Highly recommend Sammy's. Love the atmosphere and the food is always delicious. Love the Filet Vivi. We always get a salad to take home for the next day. Love the homemade desserts from Renee. Fabulous all around!!
We've eaten at Sammy's many times, but this was our first less-than-relaxing experience. Both the host and our server told us we needed to order "right away" since we were going to a show... but we weren't seated until almost 20 minutes after our reservation time. We, and many other reservation holders, had to wait in a line so long it spilled out onto the sidewalk, making everyone late even if they'd arrived on time.
Our burrata appetizer arrived atop arugula that had been absolutely drenched in balsamic vinegar. Yuck. We had to send it back as I cannot abide anything sweet that isn't a dessert, ESPECIALLY balsamic vinegar, which overpowers everything else on the plate. The BV wasn't mentioned on the menu or I'd have asked that it be left off in the first place. The replacement dish was fabulous - subtle, creamy cheese, peppery arugula, and very good quality olive oil. Our pasta entrees were also excellent, but I could only eat half of mine as the upstairs dining room was so hot that I got stomach cramps during the meal. Even my husband noticed the heat and he's not especially sensitive to temperatures. As there was no one around to ask that the heat be turned down - we weren't even asked how our entrees were once we'd started on them - we didn't have that option. If the guests feel the heat to such an extent, the staff must be miserable, so we really felt bad for them. As it turned out, we had plenty of time for dessert (is that why we were told to rush when ordering?) which we didn't want, although I did order an espresso.
We'll be back at some point, but not before a show.
Always the best! a real favorite every time we go to a show.
Good food, good service
As always great
We always enjoy our evenings at Sammy's. The food is excellent and the service is excellent too. The staff always make us feel very welcome. Overall we enjoyed our evening at Sammy's. Well Done.
Never had a bad meal or a bad experience here. It's become our "go to" place. We love it.
