The coconut margarita is outstanding , the menu always offers something interesting and delicious I hope the new owners keep a little bit of Sams , if only the margarita! They also do a mean expresso martini
It has proved an excellent venue over many years and we are very sad that it is closing. Hopefully, the new management will retain the same format and ethos of the current owner. If not, it will prove a great loss to the neighbourhood.
We knew that Sam's was closing down soon and wanted to make one last visit. We tend to do cocktails there rather than food but it was a pleasant surprise to eat there for a change
As usual a good lunch - Sams will be sorely missed when it closes later this month
Sam's is about to close for a 10th anniversary refurbishment in October. Best to wait until after this is completed to make a judgement.
This was my second visit to this restaurant and was looking forward to trying a dish that was popular amongst my friends at our last visit. Starter was good and the mains did look great. However, the main dishes were on a bland side so I was left disappointed. Perhaps it was one off so I think it's still worth a try. If not for food, it's worth a visit for the half price cocktails during happy hour.
Our waiter recognized us from his previous place of work and this started off our meal on a lovely note. He was friendly with a great sense of humor and very knowledgeable about the menu. We were both happy with our choices, I had the swordfish. But be warned, though very delicious both meals were very salty, make sure to taste it before you season.
I will definitely be eating there again.
Oh and great cocktails too
Food was fine, ambience was fine...nothing special but good for lunch or brunch...
Thank you another really good meal 2 steaks I swordfish and a Goan fish curry all excellent
well done, this place never disappoints, impresses friends and extended family when introduced
to the place for the first time ,very quiet lunchtime service, so not busy or hurried and its nice to eat
relaxed and not hassled like some of the new trendy London eateries
Friendly attentive staff, nice buzz and great food......we will try it for brunch soon
Met my client for a business lunch and was not disappointed. The food was served promptly, was nicely presented and best of all, was very tasty.
spacious and generous tables.Excellent early bird menu
Booked for my gf's birthday meal (mentioned it when booking but appeared to have slipped by; as did the OT nature of the booking which wasn't fed back, hence OT e-mailed me asking about a 'no-show' # hectoring!)
Food was very good - red onion, feta and walnut hummus outstanding. My rare breed pork chop and her swordfish both cooked perfectly. Desserts were very good indeed.
£89 incl. service (2 pints, 1 glass of wine and a bottle of sparkling water) seems about par for the course.
Yet to have a disappointing meal here after 10 years, please keep it up.
Food wasa little disappointing. My lamb was cooked well and tasty but I've had better. The peas were undercooked and cold.
The cocktails were amazing
Overall the value for money was not there I felt.
Plus the waitress spilt drinks on our bags and dropped a sauce on the floor but apart from that she was great.
Had heard great review about Sam's Brasserie and even had recommendations of what to have there. But, when we went to the restaurant none of the recommendations were on the menu. When we asked about them the chef was asked, but they were unavailable. Sorely disappointed.
The restaurant is really cosy and staff are friendly and helpful. They were super accommodating when 2 of our guests turned up with their children (who we hadn't expected) and swiftly and without demur organised chairs and colouring books etc, really professional and nice. The food is of a good standard with typical brasserie choices in generous portions. The cocktails are lovely and they make you feel at home. The standard hasn't slipped over the years, keep up the good work Sam's.
Sam's is firm favourite of ours and we've dined there many times but this was our first time in for brunch. The eggs three ways was superb and so were the staff, very welcoming and polite as per usual.
Am local to the area and enjoy taking people along when they visit us. It's a great catch-all and everyone agrees the quality and the taste is amazing!
Love the Americana aspect that has been developing recently. I just wish they could serve oysters all year round.
Another good dinner at Sams - steak cut has changed but still super juicy, pared with a lovely red, still my fave Chiswick restaurant.
I have been to Sam's on several occasions and have always had very good food with decent portion size, lovely cocktails. The atmosphere had always been lively and good service. My last visit was a disappointment, I was sandwiched in between two tables that were in very close proximity, so much so that I could hear everyone's private conversations, the waiter had trouble at some points taking orders as he had to curve his body round my dining companion in order to take the order from the person sitting on the table next to us. The initial service was a bit slow as we had waited about 4 minutes before having to attract the waiters attention for our drinks order. The food however was served quickly and it was rather delicious. My swordfish was excellent and my friends burger was equally as good. We both opted for a toffee apple crumble which was a decent portions size and divine. I will definitely go again as I love the bar, cocktails and food and I just hoping this was a one off with the service.
The waiting staff were really attentive, bringing us water and extra bowls before we need to ask. Plus the food tasted great. Can't fault the place!
Good fun vibe for a Friday night, excellent choices on the menu and friendly staff made this a really good evening out. Its fantastic to have such a place as Sam's as a local option.
Tasty burgers, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff! Great for a dinner with friends.
We often go for Sunday brunch with the children and we've never been disappointed. The beef in the steak sandwich this time was perhaps not as good as usual but it was still delicious. Roasted pork was great too. Chips done perfectly well and it's great that the ones they serve to children are not as salty as those for adults. Lots of attention to the details in the food.
This time we had to wait a long time for puddings.
We've eaten here twice in recent months. Our experience just before Christmas was, in general, exemplary. The food was brilliant and the wines well-chosen and well-priced. More recently, however, we felt as though we were in a different restaurant (and not for the better). Our starters included house-cured salmon containing gristle which I wouldn't feed to my cat. Our mains - "brick-cooked chicken with rosti" - tasted overwhelmingly of cooking oil and reminded us of a GCSE cooking assignment gone wrong. Service was functional. This level of inconsistency isn't OK especially given the prices charged here. Chiswick isn't exactly bursting with good-value, good-quality restaurants, but there must be better places than this.
We had brunch on a Saturday morning, the service was so so, lots of staff rushing around and sometimes hard to attract their attention.
Theres a good choice of food, and it's promptly served, huge portions
The downside of Sams is the noise, it's a big space, few soft furnishings, so as the place starts to fill up with shrieking babies and tots, it got very noisy and we left
We were told that they tried to put all the kids at one end of the restaurant, but this wasn't apparent
Once again Sam's Brassiere & Bar came out tops. We visit at least once a year and this occasion was to celebrate a birthday. Our party included a child of 3 years.
We were warmly greeted and our table included a child seat and coloured crayons and picture paper to colour with.
A very attentive waitress looked after us and ensured our G Daughter was well looked after.
The food and atmosphere was great & we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Very happy to recommend.
Have lived in West London for years and heard many positive reviews about this restaurant. I liked it even better than I thought I would. Particularly loved how spacious it felt inside which is rare nowadays. Good cocktail list, good menu and the diet menu was specifically a hit with some members of my group who ordered from it.
My boyfriend and I chose this restaurant for a romantic meal, it was a very nice atmosphere and ambience. The waitress we had was lovely, polite and quick with our orders. We were not harrassed or made to feel uncomfortable for sitting and chatting even after our deserts.
The bill was ok for a meal for 2 in Chiswick. We made payment with no problems and was acknowledged when we left with a smile and an invite to come back which was pleasant.
Very good food as usual. Prices may be creeping up a little.
I was a little disappointed with our last meal at Sam's - the portions seemed a lot smaller than usual and as a result value for money wasn't really there. The ambience was great as usual, friendly staff and buzzing atmosphere. But with so much other choice in Chiswick I'm not sure we'll rush back...
We had booked a table for Friday evening but ended up staying at our table in the bar and ordering from the bar menu which was very good. Good buzzy atmosphere, great cocktails and good simple food. The main restaurant has a rather smarter menu but we were very happy where we were.
Everything was great from the service to the wine and food - as usual. Sam's always delivers.
Only gripe was that the chef refused to make roast potatoes! My friend (who is a site inspector for events and restaurants) did not want the garlic and rosemary potatoes on offer and asked if they could just be roasted and without garlic. The kitchen apparently refused to do so - bearing in mind this was a Sunday. We looked back at the kitchen - the chefs didn't seem so busy that they couldn't just stick the potatoes in the oven for a few minutes and leave out the garlic.
Having been meaning to try Sam's for a while we popped in early on Saturday evening. However we told there where no tables as they where fully booked. So we went to the bar and decided to check on the open table app. Surprisingly we found there was a table booking available in 10 mins time, so we booked and walked back to the restaraunt. After this service was very attentive. We ordered the sourdough bread as a start that came with what can be described as dust as this is how it tasted. The dust was swiftly exchanged for good old balsamic. The squid, cod and ribs tha followed where eat swiftly due to their yummyness.
If they carry on like the second part of our meal I will be returning regularly
The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable with a good buzz about the place. The staff were welcoming from the beginning to the end of our evening. The starter of squid with wasabi mayonnaise was particularly tasty, the clam and bacon chowder was average. Both main courses of steak and sea bream were well cooked and delicious however there was a lot of salad with the steak which just didn't seem to work but that is being a bit fussy, I loved the lemon parfait with salted caramel popcorn for dessert. Good coffee, great wine, I would definitely go back.
Hi always liked Sam's Brasserie and have not been for a while. The room is still welcoming, food is delicious and staff friendly. We were there with friends with kids and the staff was excellent and accommodating.
Loved the starters ambience and food. Will recommend and go back again
A mid Xmas/New Year meal with family. Restaurant was not too busy as a sunday evening but had a cosy, friendly atmosphere. Started with a round of cocktails and I can thorughly recommend the Lemon-Vanilla martini. The food was both very good quality and value with both steak and fish being enjoyed by diners. The pan fried Atlantic Cod was very nice. The service was attotentive but not overbearing - just right.
Overall a very enjoyable evening.
We are as a family group in 23 rd December. We didn't have Chrustmas fare but the food was still excellent and service friendly and efficient.
