La cena fue rica pero éramos la única mesa de lugar, no había nada de ambiente y al final sentí que nos corrieron.
Horrible experience. Seated by staff after glaring at us upon arrival. After being seated, staff member gave us some water and then never checked on us again. Table next to us received another round of drinks and ordered desert. We had a 1730 reservation and a show to follow at 1945. We left the restaurant at 1800 after only receiving a glass of water. Restaurant was about 1/4th full and this experience on a Wednesday evening is unacceptable. Eclectic place with horrible service, can not review the food as we never had our order taken.
Dear Mr Faraoni Thank you for choosing to dine at Sarastro. Regarding your review their are points that need clarity. Your reservation was at 5.30 pm. From our CCTV recordings you arrived at 5.45 pm and where seated at 5.46 pm and served a jug of water at 5.50 pm were you was not ready to place your orders and you left the restaurant at 5.56 pm. I would recomend you should plan your dining hours according to your theater show rather than blaming the establishments for your own delay.
We went for pre theatre dinner and had a lovely time the food and service were north great. Really nice wine and the ingredients were top quality. Would definitely visit again.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and chose Sarastro as it was located close to the theatre. Our experience there couldn’t have been improved upon. The service was very attentive, the atmosphere was amazing and the food was delicious. We were also presented with a special anniversary treat. Thank you Sarastro, we will return!
Quirky restaurant with very good food and close to many of the theatres. Perfect for a pre-theatre meal!
I ave always had a fantastic experience here and so brought a friend. The waiter kindly found us a private booth despite it being very busy but from then on the service was terrible, none of the usual smiles, we had to chase our food and we didn't get the water we ordered. I had been told my food was not spicy at all but it was.
I will go again but maybe not at a busy time.
Very ho hum. Definitely did not appreciate we were there. Had been recommended by a friend. Apart from the eclectic bathroom - nothing else was worthy of our $$
The restaurant it s worth a visit as it s so beautiful and unique. The live entertainment was nice also.
Althought the food it s poor quality and poorly made. Overpriced food for the quality of it.... Which haven't left us with a pleasent impression regarding the place overall
Very original decor, friendly staff and tasty food.
Would definitely recommend.
What a great place! We had been before some years ago and was delighted to return and was not disappointed. Great welcome, good humour and friendly staff made the whole experience fun. We had brought friends with us and they loved it too. Live entertainment was excellent and very interactive! We had a thoroughly enjoyable time as did most people there but even those not interacting would have been entertained. Food and wine was really good and complimented the environment perfectly. Such an unusual venue and quite a wow factor. Would definitely return.
If you are looking for something different as a dining experience in London, then look no further than Sarastro in Drury Lane.
It’s quirky decor, built from reclaimed theatre furniture, is a delight and with so much to see and take in it makes for a great dining experience. The restaurant specialises in pre theatre dining but is open until late.
The food is excellent and although it is predominately a Turkish restaurant there is a good a-la-carte menu available.
I have dined there a number of times and still find something I haven’t seen before so give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
Excellent service from start to finish.
I introduced some collegues
All of us enjoyed the god and the good service
Sarastro scores highly on pure quirkiness, but the food is good too. It was the first visit for three of our group of four. Service was good humoured, if a little sparse when we were there (a cold and wet Tuesday evening, so it wasn't terribly busy) and it was tricky to catch anyone's eye. That said, we had a balcony table, so we did appreciate that the staff weren't going to be running up and down the stairs just to check if we were OK.
It's a fun place to eat and no doubt each of us will return with different groups of people, to introduce them to this experience.
Staff was rude and very unaccommodating to our requests. Being vegetarian, the options were quite limited.
The setting is very unusual. The service was on the ball, not too quick and not too slow. Food was well cooked and prepared.
I had booked the restaurant for a pre theatre dinner as we were attending a show in the Westend. The restaurant is well located on Drury lane and the decor and design is theatrical yet intimate with the booths. The food was wonderful and the service was exemplary. We had a most enjoyable meal however all members of the party felt the decor in both the gents and ladies toilets was overtly graphic and unnecessary. In my option the restaurant does not need this 'attraction' and should be confident to hold their food, hospitality and service as the reason to dine there.
After 30yrs it was just as I remembered. Colourful unique and very attentive. Definitely an adults only eatery as its not just about the food! A lovely selection and generous served with style.
I just dont remember the staff being so tall but this added to the Operatic humour of the occassion. Great value pre musical theatre meal. Hope to return soon for a sunday experience.
The restuarant was perfect. It suited being near the Drury Lane theatre. Food was delicious and good value. Staff was attentive.
The service was slow and diabolical. They added on a service charge which they certainly did not deserve !
Attractive outside and an interesting and quirky interior. A little quiet at lunchtime but the 'boxes' are great giving a feeling of theatre to the dining experience , the staff are really helpful and friendly and the food was great
Guest was stunned by the theatrical nature of the restaurant as it definitely has the WOW factor. Good choice on the menu and service was good. A nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden
Love going to Sarastro for the amazing surroundings and the food is usually good too. Ours was a pre matinée lunch so good service and not too noisy. Expect at night it gets very lively buzzy.
Came to London for my friends 70th birthday she was thrilled and very excited about Sarastro's , then went to see 42nd Street, fabulous day thank you.
Great experience at Sarastro!
It's a beautifully decorated, theatre-themed place where bits of Mediterranean feels get together. Very interesting.
Out with two friends, Sarastro was ideal. They loved the quirkiness of the place and we have already re-booked so that we can bring partners along too. The food was well presented and tasty. We opted to share starters and then have a main each from the lunch menu, which was good value. Our waitress was excellent and made some great suggestions; she clearly knows the menu very well. Monday lunchtime seems to be a quiet time but we didn't go for atmosphere. That being said, Sarastro has its own unique atmosphere with or without other diners present. I am already looking forward to my next visit.
Good food in very unusual surroundings , excellent service and makes for a very memorable visit
A great experience with enjoyable live music on a Sunday evening
Second visit and not disappointed. It's an experience not just a meal
Lovely place lots to take in, good quality all around!!!
The service was excellent. The food good. When they found out it was my daughter's 20th b'day, they whipped up a b'day platter of macarons w/b'day candle. The toilets cld be improved. Wld go back!
Took my two children here just for the experience of seeing the amazing decor. Don't regret it as it is what it is but service was very slow at first and not all servers are able to answer questions about the food. Food is average I guess and as expected it's v expensive for what it is but certainly worth one visit if for nothing else but the novelty factor.
Very pleased with our dining at Sarastro , the food and wine ,soft drink combined with proffessional musicans was just terrific , i,ll recomend this restaurant to everyone.
Quirky little place. Must be fun on a weekend when they have singers.
Food nice Turkish. Pleasant staff.
The most spectacular interior and atmosphere that we've ever seen!
Have been before but on this occasion we were somewhat disappointed. It was a Sunday evening and not many people eating. The String Quartet and Opera singers were fine and the Theatre decor is of course good. However the food was not up to standard. One meal had to be replaced because it was just lukewarm and the dish of vegetables distinctly cold. By the time the veg was replaced the meal was virtually over. Yes we did give our comments to Manager. But at over a £100 with wine for 2 main courses this was not what one would expect. Must do better.
Very fun atmosphere, with opera singers wandering the dining room. Bright & rich decor. We had a great time for an anniversary dinner with family.
Great place if you are after something different from the normal "boring" restaurant. different themes Thursday - Sunday & great entertainment
food very good.
would recommend for something out of the ordinary!!!
Was pleased to have a booking but as it was lunchtime the restaurant was empty and therefore lacked the ambience I'd hope for. However I would come back again in the evening with friends as it would be perfect for a fun night out. Ideal for theatre trip. The decoration is quirky and exciting. Food was ok some dishes more appealing than others.
We really enjoy our food and the authenticity of that place :) thank you:)
