The restaurant was empty and the staff was just chatting between them. We are left unserved at the table for 15 minutes before they even have us the wine list. When I asked why nobody was serving our table they answered very rude and with attitude. Poor place
We loved lobster pasta, but this time wasn’t good . However, dessert is still very good.
Overpriced for what it was.
Not much more to say.
great restaurant and the food was delightful, i would like to see a bit more of it but everything was scrumptious thanks.
Great service with extremely attentive staff
Not great for the price we paid. Food average. Waiters not quite attentive given the restaurant was not full. We gave it an overall mostly because of the rude service offered by the receptionist who so happened helped to take our card for payment and returned our coats.
We went there for our anniversary and it was very good. Actually, it looks way better in real life when the lights are dim and you can feel the atmosphere. Overall, very nice experience.
Disappointing main courses for three of the four diners, and wine list VERY expensive. But quiet enough and excellent starters and desserts, plus a charming lady attending to our orders.
Fantastic pastas. Chef was happy to accommodate a request to switch from penne to spaghetti.
My wife and I were really excited to come back to this restaurant and to introduce it to my parents that they were coming directly by train from Brussels. Unfortunately their train has been delayed and I ve called directly the restaurant around 11h30 to tell them that we will be there around 1.30 instead of 12.30. No worries... The lady who welcomed us was really cold and told us that no one called them and make us feeling really uncomfortable.
Thanks goodness the food was excellent and the chefs de rangs, head waiters and sommeliers were really professionals and friendly. We will try to forget this cold welcome and will certainly come back soon.
Went on the evening standard january offer, fantastic just fantastic. Got home and sunday morning cooked from francescos cookbook italian fried chicken and that got devoured too. Probably the best italian dining experience in london, loved it
The waiter that served us was very jolly and happy and helpful which made the dinner very pleasant and my guests enjoyed it. The fish and tagatali pasta was great including the tiramisu and panna cotta but the portion of my guest green pasta was quite small for mains which was abit disappointing.
We then had either the supervisor or Asst manager in black jacket and a beard serving us initially and the bill but his attitude was terribly rude and abrupt which made the night quite unpleasant in some ways.
I would review his performance if I was management. Otherwise all was good
Fantastic food !
Excellent as ever! Great value lunches with excellent space around tables
Nous étions venus pour les pâtes aux truffes, à notre arrivée à table le serveur nous indique qu’il y en a plus. Extrêmement déçus !
C’est bon mais sans plus. Les prix sont exagérés.
Lovely laid back environment with excellent food to boot!
It cost us £285 for 3 people to eat here and the food was really quite disappointing considering the cost. The service was good as well as the ambiance, my £30 lobster main course mmmmm
Where was the lobster? 3 or 4 very small pieces of something and a whole plate of pasta! My other 2 guests were also hugely disappointed with the food, one main course @ £24 was returned and not reordered, that was our own choice. Such a disappointing meal
From the moment we arrived in this restaurant, we felt directly that we were at the right place. Really nice atmosphere, beautiful dining room, warm welcome . The menu let you know that the level will be there without being pretentious. The service was professional and warm. Nice wine list and nice selection of wine by the glass. We will definitely come back soon!
Great service and food was very good. Pre-theatre dining.
My main course arrived cold. Disappointed.
An excellent well-balanced set price lunch menu.
One of us had the vegetable and barley soup, the other the tagliolini arrabiata. Then a really delicious and unusual baked cod presented in the skillet— attractive to look at and super-hot! A panna cotta With autumn fruits and a pistacchio cake— both enticing and the cake particularly out of the ordinary...
Very wide ranging unusual list of wines by the glass
Spacious and elegant room.
We have been going to Sartoria for a long time and although the quality of the food has improved the ambience seems to have suffered - possibly due to change of staff. The joy of eating in a restaurant such as this includes the interaction with staff and if it isn't there the whole experience suffers. We will be back but hope we're made to feel more welcome on the next visit.
The host could have been slightly friendlier!
A great upmarket environment, without feeling too over the top. The wait staff were great and attentive. I thoroughly enjoyed the food, though there were a few element I felt could have been a bit stronger in terms of flavour. . That being said, for the price I was not disappointed at all. I'm sure I will be back and I had a wonderful evening. Fantastic restaurant
Very positive experience. Food was very good, and everything, from greeting to drinks was amazing. Table service was one of the best we’ve ever received. Felt welcomed by all the staff. We will come back in the future.
Special night,lovely service amazing food
We had crab salad, octopus and winter salad to share that we loved,we tried also the Orecchia di Elefante (Veal Milanese ) that was very tender and rich of flavor
Bottle of Barbaresco and we left very happy
Great place eat classic but also modern menu.
Such a great evening, me and my partner we have a wonderful experience, the service was excellent and the food was stunning, the selection of wine is improved a lot from the last time I came and now is easy to reach out everything you want
So, I waited too long for coming back, is always a bargain and then the place is really cool
This is the only restaurant on Sevilla row, I thought it would be as exceptional as the bespoke shops for clothes and shoes in the vicinity, but that was not the case.
It is an average place, traditional menu, I had a decent meal, spaghetti al carbonara amongst other things, I asked the supplement of black truffle - and mentioned I would have it only if it was Tuber Melanosporum kind, as there are several types and only the Périgord one is as delicious as it smells... but I knew immediately that I was fooled when the server started shaving the fungus: it had very little smell and of course zero taste, I complained and was told it was a truffle from Italy. To apologize the maître d offered a sorbet. Anyway, if you are hungry and need to stay in the row, you may lunch here, otherwise, there are much better places nearby. They serve the magnificent Turriga by the glass, that may be by itself a reason to stop by.
Terrible. All the way through. From greeting on arrival to table service to food to ambience.
I’d often had lunch at Sartoria where the service and food have been excellence. So I booked dinner for my partner and two of our grandchildren. What a disappointment. The service from the start was rudimentary. Nobody obvious was in charge, no maitre’d. We were eventually able to order aperitifs which arrived but only after some further promoting and after the first course had been served. My attempts to order a glass of wine were rebuffed twice with the comment that they would send the sommelier who was as charmless as the rest. Our waiter appeared totally inexperienced and unable to answer anything other than in the negative. No advice, no suggestions, no charm. All in all an expensive and not very pleasant experience. One to avoid, at least for dinner
It was my girlfriend's 50th Birthday party and we were all looking forward to it. I managed to get a cake from Selfridges but it took me an hour and a half to get the cake to Sartoria due to the Extinction Rebellion protests. Once I arrived I was told that the management had a policy of charging £8 per head for the cake, which I had already spent a small fortune on, because "it may prevent the guests from ordering desserts". I thus declined the offer and went home ready for our reservation at 7pm.
In fact the guests did order desserts so I asked the waiter that given we had desserts can he kindly present the cake to my girlfriend. Unfortunately the answer was still no unless we paid the aforementioned charge, so I came away extremely disappointed, albeit the staff were excellent and just doing their job. It was more disappointing for me as I have had many business lunches at Sartoria as I am a local person. I shall not be going there again in the near future
Service was very bad - the waiter that served our table is indifferent if not rude. Plates were taken away from the table w/o food even being finished. The food is mediocre and obviously over-priced. Will not come back again.
Sadly, the old Sartoria is gone They may do more business at the bar these days. No sign of dear old Michael, the Sommelier, The refined Clayon works mornings. The arugula salad was a mixed salad, the tomatoes which we had to ask for were stale, the fish order came in a bowl plopped on top of mashed potatoes, with mushrooms squeezed to the side. The Manager is a Sweetheart though and tried to make our experience a nice one. Furthermore, we asked on our reservation for a window table which they ignored, then they sat us by the reception station.saying all the window tables were reserved, but by the time we left, 3 window tables were still vacant.
The oldest school you can imagine. Classic and amazing. The zabaglione for 2 is a desert island dish. Six stars would not be enough.
Unlike my prior experience the food was overcooked. The manager was gracious and offered a dessert.
With that said I found the waiters to be rather cold and not attending to needs
It’s a little overpriced for the offer. The service not as great as you should expect as the waiters forgot (3 times) that we booked it under the set menu expectations. The food variety was limited even on the A La Carte menu. The quality of food and presentation were both very good.
You pay for where you dine. If you are looking for good authentic Italian food, there are plenty more reasonably priced restaurants around Fitzrovia and Marylebone.
