When we arrived had so much space but by time our food came it was like we was dining with the people next to us. Quite close. The menu has changed so happy hour drinks we used to have are no longer included and the selection of happy hour drinks was limited but was still nice and the later happy hour service was a bonus!
Nice time had by all food came quickly.
First of all they pushed my birthday booking from 8pm to 10.30 and refused to be accountable for the mistake made with my booking. There were two young guys waiting that night that spent most of their time chatting up women instead of bring people their food/drinks in a timely manner, I could go on. Terrible, terrible experience.
It was my belated birthday meal. We were told to arrive 15 minutes before our booked table. We waited awhile before we were acknowledged. It seemed they were very short staffed. We did wait awhile for our drinks and starters. The staff was friendly even when they were under pressure, but overall we enjoyed our meal.
The lady manager that came in while we was still there was very rude, also she was drinking cocktails on the job and her attitude really stinks, the staff would forget that you’ve ordered a drink from the bar or something
Had to wait a while for table but always an enjoyable meal and great happy hour cocktails at Satay
Amazing! Both the food and the setting. Great for a night out with your friends for a catch up and a nice vibe. Have not stopoed ralking to friends and damily about how great the food was. Thanks Satay Bar.
Great atmosphere, but didn’t like it when it was coming up to 2 hours we were still eating and drinking and we got told that they need the table for another booking. So we left not wanting to spend any more money for further drinks.
I would like to note that one of the managers, sadly I did not get her name but she is a Black lady, was very accommodating. She was polite, greeted us with a smile (unlike the hostess) and made us feel welcome.
The hostess is usually very straight, never smiles but always gets the job done. I don't mind that so much, but a smile every now and then might make things more welcoming and make you want to return a little more.
The bar and waiting staff were very professional. 7 times out of 10, this is the case. On this night in particular, the 'good staff' were in.
My friend and I didn't even realise the time had flown by. That was a sign of a good time.
Food is always perfect when I attend, as are the drinks.
I look forward to my next visit.
Great food but service was a little haphazard. Starters and mains came together and there was enough space on the table but staff were friendly and cleared away empty dishes promptly.
The food was ok but the service was non existent!!
Was not greeted as we entered the restaurant, and they got our order wrong several times. Not once was we asked if everything is ok, and to finish we were charged for something on the menu we did not receive. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend!!
With a 2hour turnaround on our table the fact that we waited for 30 minutes for fries (that did not arrive) after the rest of the dishes were served was disappointing.
Having to point out we were charged for fries that did not arrive was disgraceful.
Our drinks were not delivered simultaneously; a round was actually delivered to another table.
Satay used to be a solid venue but not any more.
Really enjoyed everything ,food was spot on , cocktails were lovely and music was good. Staff were lovely.
I usually have a good time and enjoyed my meals. However, on my last visit I did not enjoy it at all. I order tofu pad Thai, the tofu was hard and the rest of it was over cooked. I complained and got it redone but it was the same, in the end I didn't eat. I was so embarrassed because I came with friends and had told them how lovely it was there, I was let done bitterly . I order cocktail which took ages to come, staff was serving in sleeveless tops, with arm pit and bra exposed, this is so unhygienic . To make it even more awful, we were ask to leave the table after 1hour 30mins. We did not even get a chance to enjoy our drink and we arrived on time. It was dreadful, I will not be coming back to Satay and I would recommend. The older lady who collect the money is sooooooo rude and abrupt.
Went for a birthday. Waited almost an hour for our food. Got apologies but no discount for the meal etc... very poor service mainly from the kitchen. Was really looking forward to eating here as I heard and saw good reviews. Maybe this time was a one off but absolutely disappointed.
Excellent evening; the cocktails are very good and at happy hour prices too. Food is amazing and prices agreeable. Great buzzy atmosphere.
This place has great food, atmosphere and cocktails.
The cocktails are the best and the choice is amazing. I recommend going when they have happy hour.
I tried a new dish at this visit with Salmon and it was gorgeous and tasty. You can choose anything off the menu and you are guaranteed it will be tasty.
My friend can’t eat gluten and she could not eat the egg fried rice. This is when I found out they don’t make the rice to order and that’s a shame and you can tell that the quality isn’t great.
It took 2 hours to get our starts, and not all off us got our starts together. Then one off my friends had to bring her main home as it wasn't on the order.
Having placed our salmon dish order the waiter then came back saying they have no salmon...on a big big Friday! I could of popped over the market and bought some myself, this threw me right off.
Was really good but the service was very slow once it became busy... we had to literally stand up and flag the waitress down to ask her for the bill.
The service we received was very unfriendly. Considering it was a 26th birthday celebration with family, we expected to be able to talk to each other. However, the music was so loud inside that we couldn't hear ourselves think. They also did not put on the air conditioning after us asking several times, so we eventually had to finish our meal outside because it was so unbearably hot. The food was nice but overall, a generally bad experience.
The food and cocktails never fail to disappoint ....would definitely recommend.
Service was fine, nothing exceptional but certainly nothing sounding like the bad reviews I read.
I received the biggest filet of salmon that I have ever seen and it was delicious
Good food, good service, I would come back!!
Not as great as always, the atmosphere was a little off but great food and drinks. Though I do wish they would add back some of the better drinks to the happy hour!
The service was extremely slow and the waiter was uncommunicative. However, the manager was good and helped to improve our experience. The evening ended on a slightly better note but it was terrible to begin with. I have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions and have to truthfully say that this was the first time that I have a negative experience, but felt that it should be noted.
Upon arrival I could see the waitress was flustered and rushed off her feet. She advised that she had arrived me and I should come & find her to be seated & the rest of my guests had not arrived.
Once my guests arrived we were seated. We placed our orders for drinks, starters & mains.
Our starters arrived before our drinks did. We waited a total of 45 minutes for our drinks. The manager did not even acknowledge me when I had to go to bar to get my drink!
The mains took a further 1 hr to arrive. The resturant was so hot, no A/C Nor were any of the folding doors open, despite it being 28oC outside.
So I was there 5/05/18 I've been here so many times but this was absolute carnage. No organisation even though I'd booked a table peolple standing around not really knowing who to talk or to ask about their booking. The woman who eventually seated us looked stressed and miserable as she always looks when I'm in there. I understand it's a bank holiday weekend and more people are around but for the love of God hire some more staff.
I took my brother who was visiting from the U.S and he was appalled he just couldn't believe how badly organised it was, there were plates still left on the table after people had gone dirty tables not good. The only reason I continue to go there is because the food and atmosphere is good but I'm seriously thinking about boycotting Satay for a while.
Booked Satay for my 22nd birthday. Vibes were amazing. Service was a little slow but expected because it was Bank Holiday weekend, staff were very apologetic and even gave us free shots and a bottle of prosecco to apologise for the wait/slow service.
Would 100% return because the food was amazing, but will probably return on a quieter day!
The Satay Bar is normally one of my favourite restaurants, however, this was a disappointing visit that was met with extremely poor customer service, long waiting times, a chaotic atmosphere and unorganised staff.
First, the waiter took our orders for drinks, he then came back 2 mins later and rushed us into ordering our starters and mains. Our starters arrived after 15 mins, we noticed that our drinks still hadn’t and alerted the staff to this 3 times; they arrived 30 mins later (after we’d finished our starters). Our mains arrived 30 mins later in which the waiter brought out the wrong food. I have to say that during this time not one member of staff was attentive, came to see if our food was ok or asked if we needed more drinks. After we had finished our food we tried (in vain) to get the attention of a waiter as we wanted to order more drinks and some dessert, instead we were left sitting there as the staff raced around manically. We waited a further 30 mins before a waiter came over and asked us if we’d been given the bill yet... to which we replied that we hadn’t even been given a dessert menu yet and asked to speak to the manager. We complained about the extremely poor service, to which she profusely apologised and gave us each a free glass of prosecco. Considering that the Satay Bar gives each diner a 2 hour slot in which to eat, we spent most of that time waiting around for our drinks and food; needless to say that we were there for well over 2 hours.
Unfortunately, this experiennce was a thumbs down 👎🏾.
the lamb massaman was so good, especially when ordered with the roti and coconut rice. Snapper could have used a spicy kick and the chicken wings were hard and stale. Would not have had anything to complain about, except that the waitress (who happened to be the shift manager) sprayed our food and my arm with commercial grade table cleaner, and refused to admit that she did (why would we make this up!!!). She was very rude, confrontational and unhelpful about the situation, but fortunately enough another waitress was completely understanding and resolved the issue for us (perhaps because she's used to mopping up her rude managers mess). Overall for the food I would recommend. Drink are delicious but take so long to come, even a request for table water took nearly 20 minutes, with excuses being "it has nothing to do with us". for such a small eating space surely they could afford to speed up this process?
Affordable, good location, great food but awful awful service. Waited over an hour and a half for our mains, despite our starters taking only 10 minutes. Every time we tried to ask a server where our food was (as we suspected the check had not been put through) the only reply we received was 'yes' and then they would just walk off and not return. It was impossible to grab a servers attention and I resulted in going to the main bar to find out about the food and order drinks. What should have been an evening meal turned into a 4 hour stay. Such a shame as the food was great. Just goes to show how important service is and employing staff who will actually talk and help the customer!!
I took my son here to celebrate his birthday as I know that even mid week it’s a good spot with great ambience plus nice food & cocktails.
I have been visiting the Satay Bar for years. My son really enjoyed it and am sure will recommend to his friends.
My only reservation is that the service isn’t great but that may be only because it’s so busy.
Good food, good ambience. A little slow on serving the drinks, but a great little place to eat
I wouldnt go back to satay bar again, service was poor to a point we waited for 45 mins to even be offered a drink. We ended up walking out as service was terrible
Sunny Friday evening and it was PACKED. When we eventually got our table, we received our cocktails after 20 minutes waiting. It was watery and very weak. After trying to get the waiters attention we finally gave our orders, the sides of Roti came after 30 minutes and then we waited another 40 minutes for our food. The side was supposed to come WITH the main course. Overall the experience wasn’t very good and the waiter wasn’t at all attentive to our table. I wouldn’t recommend going there on a Friday night at all.
Attended on a hot Friday evening... wow.
It was packed to the rafters. I am a regular but I have never seen it like that. The bouncer didn't know what he was doing. He forced me to wait for my table, despite it being pre booked. Didn't attempt to find a waiter to assist, nothing. Just kept me standing there without reason. In the meantime, he allowed four other customers to walk straight past without confirming their booking!
In frustration, I called the waitress over myself and checked in.
We ordered our drinks with starter and main to arrive together.
The starter arrived by itself after 10 mins. We then waited a further 50 mins for our main. We waited 45 mins for our cocktails.
On the second round of cocktails, they brought mine but didn't bring my friends for 20mins. I went up and got it from the bar myself in the end, as it was just sitting there.
There were 3 waitresses but they were overwhelmed with the workload.
I saw at least 4 people send their food back. I guess it was wrong. The ladies to the left and right of us were complaining. I refused to pay the service charges. A poor poor show Satay.
Oh and to top it off, I tried to order dessert while having dinner, but the waitress said that it might arrive before we finished our meal. So we waited. When we did finally order, there were no desserts left in the kitchen!
Booked a table online, arrived early a instructed. When i arrived and asked for a booth i was told by the obnoxious self absorbed female staff that it was for 3 or more people, even though there were 2 couples sitting in 2 booths. Her justification were "they had arrived early!" Then we had to wait over 15 minutes just to get menu as this same individual walked past several times and did not see our table had nothing on until i complained to the Manager who swiftly made sure our order was taken.
When the main arrived, not even a quarter way in I ended up with a long strand of hair in my mouth. I asked waiter to take it away refusing anything else as this was not an accident. To top it off the same staff member told me it could have got in my food whilst it was being carried through as the bar was busy......really???? I have eaten at Satay many times, but that will be the last. I have heard many people complain about the venue, staff and the way its managed over the past couple of years and now know its true. Thank the manager for the non alcoholic cocktail, but it was left behind as it was an insult.
I'm a regular here, but the service was pretty slow this time around - after our main courses we waited 30 minutes for our table to be cleared and to order our desserts (I had to approach the waiter to get him to move the plates), we were then told that the dessert that we'd waited so long for was unavailable!
Good food and service. Staff is very professional and polite.
I have been to satay bar many times before with friends and have always had a nice time each time. I went back for the first time in almost years For a second date and it was lovely, I loved the vibe, food, cocktails was great. And a bonus was the happy hour had extended until 10pm. I am sure it used to be 8pm before which is soo good. Me and my date was impressed.
I had a table booked for 8 people on a Saturday night. The bouncer to start with was extremely rude! Even another customer made a comment on how rude he was to me all because I moved out the line. It took around 15 minutes to even speak to anyone and get seated on our table that was ready for us. We was rushed to order our food and drinks which all come out at different times some people had finished drinks before others got theirs. We was there around 2 and a half hours and only managed to order 3 drinks each as the service was very slow. The staff just looked like headless chickens running around but was never rude apart from the bouncer. Can’t fault the food all was very nice as usual just the service was snail like as it was very busy.
