Every time I'm in London I always make a point of visiting the Satay House. If you want Malaysian food well cooked and served this place is worth a visit.
Love this place.
Only disappointment was that I requested quiet corner and was given a table in middle next to gangway.
We enjoyed the food very much and it was such good value. The service was pleasant, too. We would rather not have had to listen to the beat music which seems to be obligatory in all restaurants these days. Why do restaurant owners think that all their customers want to hear music whilst they are dining?
A new find having worked in the area years. Absolute find, delicious food and great service!
Really good, will be back!
Great food and good service. I wasn't familiar with the items on the menu but the waitress very kindly took me through it and made some recommendations. I had the vegetable spring roles and a chicken curry with rice which was very tasty.
As always, the Satay House did not disappoint. We were tired and hungry and enjoyed the downstairs warm ambience. I have been going to the Satay House since the 80's. I love the food and the friendly atmosphere.
Excellent flavourful food highly recommend, service was excellent
Extremely tasty food and a friendly and helpful staff. The dining space is not especially comfortable, and while we were lucky, a very loud table left shortly after we arrived, and it's clear that at times the noise level could be a problem here. All in all, however, very satisfied and I would gladly return.
I never fail to have a really great meal at this restaurant. It is one of my favourite.
What a wonderful dinner. Warm and welcoming service, fantastic food, cosy ambiance. This is a little gem and I’ll be back as soon as possible to try the rest of the fab dishes on the menu. Really special.
Food and services were excellent. Food was a bit too spicy for us but it was not them, it was us.
This was our fourth visit to Satay House, the first being almost 6 years ago. We live in South Wales, our daughter now lives in London , therefore we have tried a variety of restaurants but always return to Satay House. The dishes never fail to please, the beef Rendang is absolutely delicious. Great customer service with very helpful staff. My only criticism would be that downstairs was rather chilly, however we did visit on a particularly cold January evening. Already looking forward to our next visit
Great rendang and laksa!!!
Wonderful food, and great service. Highly recommended
Food always good, just the space is small, a bigger restaurant perhaps? 😊
Everything else is good
We enjoyed the food tremendously and felt it was authentic Malaysian/Indonesian fare.
Used to be better.
Satay portion tasty but small.
Beef Randang had good flavour but meat was a bit cold like it had been reheated (but not enough)
Nasi Goreng was ordered mild as our boy doesnt like his food too spicy, but it was just flavourless fried rice.
Roti Canai was a bit dull.
Kway teow and Chicken Main (a bit like butter chicken) was good, and our wings starter with chilli/garlic garnish was probably the highlight of the evening.
Used to come often a few years back but will not be going back in a hurry.
Some of the food came out really late. Other than that it was fab.
Dining in The basement is 50% of experience so not that happy
Really good food for good value. Service was a little slow but it was a busy Saturday night so it can't be helped. Staff were lovely all the same.
The food was good but not outstanding. The service was pretty bad. I ended up stacking the main course dishes on the table myself and still they weren't cleared, I didn't pay the service charge. It was a special occasion meal out. But made not so special.
I’ve now been a customer for nearly over 10 years and the food quality, the taste and service is making me come back every time. That is not easy to maintain for a busy restaurant but this place has stood the test of time!
Amazing Satay, great Nasi Goreng!
Welcoming and attentive staff. Really enjoyed the food, especially the dagin Satay. We have tried several Malaysian restaurants in London over the Years. This is in my, and my Malaysian wife's opinion, one of the best.
Tasty food and great services! Staffs are friendly.
Very helpful staff who recommended excellent choices for a balanced menu for four people to share. A variety of very tasty dishes with hot ingredients served as optional extras. A pleasant ambience, though when full rather noisy.
My husband missed the food in Singapore and was close to tears when he had kari laksa. We enjoyed the food. My favourite was kari laksa and ais kacang.
It was great. Food fab - particularly the Nasi Goring - and very pleasantly staffed.. Close to Paddington - off Praid Street - where I normally travel to and from so a really discovery as far as I'm concerned. Played the 80's music I grew up with at just the right level. Sat upstairs but they have a downstairs as well... They were turning people away so need to book in advance.... Really good and I look forward to going there again...
Great food, the most authentic I’ve had in the UK by a country mile. Service was a bit slow. Would go again and happily recommend
Food was so good. Everyone ordered something different and all were more than happy. We will be back for sure!
The food was unpretentious and DELICIOUS. As a homesick Singaporean, I was very impressed and hope to come back more often. The service was also very attentive.
Love this place. Food is seriously tasty. More expensive than your average curry but definitely worth it.
Food was excellent, the service speedy enough. The ambiance is a tat simple but nothing bad to say about it either... I had a terrible desire for true satay and they nailed it. Trumps everything else.
Disappointed in both main meals - gado gado was pretty tasteless; vegetables were pre-cooked and bland - realise that potato needs to be cooked but rest really didn’t. Tofu also had no taste. Peanut sauce was very tasty, however. Kari ayam was a lot better, but it too could have been more flavoursome. Roti canai and accompanying sauce were great
A real good place to eat. Unfortunately due to the busiest time we were sat near the door and it was quite cold when people go in and out.
our favourite Malaysian in London, food is amazing
A good range of malaysian dishes for a small place. Satay especially good. Murtabak recommended. Kwayteow fine, not exceptional. Currys okay, lack subtlety of flavour. Service friendly. Ais kachang taste is authentic, but would be better on a plate so that one can eat the different layers at the same time instead of later by layer
