Great food we got a combination plate and were able to taste a number of dishes including hummus, banagunish, and more. The shrimp and rice we had as main entree was delicious. Loved the cozy little booth we sat in too!
I made a reservation for a birthday lunch we arrived and they were closed. I tried calling but no answer the mail box is full.
Good but outside has limited space
Sayat Nova was great! The food was delicious, we can’t wait to come back. My family is Armenian and we are so pleased to find an Armenian restaurant in the city. We ordered several appetizers, which were all delicious and the kebab combo-the lulla kebab was my favorite but they were all very tasty! The service was great and he was friendly.
Always wonderful always consistent one magnificent ohio
Food was ok, but not great, service was excellent. Nice ambience and decor.
Quiet atmosphere, good food, neighborhood hidden gem.
Amazing armenian restaurant. Yalanchi sarma is a little sweet, but love the food always. Drinks are amazing!
Sayat Nova is a gem. The food is delicious and well-balanced; service is lovely; noise level quiet enough to have real conversation, and prices reasonable for the location and quality.
It was our first foray into Armenian food and we loved every minute.
We were promptly seated. We thought some of the food was under seasoned. The hommos and baba ghanouj were excellent. But the stuffed grape leaves (Sarma) and the meatballs seemed under seasoned.
Great food at a good value, right off Michigan Ave.
Friendly service in a cozy setting.
Everything was great. The food was good -- we had Sarma appetizer (delish!), I had lamb and couscous, my friend had the trout. We both enjoyed a our meals very much and then split a dessert, which I don't know what it was called, but had a very nice cream filling, which was also very good. They had a piano player and singer which was very nice ...and on a Wednesday evening. All in all -- I would recommend it.
The host was rude and I didn’t like the way he treated us. The food and the cocktail tasted awful. It’s not worth the money.
Excellent customer service, delicious lamb kebab/rice,kicked off richly with creamy perfect temperature lentil soup & perfectly chilled crisp Sauvignon Blanc glass of wine. The amazing talent and scope of Bob Solone’s extensive musical repertoire are the highlight of my meal/experience. This was my first visit and I’m so glad to have met the wonderful fan base that Bob enjoys. I will definitely be back for another wonderful welcoming evening.
Nice food in a very cozy romantic atmosphere. Great for a date night out.
Absolutely delicious food! The dining room is cozy and stylish.
I travel to Chicago from my home in Boston. .I’ve been coming many years to this place and celebrated many happy occasions. We were there near closing time and it seemed that may have been part of that was a somewhat disappointing experience. The waitress was somewhat distracted and impatient, the food rushed. There were people at the bar who seemed to be friends of the bartender or host. The music was turned very loud and the genre was out of sync with the feel of the place. I will definitely go back, and hope that this experience was an anomaly.
We were unimpressed with this restaurant, especially after seeing many 5 star reviews. The kebabs were nothing special. The bread served with the babaganoush was tasteless.
Sayat Nova serves traditional Armenian food which is very tasty. The dishes were well-prepared and the portions were large. In addition, the prices were quite reasonable.
Delicious food. A good bargain. Ample servings. Been in business a long time. Hope they continue. Always reliable.
We love coming back into this hidden gem. This place single handedly was responsible for turning me onto lamb. I had had it before, but it was too “gamey”. Whatever spices and live they put into their dishes just work. So good...
This has become my favorite restaurant in the city. The food is AMAZING. There are tons of healthy/grilled options and fresh menu options available. They also have live music on Wednesday with an excellent piano player. Great for a date, meetings and dining-in and takeout.!
Amazing food and atmosphere
This 50-yr-old restaurant offers consistently fresh & delicious food, and gracious service in a smallish, cozy space. Diners familiar with Greek or other Middle Eastern cuisines will find much familiar here, but also some distinctive twists. (We haven't dined there on entertainment nights, when they have live music and even dance.) Prices also compare very favorably to many other newer estaurants nearby.
Lovely decor and friendly waitstaff. Chicken couscous and mixed kabobs are very good.
One of my favorite hidden gems when I want a relaxing, intimate conversation over dinner in the company of friendly staff and in a semi-formal setting. I love the food and enjoy showing visitors this quiet oasis in the middle of our busy city.
I liked Sayat Nova, but I didn't love it. Maybe my expectations were to high? Service was good until the end, then it dropped off considerably and we couldn't find our server to get the check or pay.
What a great place! Couldn’t ask for better service and such delicious food!
Truly exquisite food, well prepared, right-sized portions, quick service
Charming little place that's quiet enough to hear dinner partner. Service is not white tablecloth level. Used items not removed, for instance. My sautéed lamb was a bit overdone, but tasty. Chicken kebob was overdone.
Excellent food, inexpensive,
Attentive staff. Will definitely go back!
Excellent food spanning Levantine, Middle Eastern and Caucasian cuisines.
Food was fresh and tasty. The waiter was very considerate to inform us that bottles of wine were half-price on that day as we were to order one glass each, thus saving us $22. Thank you.
Delicious food, intimate setting and attentive service. A total find only half a block from our Chicago Marriott!
Nice, old-Chicago ambiance. Great service, good food at a reasonable price. Convenient to Michigan Ave/Miracle Mile locations.
It was a family dinner/lunch.
The food was ok.
However, the chicken was ok- a bit smelly.
The menu options is very limited.
My wife is half Armenian and we always look for an Armenian restaurant when we travel. They are harder to find than you think - there isn't one in Manhattan - but there is Sayat Nova in the heart of Chicago just steps from the Magnificent Mile and just around the corner from the Intercontinental. The restaurant dates to 1965 and they retain that vibe at the Streeterville location. Comfy secluded booths line one wall and subdued lighting make the environment reminiscent of a classic supper club. The food, based on family recipes, stood my wife's comparing it to her grandmother's. The Shish Kebab lamb was tender and cooked just right. All the side dishes were excellent. They have excellent Armenian wine from Karas and Areni plus brandy and vodka. I had the Sayat Nova cocktail which was great.
Enjoyed another nice evening at Sayat Nova. The food was good, and the ambiance was great for dinner with friends. Staff was welcoming and service was attentive. Never disappointed here.
Sayat Nova does offer delivery in partnership with Caviar.
