Had an enjoyable meal on Saturday lunchtime. Food was of a high standard, my wife and friend had a vegetarian meal, which they said was very tasty.
Lovely relaxed evening. Very helpful staff. Nice atmosphere. Glad mentioned it was a birthday when booking as presented with lovely chocolates on "Happy Birthday" plate.
Food pretty good, service left a lot to be desired.
A birthday plate was to be given to my partner but it didn't happen. It would benefit from some back ground music. Food was wonderful. We'd come again.
Excellent dinner during a brief visit to Aldeburgh last week. No evidence of the recent criticism of staff attitudes or poor service. I would single out David as most attentive and helpful. My only criticism is that my Haddock and Leek soup was a little bland, otherwise the food was excellent.
Lovely fish and good selection of wines, lovely staff, would go again.
What a disappointment. The service was so poor - our waiter was really ineffective and lacking in any personality or interest. A couple of times we asked for things which did not materialise (like the bread!) and the waiter couldn't be less interested. The food itself was lacklustre - my husband had the worlds smallest mussels and described them as the 'worst I've ever had'. Genuinely would not recommend this place to anyone.
Food not as i had hoped, was hoping for more shell fish .
Great food, nice setting over looking the sea. Worth a visit.
We drove an hour to get there, it was well worth it. I'm assured the steak and the lobster were excellent, and my fish was superb. The menu was well thought out, not a big range but a sufficient variety to suit most tastes.
Waiting times were of that length where you're not wondering where your food has gone, nor worried it was hurried.
Probably a nice view out to sea during the day...(evening visit, dark out)
Also, the alcohol free IPA was surprisingly ok.
We enjoyed a very sea food dinnet . All was perfect
Some of the staff are extremely rude. It's not our visit, we hoped the situation would have improved.
Although the food was good the attitude of the waiter who served us was less than acceptable. One of our group ordered the burger and requested it to be well done. When it arrived is was quite pink inside -on pointing this out to the waiter he proceeded to quote that it had been cooked to public health requirements raising his voice above me to make his point, totally ignoring the issue of it having been requested to be well done. He then also said it was pink due to the amount of bacon that was in the burger - the menu did not list it as beef/ bacon burger which if there was that much bacon in it, maybe it should be listed as such. It was almost the attitude if you don't like it - tough. At the end of the meal another of our party asked for a coffee with hot milk - to which the response was snapped out ' of course it comes with hot milk. Ok, maybe it does in their restaurant but a polite, yes of course would have sufficed. There is a note on the bottom of the menu that not all ingredients are listed for the dishes but if the beef burger contains that much bacon to make it pink then I think this should be listed or at least pointed out to the customer.
We have eaten in the restaurant several times previously and never experienced this kind of attitude from the staff before. As customers we were made to feel as if we were a nuisance to the waiter, not a pleasant experience and definitely will not be repeating.
My girlfriend and I had a fantastic meal. The food was well presented. Good portion sizes. The wine list had a good selection of wines and not too expensive. The restaurant was busy and this didn’t affect the level of service. We’d recommend it and will be going back. The only negative was although we’d ordered a predinner drink the food arrived very quickly before we’d had enough time to enjoy our drink. But that wasn’t a big deal. Well done to the seafood and grill.
We were really impressed by this restaurant. Food was gorgeous, service great, and very good value for money. The sea views a bonus. Thoroughly recommend.
On entering the hotel we were greeted and we asked for a drink in the lounge and were told that someone would take our order. Unfortunately wires got crossed. We did get our drinks after I asked at the bar. After that we were treated with every hospitality that we expected from a lovely Restaurant. We had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed every moment of our joint Birthdays and Wedding Anniversary. Food was fantastic as was the service. Thank you.
An excellent meal with good service. Good range of menu options Great view from window table.
The food was very good but unfortunately the service was extremely poor the restaurant was not busy, we arrived on time and waited where asked but ignored by several of the staff. We had to approach a member of staff to ask to be seated which was done reluctantly and then waited a further five minutes to receive any attention. I believe the FOH staff let down the kitchen staff with their lack of attention, a pity as the restaurant is in a most desirable spot with fabulous sea views.
We had been really looking forward to dinner at the restaurant, and the food was tasty but the service just didn't match the reviews.
We were advised our table was ready ahead of time and our view out to sea was lovely. It seemed to take some time before our waitress appeared and our drinks even longer.
Our nibbles arrived the same time as our starters, and so they had to go back. The waitress questioned why we wouldn't want the two together?
The service seemed to be disjointed during the evening; we were either being asked twice over if everything was ok or having to grab the attention of staff for more drinks?
Such a shame as our choices from the menu were delicious, and the view was great.
We were celebrating two birthdays and the staff were very helpful with our cake and candles.
They also tried their best to help with three successive wasps who wanted to join in. In the
end we captured them and they let them free outdoors.
Two of us tried the chickpea pancake but we thought the batter could be a little lighter. The
vegetables were lovely.
A lovely birthday meal with the family
We did enjoy our meal it was very good although we thought a bit overpriced. First time we went service was good but the second time was slow. It was very quiet both occasions there was no atmosphere which is often the case in hotel restaurants.
Service was good once junior staff knew how to take drinks orders at the bar. Food presented well and tasty. Very surprised st bill though - a bottle of red wine added to bill, in error you hope. Suggest some staff get better trained in till use and allocation of drinks to correct table before much longer.
We were made very welcome and enjoyed ourselves. Food good quality and menu wide enough for our party. Slight reduction on scoring because requests for no butter sauce on steak and no coleslaw on burger failed to get through to the kitchen.
Drinks are pricey but delightfully presented. Will go again.
Booked for a evening meal on the terrace unfortunately a storm blew up but the staff managed to relocate us inside without any problems. Smashing food and great service. Finished evening sitting at the bar a variety of premium sprits. Big thank you to the bar staff Ahmed for going above he’s duty on helping us get home.
Very patchy and inattentive service. Food very nice.
Lovely food and a great atmosphere. Outstanding view of the sea
Great location and the service was extremely high standard
Awful service ! Had to leave before we were even seated
My husband and I came here a year or so ago and raved about the food, we decided to bring our children along to celebrate our wedding anniversary but was really disappointed there was no fillet steak and no lobster on the menu, we had our very average dinner which was pricey for what we ended up with. Some of the staff were very friendly others not so. Wont be going again! Will stick to chips on the beach next time.
We had booked a table outside but there was a keen wind so decided to ask for a table inside which was no trouble. Overall it was very pleasant - the staff extremely helpful and courteous - had to wait a little while for our mains but they were busy
Looking forward to our next visit
Good food, and pleasant environment slightly spoiled by casual and disrespectful start by rather rude waiter/barman. First five minutes and last five minutes are the most important in any kind of service interaction. Pity as menu was interesting and dishes were excellent.
Overall pleasant experience. Great table and view. Unfortunately 2 of the 3 fish option were no longer on the menu so that was disappointing, however food was good.
Very relaxed setting, with lovely sea views. Great food, good service. Very friendly.
A seafront restaurant / hotel with indoor and outdoor eating. A modern, airy and clean restaurant with a seafood menu, well presented food and great puddings! Good service and great value for money. Worth a visit if you are in Aldeburgh.
Fantastic, calming, sea view with excellent food and attentive staff. A good place for meeting friends and escaping the rush of daily life.
We booked to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary as we both love Seafood and our usual restaurant we go to had recently closed. We were so pleased that we did choose the Brudenell as the food as amazing and we will definitely book again in the future.
Our main course took nearly 2 hours to arrive. To constantly use the excuse of “we are very busy” is so poor. There were not enough staff waiting on tables for a hot bank holiday weekend and clearly not enough staff in the kitchens to cater for the constant flow of visitors. Of course it was going to be busy overlooking the sea on a sunny day. The food was good when it arrived but we won’t rush back because the service was so abysmal.
We pre-booked for a bank holiday weekend lunch for two. All tables have excellent views of the sea, and we have been a couple of times before in the past 5 years.
The waiter was efficient and friendly, a little bit too fast - but I would never complain about that! (but our plates were whisked away whilst eating our last mouthful).
I went for a whole lobster, and whilst it was gorgeous and plenty of meat, for £41 with just a few chips for accompaniment (not rosemary chips as listed?), the plate could have been a bit more imaginative and generous with a bit of salad/veg.
My only criticism is that it's all looking a little tired and in need of a refurb.
Really enjoyed my lunch at the Seafood Grill. Really fresh and tasty oysters (some of the best I have had). Friendly service and lovely location overlooking the sea.
