In most places the meal we had would be described as pleasant and satisfying, but those with a memory of how things were can only look on it with disappointment. The dishes now are made for comfort rather than excitement. A crab bisque kept to crab and cream brings satisfaction but no gastronomic adventure. The cod and muscles was simple (though I prefer avoidance of the vacuum bath) but without innovation.

We had lunch midweek and the restaurant was very quiet therefore there was little atmosphere. I had the set lunch and my wife selected from the a la carte menu. The food was good, but not spectacular and the service was efficient, except that a side dish was forgotten, although to be fair to the waiter, this was removed from the bill without being asked.

The question was how did this restaurant manage to get a Michelin star? Frankly, the only thing which was good and tasty was my gnocchi in their limited menu! I then had smallest piece of unimaginative sea bass with only a few small peeled tomatoes! My partner had a dry pork parcel and a tough and dry ribeye steak for main. And our deserts nothing to write home about! The bill came more than £200 without alcohol! Very surprised with the whole experience. Will not go back again.

The best birthday experience! From the warm and welcoming staff, to the excellent decor and classic English menu, this was a 10 star dinner! They even gave my mum a birthday card signed by all the staff and sang happy birthday. Can’t wait to go back.

Lovely lunch. Our first visit and really enjoyed it. We had the A La Carte menu and asked for pairing wines. The wines matched the food perfectly. There is an exceptionally well priced set lunch with optional drinks package which seemed superb value for money so definately worth a try too. The restaurant was very quiet which was a shame as it affected the atmosphere; definately deserved to be busier. Staff were lovely.

The restaurant is rather small but it didn’t lack atmosphere. The service wasn’t the best unfortunately. When we turned up we were only offered the food menu and had to ask for the drinks and wine line list. This led to us being presented with cocktails with our first course of food - which for us, wasn’t a good combination. The Gourmand menu was nice, simple food but we felt as though it could have been improved with a few more dishes. Each course didn’t disappoint. The courses come out very quickly so we had to ask to slow them down half way through to avoid finishing the 6 courses in an hour or so. That said, the food was superb and didn’t disappoint.

Having eaten here previously, it was disappointing this time to have no amuse bouche or petit fours, very unusual for this class of restaurant. In addition, the French fries were very reminiscent of standard supermarket fare and clearly not homemade, again, underwhelming.

A real hidden gem! I had an absolutely wonderful evening here for my partner's birthday and I honestly cannot fault a thing. The service, quality, and attention to detail were phenomenal, and the food was outstanding. I will definitely be recommending here for any upcoming special occasions.

This restaurant is consistently excellent. The food is of high standard and it is beautifully presented. The staff is largely Portugese who deliver a very high service level with delicacy. This is a restaurant to which we will return.

A small but nicely appointed space adjacent to the bar and lounge, the restaurant is intimate and romantic. We had the 9 course chef's course with the wine tasting course as well. The food was beautifully presented and quite tasty. Each wine pairing was explained by the sommelier and every one was spot on as a course accompaniment. Service, while excellent, seemed a bit rushed. We could have used more time between courses, mostly to process the wine and discuss the meal. In total, on a Tuesday evening, there were a total of 8 people, including us. Seems a shame for such a nice experience.

We dined at 7 Park Place for my wife's birthday and were very pleasantly surprised with the food and service. Decor is old fashioned but in a reassuring sort of way but the food is modern and delicious. Couldn't fault the 3 courses we had and were served by Lara who was a delight, lovely personality.

I would have given it a 5 star but the quantity was far from being sufficient. We understand it is nouvelle cuisine but this wouldn't have been enough for a chihuahua. I am small and not a big eater but I left the restaurant still feeling hungry and that's not right.

Arrives a little early and was seated with no issues. Had the tasting menu and everything was PHENOMENAL. Each dish was magnificent and the presentation, and explanation of each meal, was great. We were made to feel like a private dining experience. They remembered that we were their for our 6 month anniversary and activities gave us a card at the end that was signed by the staff. Wonderful experience and will definitely be back next time we are in London.

The dining room of the St James's Hotel is a very comfortable place to be. The service is kind, efficient and attentive. The food is very high quality and deserving of its Michelin recognition. The wines by the glass are few in number but the red wine chosen was excellent. This was our first visit. It will be repeated. It is certainly recommended. It is a little expensive but the cost is justified by the quality.
