Shampan Bromley is proud to have been nominated as the top 10 Indian Restaurants for the outer London and Suburbs región in the British Curry Awards for the last 7 years.
Food lovely - service not up to standards. Especially when there is a 12.5% service charge and an extra £10 for it just being Valentine’s Day. Would expect better service if I have to pay more for that
Fantastic as always - can’t beat Shampan
The waiter could have been a bit more assertive. The bread was really late Coming out and to be honest it was really expensive. It is our local and we do go there a lot but I think the prices have just got too high
We had the Sunday buffet so whilst the food was lovely it wasn't the curry choices we would have had. But the choice and quality was very good. We will come back to try the a la carte menu for sure. It's a lovely restaurant and the staff very professional and friendly.
Eaten here a few times but having spoken with Razan he made a few excellent food choices for us to try.
Will be returning again soon.
Food was okay, I've had better but have also certainly had worse. The chicken tikka starter was very tender and our mains of korma and biryani pleasant enough but the portions were small and I asked for refills on our chutneys and popadoms a couple of times and then got charged for 3 whole lots, despite only one chutney being refilled etc. Also, really felt rushed as they had obviously re-booked the table. Waiters hovered constantly throughout our meal. Money obviously means more than the diners experience here. Overall the food was okay but just not worth the money for me and coupled with the lack of atmosphere due to feeling rushed, I won't be returning.
The overall service was poor. Had a table booked for 5.30pm and before I even arrived someone had called me to confirm my booking and asked what time I would be leaving. They then advised me that if I didn't leave by 8pm there would be a £10 charge per person.
When I finally arrived, everything was rushed as if they were trying to rush me out the door. Had a minute to look at the drinks menu and food menu before being hassled to order.
Whilst eating, servers were taking plates even though I had asked them to wait until we had finished eating.
Had a cocktail for dessert and servers were removing table cloths and asking if I wanted the bill.
The food was nice and had no complaints.
Excellent food and the staff was very friendly and helpful
We hadn't been to Shampan for a few years because it tended to lack the authentic Indian restaurant experience and service wasn't the best. This evening we decided to try it again because it always looks inviting when we drive past. We shouldn't have. The service was rushed, and although not directly impolite, the staff were more focussed on setting up for their Sunday buffet and were sorting cutlery at an entirely unacceptable volume. It was practically deafening and made intimate conversation impossible. We politely expressed our discomfort at the noise level, but the cutlery clashing continued. Dreadful. The food was average, made worse by a stressful, unrelaxing environment. I couldn't think of a worse way to waste my money.
Best curry in Bromley, more high end than usual curry house but very relaxed. Great atmosphere and service, I had sea bass and the skin was crispy and was cooked perfectly. Good choice of wines and I wasn’t drinking so a good choice of non alcoholic cocktails. More pricey than a normal curry but you get what you pay for. Perfect for a get together or special occasion.
The was a lot of flys around our table.
Food had too much sugar in it.
Service was nice thi
Excellent as always recommended and great Indian food!
Amazing food and service every time from Shampan. Just the best
Best curry in Bromley
Lovely tasty food with good service. A girlie night enjoyed by all
Really enjoyed the evening and the food was tasty. Service very good and friendly, but found it very expensive for a starter of poppadoms and just a main course and one drink. I would go again but only for a very special occasion not just for a Friday or Saturday night curry.
Very good service friendly and attentive staff lovely food
Food was indifferent, all dishes come with rice, and a request to have a naan instead of rice was met with horror.
Lovely food. Fast excellent service.
Second visit to this excellent restaurant,The staff are helpful with menu suggestions , has an upmarket feel too it .great food & drinks ,
We will be back
Beautiful food, so happy this restaurant is a local of ours.
Food and service is very good. Would recommend 👍
We used to come here years ago and returned for a special anniversary,
The restaurant is beautifully laid out and comfortable. Much bigger than the former site we were used to. The menu is varied and not as huge as many places. The food is well cooked and of high quality.
But portions are small.
Service was however over intrusive. As it was not busy staff were lurking and as an example offering more drinks when you were half way down the first one. We felt very hurried and despite having 3 courses and a drink were out within the hour! As we finished our last course the table cloths were being removed from the table.
Back in the day you were offered a drink with your bill - not any more.
As I say food great, but let's itself down on poor service
The meals were excellent, but there were two drawbacks. Firstly, it is considerably more expensive than many restaurants of similar class in Bromley and area. Secondly, some of the clientele were VERY loud, and I suspect (knowing the area) that this might not be unusual.
We dined as a party of five, four of us were very pleased with their food,I had a Shampan special biriani which I found a bit disappointing. It had all the ingredients that it stated on the menu, however the lamb chops were exceedingly tough and the rice was dry.
Absolutely fantastic. Food and service was excellent. Can’t wait to go back.
Great Tilapia curry
Restaurant is fantastic. Food is perfect. Very good looking restaurant. 10/10.
Best Indian food in the area. Great service too. I would recommend.
Since the westerham branch has received only a 1 star hygiene rating, we were delighted to discover the Bromley branch (5 star hygiene rating BTW).
The location doesn’t quite measure up to the westerham branch in respect of glamour, atmosphere and sense of occasion. However, the welcoming, friendly staff go a long way to make up for it. The cocktails, food and service were excellent. Something for everyone and all three family generations in our party thoroughly enjoyed the experience
Wonderful food and service.
Very nice meal as always. Service was great and will definatly be back
Food was delicious and piping hot. Service excellent. A little more pricey than your average Curry but well worth it.
Poor service..made to wait on arrival even though we had booked. Popdums were in a basket l, most were broken pieces that looked like left overs from previous diners with one whole one placed on top. Startes were ok. Scallops looked like they were sitting in a bed of frozen peas. One main meal was tasty the other was poor...way too much on the plate and the chicken was not pleasant. We booked for 8.30 and before we finished (9.30 ish) we were the only ones left in the restaurant. Waiters were sweeping up around us and then just hovering as though they couldn't wait for us to leave.
A really stylish interior
Interesting menu with all the regular menu items but lots of specialised regional Indian dishes.
Use of local produce such as organic Kentish lamb
Well cooked and presented
First class welcome and service
That and draught lager, what more could you want after a hard week at work?
Food was good as usual and the staff friendly. Service was slow, table was booked for 6.30pm food did not arrive until 7.50pm.
It's a lovely looking restaurant, the service is great but it is quite expensive and the food was good but nothing better than I've had at other Indian restaurants. It was difficult to hear what the waiters were saying, maybe the acoustics? Overall it was good but as we had to travel a distance to get there we wouldn't go out of our way to go back.
Briliant ... great food loved the fresh king prawns and choice of wines that complimented
Shampan is a lovely restaurant, it has excellent service and the food is really very good. I would say it’s a little pricey so it only tends to be a night out for us on a more special occasion.
Hi Lender Thank you for your 5* rating and believe you enjoyed food service and ambient. As I have to address this we are little pricey because we use all fresh product then frozen one. so you pay for the quality. I am sure you can tell the difference by taste. Thank you
