Service was beyond slow. Pizza was soggy and tasteless. Cute place but don’t bother.
This restaurant is beautiful; it’s decorated with wood, dim lighting, antler chandeliers, fireplaces, and moose and deer heads. Very wintery and cozy. But instead of staying true to their ambiance, they played loud techno music all night. So loud, that I was hard to hear my date. We ordered the kale salad, which was good, and the ham and onion pizza. The water from the mozzarella, ham, and onions was too much for the dough, so the pizza was soggy and sloppy. I’ll try this place one more time. But if they have techno and mediocre food again, I won’t return.
The food was good. We enjoyed the burrata salad and two pizzas. The only downside was the overpowering smell of weed from the neighbors on the sidewalk, as we were seated outside.
The place is really nice and the food is delicious. Don’t miss the empanadas
food was great, service might take some time even when it’s not busy.
Awesome place for a family dinner, love the fact that ppl wasn't smoking around. The food is amazing. It takes a little bit long to server's to appear but it's manageable.
Service needs to improve (friendly but slow). Food and place are good.
The pizza was outstanding: the right thickness, the right cooking point, the right kind of mozzarella. I am Italian so I know what an authentic pizza tastes like, and the one I ate at Shelter's was as good as a true Italian pizza.
Great food! Great variety of options for many people.
No Air conditioning!
Las empanadas están buenísimas !!! Gran lugar, recomendado
We liked it
Service was poor
Had to get up and find people to help us but restaurant wasn’t even busy.
The steak was amazing - can’t wait to go back and get it again
Love this place. Love the food and great ambiance. I visit this place once per month and always have a happy experience
Cool vibe. Mediocre food. Service boarding on the incompetent.
We love this restaurant! Food is amazing and the service is really good.
I have been to Shelter a number of times. Their pizza and empanadas are great! Even more amazing are their cocktails!! I went last week and was happy to see they offer outdoor seating. Being a beautiful day, we opted to sit outside. However, it took over 20 minutes just for someone to take our drink menu. We waited so long that we ended up giving our orders at that time too. The wait staff was MIA and it was really disappointing because we wanted to order another round of drinks but were unable to. We ended up asking for the check when we finally received our meal because we were tired of waiting around. The food was also a let down from previous visits. Hope it was just an off day for them, but I don't know if we'll go back.
It is unfortunate that this is a first and last time we choose this place to dine out. We came to this place because we looked up their menu online and we were very interested.
But when we arrived and sat down we realized that it was completely different(not the same menu at all). The waiter told us he knew of this and actually spoke to his boss a few times but said that he was not computer savvy and it has not been updated for a while. The food was good and the ambience was OK but our service was far from service
It appeared that the waiter was avoiding coming to our table. It was unfortunate because the place looked warm and cozy and the decor was cool
It was not a total package food was good ambience was OK service was poor
The Itialian wiser was pleasant; however the lady who told us that she needed the table when she brought the ck was not even diplomatic about it. Will not return there.
Found Shelter on Open table as I was planing to meet some friends for lunch, the pics looked so I booked. The staff was super friendly and the food was very good. We sat outside but the place is really cook on the inside too so I will return for sure.
AMAZING atmosphere. The pizza was INCREDIBLE. Would highly recommend if hanging out in Brooklyn for the day!!
Everything was absolutely delicious. I strongly recommend their empanadas and their pizza. High quality ingredients and authentic Italian style.
Great food and ambiance and best service .. love it.
Cool place, nice food. Had a great evening.
One of the meals came out after the other two finished eating. They told us it was because they had to make more eggs and that takes 20+ minutes. Hard boil eggs take 5 minutes to make. 10 max.
Was great! Great food, service was good, hostess very nice and accommodating.
Very disappointed in the service. It was 30 minutes before our drink order was taken. The main course arrived before drinks and appetizers. Drinks were finished for over 15 minutes before waitor came back to see if we wanted another round. At one point the waitor reached into the middle of the table to light a birthday candle for another table. One member of our table went outside to smoke and his full drink was taken.
Food was pretty good but the service was bad. The restaurant itself is very cool.
Very rustic decor, good food, although loud, nice spot for a date.
Even if my truffle pizza wasn't a good experience (too fluffy and burned), I will try again because I really do like the restaurant. Nice place, but I hope the food is also good the next time.
The good- Pizza and salad was tasty. The restaurant is rustic and beautiful. I was seated right away. Service was quick.
The bad- Strong smell of wood burning fireplace inside- my clothes smell like fireplace smoke a bit. Server was prompt but not very friendly. Prices were high considering that it’s pizza.
This is now the second time I made reservation and they didn’t honor. Very unorganized.
Went for dinner Saturday night. First time there. Bring customers back on Wednesday night. The only problem I have with them is that I live in NJ. Hoping they open here.
The worst restaurant in Williamsburg. The kitchen took it upon themselves to cook the food to their liking and make replacements for ingredients and side dishes mentioned on the menu. Management was completely absent and never addressed any of our issues. Our waitress seemed shocked that we wanted what we actually asked for and what was described on the menu.
One of my favorite spots in Williamsburg. I gave it 4 stars only because the music is a little too loud. Felt more like a lounge than a restaurant. If you go there just to hangout at the bar for drinks and a good time, then the loud music is perfect!
I am so conflicted about Shelter. Part of me loves it, and part of me hates it. Well, maybe not exactly hate...
The huge fireplace is such a great touch.. but know that you will leave and your clothes and jacket will reek and need to be cleaned, or aired out for days possibly weeks depending how close to the fire you are.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the music, but it is a bit loud, so it can make conversation hard. It feels more like a chill lounge where you should be having drinks, not exactly a place you would go for dinner?
The food and drinks are great, but if they are busy, be prepared to be ignored by your server.
So, would I recommend it, and would I go back? Probably... but maybe with some hesitations.
Fun place with great pizza.
We have been to Shelter many times and they are so nice! Food is delicious! We love to seat by the fireplace... Very cozy!
