Ambiance was awful. We were seated in the newly renovated ship room and it felt like we were eating in a school cafeteria. So not what we were expecting. Our waitress, Lexi, was really good and is very sweet. The food was pretty good but not exceptional.
Food was terrible. Steak was very tough. Potatoes were hard, not cooked thru.
It was just ok. Not sure I would go again.
Came here to eat on Thanksgiving because the Thanksgiving menu looked really good. We were seated immediately upon arrival in the newly remodeled back room. It's very nicely done. All 4 of us had starters (lobster bisque, mushroom bisque and beet salads) and a main entree (Salmon, Sauerbraten, turkey special, Hungarian beef tips) - everything was outstanding. We also had a few of the specialty drinks instead of dessert. They were also great! Was very impressed with the whole experience. We'll definitely be back.
Great meal and excellent service. The new decor is very bright and clean.
We traveled quite a distance to celebrate our 59th AnniversaWe were were disappointed to not be seated in one of the nicer dining rooms where we dined before. The food and service were up to par. We were the only diners there.
Originally had made reservation for dining room, but enjoyed the casual atmosphere of the bar, so chose to eat there. Plus, the bartender, Fran, was great, made recommendations & easy to talk with. Food was excellent. Started with coconut shrimp, very tasty, cooked perfectly. Entrees of Ribeye and Filet were cooked as requested and very tender. Enjoyed topper of Brussels sprouts, also delicious. Ended with crème brûlée, served cool, but very good.
Never felt rushed, enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Definitely will return.
Cute renovation and food was very good! We enjoyed our lunch there!
The inside was modernized which was OK, just not what I was expecting.
The service was wonderful. And our waiter was great. That didn’t make the food taste good. The drinks, one a specialty, drinks were a couple of the worst I’ve had in a long time. Our appetizer sauces were tasteless. One was cocktail sauce and tasted like straight watered down ketchup. The sauces with the oysters were similarly sad and the oysters were not not detached. I had the swordfish, it was over cooked. My dining partner had a passable entree but overpriced for the quality . Best part of our marl was getting desert elsewhere. I was extremely disappointed with the dining experience.
Toughest steak I’ve ever experienced. Waitress was accommodating
First time I had been back to Ship Inn in many years. I enjoyed the seating that we were given and the food and server were very good. Sat the bar with friends afterward and had a very nice evening out! Will go back again. Go and give it a try I think you will love it.
We were disappointed because we were hoping for a restaurant close to home as a recurring spot. There is no ambiance, it felt like we walked into a diner with very bright lighting, tables small & close together, no tablecloths or carpeting to cushion the sound which was loud, although at times we seemed to hear faint music.
The mushroom soup was outstanding but the rest of the food was mediocre.
Beautiful place. I had the stuffed pork for $28 and it was very dry-ugh! Loved the mushrooms soup. Waitress was good but not super attentive (especially for the prices). We heard the kitchen staff yelling at each other.
Dining at the Ship In was delightful. The food was excellent and our waiter, Harry was great!
Had the Octoberfest specials. Hungarian dinner had a slight taste of being burnt. The red cabbage and noodles were outstanding. Coconut shrimp delicious. desserts are excellent.
Environment: Great improvements. Bright and cheery. Still a sense of modern excellence.
Crab cake was great the bisque was good. I had a wedge salad it was great and chicken tenders was good . Had the shrimp cocktail it was just right and the pretzel was great with mustard sauce
Nice, bright atmosphere. Food was very good. Nice choices from Chicken Wings to Salmon and/or Steak. Will definitely be back.
Good was not great. The steak was very salty and they put sweet pasta sauce on a crab cake
The filet was incredible. Wines by the bottle very reasonably priced. Hadn’t been here in years and I was highly impressed with the new atmosphere and the food.
Sat in renovated area which was beautiful! We ordered mushroom soup and the fried Brie which were great! We also had the swordfish and steak with potatoes and Brussels sprouts from restaurant impossible show, both very good. We each ordered the homemade desserts (pecan pie and English toffee). The English toffee was hands down the best. Service was great and pumpkin White Russian was spot on. Overall really enjoyed it… love the update!
The service was very good. Our food was good! Fish and chips were delicious. Mushroom soup was very good! The Pretzels are a must have! The rest of the food, crispy Bree, cheese steak and desserts were ok.
Our dinner experience at the Ship Inn was excellent, in the quality of the food, the helpful service and the lovely refurbished restaurant.
We met friends for dinner and the noise level was high. While the service was great, the food was just okay. It was rather expensive for what they serve.
Poor service, food not as expected, special Oktoberfest menu was ordered but not received. Veal was over cooked. Wanted to give them another try after the renovations, have dined here for many years but they have gone way down on service and quality. Will not be back.
The Octoberfest menu was great. Best sauerbraten I have had in years.
Thought they ambience was down scaled too much from previous visits. No table clothes was a bit too much like a Denny's.
Probably be back as everything the two of us had tasted great.
The bar has a nice warm feeling. Excellent bar tender. We moved to the patio area for dinner which was lovely. Our server was perfect and had a sense of humor along w excellent menu knowledge. Food was delicious. My friend and I both had flounder. Everything was cooked well w nice presentation. The green beans were a bit too soft otherwise our meals were delicious. I will be back.
Everything was great!
We really enjoyed the beauty of the restaurant and it was relaxing. The cocktail list is great and delicious.
Everyone was amazing from the wait staff, chef and owner. After residing in Exton for almost 20 years, I’d never wanted to venture into The Ship Inn. Boy was I wrong for staying away!
The fried Brie to the Korean cheesesteak… muah! so good!
Thanks for a wonderful experience! I will definitely be back!
We saw the restaurant rescue episode about ship inn. After watching the show we were excited to try the “new” ship inn. The service was out standing. The restaurant rescue “make over” is great. Unfortunately, the foo was not what we expected. My wife ordered a burger done medium, it came out well done. The Korean chicken sandwich added as a result of the make over is good but not what I expected after watching the show. Bottom line, with all the other choices of restaurants in the area we probably won’t return.
We were greeted and sat immediately. The decor in the section we were sat was very nice. It had a nautical theme. We were sat at a corner table. We were familiar with the Ship Inn but we’re interested in trying it since seeing Robert Irvine’s visit. Our server was pleasant and explained all of the specials. There was an issue with one of the drinks but was quickly taken care of. The menu seemed odd and the food choices were disconnected. The prices were ridiculous. $18 fish and chips and a $16 flatbread. The soup at $10 a bowl was quite delicious although pricey. The portion sizes did not reflect the prices. Part way through our meal we were feeling very warm and were then told the AC had broken that day which was a 95 degree day. It wasn’t a horrible visit but I don’t believe we will be returning any time soon.
NO BREAD,NO MASHED POTATOES, NO RUSSIAN DRESSING, NO BANANA ICE CREAM ( A SPECIALTY ). UNDERSTAFFED.
We saw this restaurant on Restaurant Impossible and we decided to take a ride. The food was really good and the service was excitement! We will definitely be going back!
Very pleasant experience
It was an absolute fantastic experience. It’s been years since we’ve been there and we were not disappointed.
The crab cake entree is 99% crab. Excellent.
The bar and appetizers are great but the food wasn't good enough.
The menu is kind of strange but we knew that. We had the fish and chips but but they were flounder but again the menu said that but there was more batter than fish. The tops were nice and crunchy however the bottoms were oil sogged. The Korean cheesesteak was quite good and the calamari was very good
Went because we heard Restaurant Impossible had been there to help. Well, I guess somethings are impossible.
Started when we enter restaurant via the door that said dining entrance. Only to find out is wasn’t and had to hunt for the hostess station which was at the back of the restaurant.
Were given a dinner menu only to find out there was a brunch menu. When we asked why other tables had different food, they said “Oh Sorry we gave you wrong ones, but since you ordered it’s too late to change”.
Got our food. Was bland, even though we got the TV specials.
When it did come out, really a long time, it was lukewarm.
Waitress had sweat pouring down her face, just hoped nothing dripped onto our plates.
Found hair on two of our plates.
When complained to waitress she took plate and brought it back, put it on the table and said sorry. Won’t charge you for it. Said dishwasher quit and everyone had to chip in.
Complained to Manager, once we found him. Never apologized and said he knew and took it off our bill.
Robert Irvin would have been embarrassed to have his name associated with such poor product and sweaty service.
