Several cuts of prime and dry aged meats, a diverse wine list of rare and contemporary vintages, modern and traditional side dishes and homemade desserts are available. We have the seafood you would expect at the shore and an ocean fresh raw bar. Our highly trained bartenders serve a variety of domestic and imported specialty beers, inventive cocktails and other liquors. Whether it is an after work or dinner drink at our bar or a meal to celebrate and remember, Shipwreck Point is the destination of the sophisticated diner.
**Complimentary Valet Friday and Saturday
Really packed in and noisy. Food always reliably good.
Great location, you can see the fishing boats going out for the night. Food was great. Service perfect, not on top of you but also not vacant. Will definitely go again.
Kevin our server made my birthday dinner extra special. Fabulous service. Food was great, steak cooked to perfection. Will definately be back
Great food. Relaxing. Nice wine list. Good service. Very enjoyable.
I have been coming here for years and for the first time it was the worst food I ever ate, I ordered the ribeye special and it was the worst cut of meat I ever had for $42 I would of expected it from longhorn steakhouse not Shipwreck. I also had the vanilla bean mashed sweet potatoes and they were so laced with nutmeg I couldn’t eat them. My fiancé ordered a filet mignion and it came out under cooked after stressing to them well done and her spinach salad was smothered in dressing to the point it wilted all the spinach. They also need to address the large cracks at the front walk where my fiancé heal got caught and she fell and skinned her knees. We will never go back again
Everything was wonderful.... food, service, ambiance... looking forward to going back!!!
This was our 3rd visit, first being great and it's gone downhill over the past couple of years. the portions are enormous and not plated well, just thrown on plates! We were not advised that it was a limited menu for "Valentine's" weekend so major disappointment for all of us.
The menu was a Valentine's day menu which featured mostly fish which was fine for me but my wife was expecting steak and seeing it is advertised as a steak place that was disappointing. It was very loud and the tables for 2 are right next to each other so even if it's loud you can join in with your neighbors conversation, which we did.
Very good experience on Valentine's day.. only thing was I thought we were supposed to get a complimentary glass of champagne
Went Valentines Day always excellent food and ambiance great every time we go highly recommend the food and great service.
A beautiful quiet evening with attentive staff and delicious food.
Ended up sitting at the bar place was cold ( temperatures) food was good - the bartender spilled a drink on me glass fell over on the bar and splashed wine in my face and on my shirt - he wiped it up and didn’t say anything - owner wasn’t at the end of the bar eating a pretzel no one said anything - we ate and left don’t think we’ll go back
Have been going to this restaurant since its original opening and kept going back after Sandy reopening. This is the first time in a year or so that we have been and I was surprised to read so many negative reviews, but, myself, my wife and two friends went there last Thursday to celebrate my friends birthday. the service, as always, was excellent, but, food not so good. I ordered NY strip special and my friend ordered filet, both to be cooked medium, they came out medium rare, I ate it anyway and it was the toughest piece of meat I have ever come across, my friend John took his home to cook more. My wife and Betty ordered Coquille St. Jacques that was supposed to be served in a bread bowl, it came outin a plain plate.
I wont go back until I read at least 90% excellent reviews
Food was good for the value. Service not attentive, had to ask for water several times
another perfect birthday celebration
Always a outstanding experience. Great Service Great Drinks Great Food.
everything was good but the waiter reached across my plate 2 times to pick up something. very rude. I waitressed for years at the old mill inn and I would have been fired if I ever did that.
Outstanding prime rib and also enjoyed the complimentary appetizers. Excellent selection of wine and the service was nothing short of excellent. Enjoyed the view of the boats going in and out of the inlet too. We’ll be back.
The food was very good but I felt it was too pricey for what we ordered
Food and service is always very at Shipwreck Point.
Christmas Eve dinner ruined. This was one of our worst restaurant experiences. Our server was inattentive, everyone's meals were salty, and modifications to meals were also not done as asked. The shrimp cocktail was overly watery and not worth the price; actually, none of it was. There was an overly obnoxious table next to us and management did not do anything to try and make the situation any better. The whole restaurant was upset. Never going back.
This is a nice restaurant however the seevice is VERY slow, the food was good not great & not worth the price. Tables are stuffed together which I HATE the fact that people are on top of eachother. This was our second time there & we wont go back
We will not be returning to this restaurant. First there was no valet. The appetizers were dreadful and had to be sent back. My seafood combo was terrible. I could not find any lobster for the hefty price and the scallops were not cooked correctly. The chef leaves much to be desired. Our waiter never asked us hoe our food was. I think he knew what the answer would have been
The food was very good and my NY strip as good as any I have had at any upscale Steak restaurant. The place got a bit too noisy in the small dining room. But when we first arrived the ambience and view of the inlet and ocean was simply beautiful.
We have been to this restaurant many times over the years and it was a favorite of ours although we have not been there recently. We had a late afternoon reservation to celebrate my Sons birthday. We were the ONLY diners for the entire 2 and a half hour meal and we arrived well after opening...We were 5 diners. We ordered 2 strip steaks, a filet mignon, Coquille St Jacques, Mac and Cheese and Creamed Spinach ...we had spinach salads as appetizers..Salads were over dressed but still edible...Steaks were NOT steakhouse quality...They were chewy and dry even though they were cooked to the desired medium ...The Mac and Cheese was spoiled...How do you serve food that is off...REALLY OFF...I’m sure my family thought as they tasted it that it was a cheese that they weren’t use to but my grandson said this is awful I tried it and it was awful..It was spoiled!...My son spent a good portion of the dinner in the men’s room and my husband was sick as soon as we got home...they did not charge us for the 2 $9.00 orders of Mac and Cheese but seemed unfazed that they were serving spoiled food. Word of caution...AVOID this place...It’s totally over priced for non existent quality....
Service and atmosphere we’re good. This was not the steak I would expect to get from any restaurant let alone a steakhouse. The filet mignon was not a thick buttery cut like most fillets, but rather thin and segmented by gristle. Quite frankly, I would say it was one of the worst filets I’ve ever had But I don’t know how they justify serving it or purchasing it for that matter
Cocktails were delicious, food was fair. Liked the old menu better.
Shipwreck Point is usually one of our regular spots to dine because it’s close to home, had valet, and decent food. On this trip though we immediately noticed some disappointing changes. While the ambiance of a cozy feel and comfortable dining temps were still obvious (two of the reasons I love this place), valet was no longer. We noticed the menu changed and not for the better. My filet was one of the worst I’ve had out at a restaurant. I should’ve sent it back but I was full on the bread (a welcomed change from the popover). The portions were small and prices appear to have increased. I understand there’s a new chef, but I think some changes need to be made before we drop another $200 on dinner there.
The food today was below average. We were always pleased with the dinners here. Something has changed?? Disappointed with the drink pours. Service was slow. We are reluctant to go back.
Very elegant place- service was good they tried for sure. Food was very good, had the 6oz filet cooked to perfection. Mac and Cheese side was to dye for.
We have enjoyed eating at Shipwreck on numerous occasions but will not be going back. The service was excellent but our meal was terrible. How you ruin a steak is beyond me. I hope they can get back on track.
Not this time bad experience
Was my favorite place down the shore
Food was amazing...
The ribeye special was perfect !
Drinks done right & our server Peter was great
It was my boyfriends birthday & we traveled hour & half to come to eat here. Worth the trip
We had been wanting to visit this restaurant. They were participating in restaurant week and we took advantage of it. We were a party of three and ended up ordering the entire restaurant week menu. Everyone enjoyed their selections and they also offer a wine special. The restaurant sits across the street from the Manasquan inlet with large windows to take in the view and our waitress was excellent. We will be back!
Realizing that each night could be different, we just didn’t experience the issues that some reviewers outlined. Service was prompt and attentive (Taylor was great!) and the food was delicious with excellent beef (ribeye, hangar, short rib) and fish (cod). My only request- please get some big ice for the great bourbon choices you have.
Don’t waste your time/money. Took one hour for our appetizers to arrive. Food was terrible. Super loud where you could barely hear the person next to you. Packed us into their one dining area like sardines. Wait staff very friendly and apologetic. We will never go back here.
The meal was subpar, service was slow, place was so noisy you could not hear. I would never go back or recommend it to anyone.
I come here about 6-7 times a year, change of pace from all pizza parlors and fish restaurants in the area. Up until last Friday night I'd say it wasn't bad but now it's just plan terrible.
Even before we ordered there were signals this wasn't going to be a good experience. We were shown to a table that not only rocked on its legs but tend to spin around; we moved ourselves. Ordinarily there is subdued lighting but tonight the lights were full up, like at a night ball game. I asked the waiter why so bright, he said a lot of folks had been complaining that their meat wasn't' cooked like they asked for so they had put up the lights in order to show the customers they were wrong, just couldn't see well in the dark (?) Hmmm 1. We had an 8PM reservation and we asked to see the New Jersey Shore Restaurant Week menu (it was restaurant week), we were told the menu ended at 7PM. Hmmm 2. I asked for a JD on the rocks; I eventually got a glass of ice that someone at the bar had managed to spill some JD into, more of a refreshing summer drink than a cocktail. Hmmm 3. We ordered the French onion soup, it came in the work's smallest crock, more like a coffee cup than a crock; oddly enough the soup spoon was also down sized to match (I guess because a regular soup spoon won't have gotten into the crock's mouth). Hmmm 4. The second course was worse yet. I order the 8 oz filet, medium; I got what had to be a 6 oz filet blackened on the outside and till bleeding on the inside! The carrot "accompaniments" were raw and tasteless while the garlic broccoli rabe was mostly stems and lacked even the faintest hint of garlic.
We had enough, check please!
Oh, I forgot to mention the they no longer serve their signature pop overs, doughy rolls are now available, "we're trying something new" I was told.
It's disappointing but perhaps not surprising, all good things must come to an end and so does the attraction of Shipwreck Point.
The 1 star is for the parking valet.
I ordered stuff clams for an app all it consisted of was breadcrumbs, no clams at all even diced, no flavor. My fish was good and my pumpkin cheesecake. Food was unremarkable.
Both tables on either side of us were wobbly. One couple changed tables.
Really inexcusable in a high end restaurant.
Everything was great
