Food was fine
The setting was nice
Slow service but very pleasant. Food was good and decent size portions. I would go back but not if I was in a hurry!
Overall good, but the kitchen was a little heavy handed with the salt. Great staff and super decor
Very pleasant light airy open flexible dining area on ground floor, mezzanine looked a little more squashed in interesting building. Greeting, help and service very good esp from woman with anchor tattoo, thank you. Food; starters on small side, mains good size and quality. Limited wine and beer and ran out of only draught lager! But if I wanted to meet others somewhere in Victoria area for reasonable quality and good value, not in a chain and not a pub, I will go there again and also perhaps when they have some music on.
This was the first time of eating at Sicily. I met up with 2 friends that I met in Italy in the Summer. We liked everything about the Restaurant and am returning in December for another get together.
Went for an early evening meal which was really good. Good value for money and house white was excellent.
Large group of us (10). Had to wait a long time between mains and starters. They were ordered at the same time.
The upstairs dining area was overheated and we were all uncomfortable.
The mains, when they finally arrived were all mediocre.
The starters were better than mains.
The seafood pasta wasn't anything special, but it was fine for the price.
The raised dining areas are rather hot and can become uncomfortable. The tables are close together which makes this worse. The service was reasonably swift but presentation was mixed; the menus were creased and torn and bore the greasy finger marks of the waiter. the starters were good but my pasta dish had clearly pre-cooked and re-heated and almost inedible.
We went to Sicily on Saturday for lunch and the experience was good. The food was nicely cooked and for the price was definitively worth it
We will go back
The service could have been slightly better as even though we booked table we had to wait for it to be ready but not major issue as there was plenty of space at bar to allow us to catch up before meal. Once food was ordered they only came back to the table to clear plates and ask about deserts. The whole evening would of been better if they checked up on us more as for the majority of the time people had empty drinks during the meal. Plus then when we finally did order drinks with puddings we were still waiting on the drinks till after the puddings had been served would of been better if the drinks had arrived first. Other than that was pleasant evening and will be definitely be going back again.
We have been to Sicily a number of times and each time has been as enjoyable as the last. The food is excellent and well priced, the staff could not be more helpful and the restaurant is very baby friendly. It works well whether you want the whole works or just something light with a glass of wine. Wine list good and not overpriced.
Fantastic food in a lovely setting, visited for my birthday and the staff were lovely, even let me order off menu so I had something I really wanted. Would definitely visit again and recommend.
We had a wonderful experience at Sicily! We had nine ladies celebrating and they accommodated us nicely. The staff was excellent and the food was divine!
great food, good value, lovely ambiance and fantastic staff
We were meeting a friend who was visiting Oxford from Spain. The restaurant was the ideal location to meet as he travelled in to Victoria coach station and we travelled to Victoria Mainline Station from north Kent. We had a great time at the restaurant, then took a walk around St James' Park before going to the theatre. Great!
Second time at Sicily and we have already booked for a date in early December! Conveniently
located with friendly attentive service, this restaurant has an extensive menu and we have not been disappointed with any of our choices. Recommended.
A little crowded upstairs. Food was good and generously portioned. Staff pleasant and helpful
Good was lovely, staff very friendly.
The only fault was our table was in the middle of the restaurant and the waiter had to keep squeezing past me to get through.
My friend and I had lunch at Sicily last Saturday and, as always, it was delightful. We had the set menu which is amazing value. The quality of the food is excellent and the portions are very generous. Sicily remains a firm favourite of mine and I dine there frequently with friends and family. A particular asset is that however busy they are, you are never rushed from your table. So often, when dining out these days, you are allocated a 2-hour time slot (at best!) and it brings the lunch or dinner to an abrupt end. Many thanks to all the team who looked after us so well. See you soon!
A great little Italian right in the hart of Victoria. Great for a quick bite to eat or a group looking for good Italian at reasonable prices. Lovely staff.
We were a group of 7 people and we really enjoyed our dinner at Sicily. The service was very good, the waiters friendly and the food especially delicious. The life piano music was another highlight of our evening.
Great evening 50th birthday celebration, found this place by accident last year couldn't get in anywhere.we had a fantastic night then and it didn't disappoint, great night good portions, good value, great food.it was a little quiet for a Saturday night can't understand why ,take that were in Hyde park maybe.
My daughter and I dined at Sicily recently and, as usual, had a lovely evening. The food is consistently delicious and there is a wide range of dishes in all categories - truly something for everyone. The portions are very generous too so make sure you take your appetite with you! The staff are friendly and warm, even though they are always so busy. I have been to Sicily a number of times and will be going again this weekend - it has become a staunch favourite of mine and is always excellent value. Looking forward to returning this Saturday lunchtime!
We visited when the restaurant was known as Da Scalzo, and decided to come back as we enjoyed it.
However, this time it was not such a nice experience. The service was really really bad, as we had to keep asking for things at least twice. The starters were very poor and were almost just "thrown" at us when served. Mains and dessert were ok.
Needless to say we will not be returning
This restaurant is ideally situated across the road from Victoria Coach Station. Four of us met for a midweek lunch get together and none of us had frequented this restaurant before.
On entering we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. From that point the service was excellent - friendly, helpful staff who made our visit really enjoyable. There is a good choice of dishes and the food was in good sized portions and delicious. We will certainly return - maybe for dinner to hear the live jazz pianist!
This restaurant, located near the Victoria Coach Station, can be appreciated from two perspectives. From a purely culinary point of view, the portions are small for this rank of establishment, with the lobster linguine scanty in both crustacean and pasta. From the point of view of a night out, the live jazz/big band crooner created a fun, boisterous atmosphere, and so if this appeals, this could be a great place for a big meal with friends.
Had dinner at Siciliy with my wife and my mother last Friday.
The food was a mixed bag with a tasty chocolate dessert and okay pizza offset by a unpleasant caesar salad (odd taste + soggy croutons). The wine wasn't good.
The service also wasn't great. We struggled to attract attention on a number of occasions and the waiter misunderstood our pizza order.
The ambience was ok although the live music was a little loud and the lighting a bit severe (very bright in the middle of the restaurant, and dark around the edges, where we were sat).
All in all, a disappointing dining experience.
Heard good things about Sicily, but was disappointingly ordinary. Better food and value available in the area.
Went for lunch with a friend on the bank holiday Monday and really enjoyed it. We both had 2 dishes from the fixed menu, which also was really good value for money. Food was tasty and nicely prepared, service was friendly and discreet and the atmosphere was really nice - so can only recommend this place.
Great food as always and very generous portions. The staff are very friendly and courteous but service was rather slow on this occasion as the restaurant was so busy - clearly very popular and I understand why!
I'll be back soon!
I'm alwaya worrid about eating near main transport hubs, so it was pleasant to find this place. Good food, nice service, good wine list and a quirky venue. Well worth a trip if you are in the area
Sicily is a thoroughly enjoyable experience whether for something special or just a get together with friends. The food is excellent and is pretty authentic so not anglicised!! The staff are delightful and cannot do enough to ensure you have a great evening with them. We would all highly recommend it and this is from a couple who spend a week every month in Italy!!
My family and I dined at Sicily for my daughter's special birthday and we had a wonderful evening. 3 members of my family are vegan and the staff / chef were very accommodating with our dietary requirements. There are already a number of suitable dishes for vegetarians and vegans but the chef adapted a couple of the dishes without compromising on the quality and variety. We are regular diners at Sicily, which is in my neighbourhood, and it remains a family favourite. The menu is extensive and the portions are generous - you won't leave hungry! The atmosphere is very cosy and welcoming, as are the staff - a lively place to visit for almost any occasion. We'll be back soon!
It was a perfect dinner, there is always room for improvement, but I could not name it!
Staff friendly, welcoming and helpful. Good choice on menu, food was excellent and portions were generous. 5 of us were in the party and everyone was very happy with their meals.
Excellent tapas meal (not our first at Sicily). House wines perfect for the food. Super staff. Lovely décor and ambiance but ridiculously hot on the mezzanine which is in the roof space (4th May 6pm) with neither ventilation fans nor the air conditioners switched on ....
Next time we will insist on downstairs if this is the case.
The food was plentiful but very basic. There were too many waiters some of whom did not speak English. Although we were using the Taste card with 2 for 1 they did not accept this for sides. The piano was playing so loud we couldn't hear ourselves speak. We wont be back.
We had a fabulous time! Food was great and prices are very reasonable.
Enjoyed our evening at Sicily. Only slight problem was that the waiter appeared a bit hesitant and had trouble splitting our bill. I think maybe he was new. The food was tasty and the atmosphere pleasant as always.
