The space is as appetising as the menu. Situated on the third floor of the hotel, Sika's dramatic floor-to-ceiling glass walls take full advantage of the pyramidal Sugar Loaf Mountain. While on the Terrace, al fresco dining is offered all year around under retractable awnings, comfortably warmed by braziers.
I'd recommend that the menu is reviewed. In particular the choice of starters is poor. The lack of any alternative starters is also poor
Food was delicious but service was poor. Had to to ask numerous times for the same things such as water, drinks.. . Felt the waiter wasn't attentive. For the price of the evening thought the experience would have been better.
We booked Sika for a birthday lunch and were not disappointed. We could not fault anything - the food was superb, the restaurant produced a surprise birthday dessert and the service was incredibly helpful and pleasant. One tiny point, outside the control of the restaurant, was that for most of the time there were very few people lunching there - it affected the ambiance a little. But with some champagne to accompany the meal our spirits could not be dampened. Overall a five star experience and many thanks to Nermina fir helping to make it so.
We have stayed in the hotel the last 3 years each February.
The food in Sika this year was so disappointing and expensive for what you got.
Was really disappointed with it.
The previous 2 years the food was excellent.
Asked could we seat at a later time and we were told no the restaurant was fully booked however we observed plenty of empty seats.
Served a bottle of warm wine when asked to chill we were told fridge wasn’t work all day didn’t leave me with much confidence
Fantastic staff but found the food combinations a little strange for the starters. Found it very hard to pick a stater from the menu, main course and dessert was lovely. Food not very hot was Luke warm but lovely ambience and very friendly staff and beautiful touch if a free Prosecco and mini cake to mark a birthday which was a fabulous touch and very much welcomed.
Excellent service and food. Brilliant staff. Steak was 10/10.
Ambiance was night and staff were friendly . Booking was for 6:30pm and felt that we were being rushed to free up table . Food came very fast and lacked that dining experience. A little pricey , a 7€ supplement on a steak for a set menu of 65€ was a little unnecessary we felt, would prefer if it was just added to the overall set menu price. Overall was nice but a little disappointing. Breakfast was a similar experience. Rushed to free up table and ordered 3 times for a pot of coffee .
Food was good. Service was apauling! Baby in the restaurant for our entire meal despite the 8pm cut off. Wouldn't eat there again
Very disappointed with the food. Portion sizes tiny food very pretentious! Not for the hungry!!
Delicious food, lovely restaurant and attentive service. Overall, a lovely experience.
We had an exceptionally mediocre meal, made all the more disappointing by the incredibly cheeky pricing at 65 quid a head. I never suffer from foie gras guilt but in this instance the poor fowl
Fantastic food but the service did not live up to the food. Loved the view and the setting was gorgeous but they dropped the ball on basic service pieces that should go with a restaurant of this caliber. One special note: the vegetarian tasting was fantastic.
Food was excellent, really delightful meal. Flavour and surprises throughout the menu. Waiting staff were very friendly, only negative is during our main course we were asked three times if the meal was alright. Whilst I appreciate the check in, it was too much. Highly recommend it to anyone. You will not be disappointed
A poor reflection that a meal costs the same price as the hotel room. A side is now classed as a course, the mind boggles. To pay such a price and be underwhelmed by the quality of the food, pubs would serve up better quality that tastes better. So disappointed with this restaurant. Notions and pretense seems to be what they're going for. Such a pity as the hotel is fab. 5star hotel 2star food.
This rating is based on feedback from 5adults during a 40% full restaurant.
The quail ravioli had a rubber/Asian fishcake consistency. One would expect this to be a light and airy dish, but was solid, bland and the purée tasted like a yankee candle scented for Xmas.
The four gras bon bons, was actually served cold country pate style, formed in a chocolate mold.
The scallop dish was very tasty, though the sliced mushrooms (which were delicious) did not seem complementary from a texture side.
Two of us had the braised venison. Which was actually braised venison, then pulled, them reformed into a brick mold and reheated. Dreadful. As dry as sawdust, as flavorless as can be. Sent back uneaten. This is such a sad and sorry way to treat an animal.
The monkfish dish was a little confused, served on an Asian inspired bed of barley(think sweet and sour flavor) not returned, just half eaten.
The sides were delicious and dessert was a hit. Espresso was high quality.
We shared feedback with the restaurant and it was handled well - we will be back and at that time, I will review the stars.
Such a beautiful restaurant and the staff were very pleasant. The food was just ok and I was extremely disappointed that my pork belly start appeared to be microwaved 😩 we had guest for lunch so didn’t like to complain.
Appetizers arrived before our wine. Appetizers finished before wine arrived.
Waiter couldn’t open wine at table and eventually left and a manager arrived back and opened the bottle. We found all Staff were friendly though so important to say we thought it might just be a training issue.
Wonderful food and personal attention. Superb knowledgable and attentive staff. Best location to dine in Ireland for me so far.
New decor very tasteful and a lovely special atmosphere.
Most of the dishes beyond superb. A good wine list.
This was my second time to this restaurant and it will be my last. The first time I was here was 1 year ago and myself and my wife really enjoyed it. Fast forward 1 year and it was quite the opposite. The restaurant was not exactly too busy, in fact it felt that there was certainly more staff than customers there. I found the service to be extremely slow, waiters were not attentive, so much so that I had to leave my seat twice to ask if I can order some drinks for my wife and I. The food itself was only okay, and it was not worth what we paid and considering the over all experience was so poor it definatley felt like a rip-off.
I will not be recommending this restaurant to any of my family or friends and I will not be going back there for dinner again. I have already booked my stay in the hotel in January and we will have our dinner in the bar rather than the restaurant. Really really disappointed in everything with the restaurant.
Fod very good. Room too bright lacks atmosphere. Service very very poor.
Lovely ambience and we were shown a lovely table for 2 but rather close to a group table of about 10 people who were a bit loud and boisterous. maybe couples could be seated away from rather noisy tables if they so wished. Most of the waiters were very efficient except one young man who was hesitant and really looked very inexperienced . attention to detail was great . We will be back for a special occasion in the near future.
Food was fantastic and service was great. A meal to remember.
Terribly over cooked yet cold food. Service was slow and somnolent.
Wine selection was extremely limited with nothing outstanding beyond a low price range selection.
Would not return.
Table at the back of the restaurant so very little ambiance.
I’m presuming because of this the service was slow.
Food was good apart from a medium steak. Charred on the outside, nice pink on the inside...no flavor, no juice. Didn’t eat it.
Told our waitress about it and she said she would send over the maitre d’ But no sign and no one to talk too as we left.
Mentioned it to the reception at check out, didn’t bother her, more poor 5star service. Local pub in Enniskerry did a superb lunch so I highly recommend that for dinner too.
Fab food great choice service really good the chocolate bomb was only amazing yum!
food was nice and tasty. However, this was supposed to be a nice quiet birthday evening and a celebration in a high class restaurant, which it wasn't.
Taking my partner's empty plate while i was still eating, group of very a young staff chatting next to our table which was unfortunately located near their training section and cashier, not having that 5* attitude and education yet when serving food... and a very noisy restaurant (which nobody could avoid that, I understand that) just left a very dissapointing feeling with us. I am not posh but experienced much better service and atmosphere.
One more detail, during Sunday breakfast we got a piece of toast which had a quite noticeble mould on it. When pointed it to a very young waitress, she took it away with not very bothered attitude and brought us a new plate of toasts with words "sorry about that" and left. I want to say it can happen (mouldy toast) but I just can't justify it in 5* hotel.
No salt on the table is fine as long as the food is properly seasoned. In this case, the fish was underseasoned and the skin was not crisp. We were also ignored by the wait staff while they worked to clear tables for breakfast. We were not asked if we wanted coffee at the end of our meal, and our wine glasses were left empty for 15-20 min during the meal, and we had no access to pour ourselves as the wine was taken away to chill in a shared wine bucket away from the table. Overall, poor service.
Super night great location, great food and great atmosphere. Well worth trying
food was good, but menu was just plain, nothing more special than in simple pub,
on the webside sample menu was venison which is rather special but in real menu was just steak
Absolutely the best meal that I've ever had. Xxxxxxxxxx
Both the food and the service were very good, along with the wine choices for dinner. Would not have an issue recommending the restaurant to anybody.
Superb location with very attentive staff and wonderfully presented and tasty food!!
Enjoyable experience overall. Would recommend. Service was excellent.
Beautiful venue and food
Food and service excellent. Views of sugar loaf amazing. Definitely worth a visit
Absolutely fantastic food and service all top notch, will definitely return
Perfect dining experience. Fabulous staff. Looked after well
The prices have increased considerably and the quality of food has decreased considerably. The beef was dry and had clearly been sitting under lights for some time as were the potatoes. Not acceptable for the prices being charged which are on par with some excellent rated restaurants. Having eaten here a number of times we won’t be returning
Absolutely lovely food, delightful service , bright airy spacious dining space, not noisy, beautiful views, all in good experience, maybe a little bit pricey, but can't wait to go back,.
