Silk & Grain
All our steak is supplied by J. Gilmour, an independent family run butchers based in Scotland.
Our wine list is specially designed to complement the food variety on our menu and boasts wines from all over the world.
This was booked for a company meal and everything was great, we just didn't have the best table layout and the music was a bit loud (but we could've been near a speaker!)......otherwise all good.
Decent food, and £5 Fridays corkage is a winner. Atmosphere is still a bit ‘pub’ even upstairs but overall very fair.
Went straight for the chateaubriand to share. Cooked to perfection, side dishes very good. Service excellent, not too much, but there when you needed it. Not rushed either. Will go back.. Refreshing in London to get good service and food these days...
Been here a few times now and staff are great and accommodating. Would definitely recommend it for food and drink and a nice atmosphere.
The unfortunate thing that let this restaurant down was us having to wait nearly 1 hour for our food to turn up!
We were not kept updated on where our food was, and I had to get up from the table to go over to the waitress to ask her where it was, highlighting to her that we had been waiting nearly 1 hour. She responded that she would find out for me with no apology.
When our food finally arrived there was no apology whatsoever with how long it had taken. All we had ordered was steak, chips and 2 vegetable sides!
I asked the waitress why the food had taken so long and she said that it was unfortunate that our order went in just after a large table which was what the delay was, though the large table was a group of 6! She then finally apologised!
As our food was so late we were rushed to eat it as both myself and my Client had other appointments we needed to get to. We usually would have had liked to have stayed after eating to have a coffee, but had to sadly leave hastily.
It was not the most relaxing of meals and being forced to time watch.
While my colleague liked her dish, I and our other colleagues had the burgers and they were tasteless and overcooked. Poor quality of meat. Big disappointment
Nice venue for dinner
Small menu which is ok, however main item we picked they didn't have!? On a Friday night. Plus they never told us this when we were given menus.
Here’s for my wife’s birthday and decided to take our kids, both 16 & 12. They absolutely loved the steak, my 12 year old said, that’s the best steak he’s ever had!!!
There you go, and that’s from a 12 year old..
The waitress, if only I git her name, was helpful and polite. She was excellent
We were not advised the kitchen was closing so missed the opportunity to try Desserts.
How difficult would it have been to tell us that the kitchen was closing soon....
The food was amazing, as well as the drinks. The waitress was very friendly and found us a table away from the noise downstairs. A bit dark but very cozy. I actually proposed during that dinner! Thank you!
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and one of the best steaks we’d enjoyed for a very long time.
Very loud, would not recommend rib eyes, was happy to be upstairs as it was a little quieter.
The tomahawk steak was delicious and was more than enough for the three of us to share. The meat was cooked beautifully and tasted so good. The staff were very attentive and knew exactly what was in the meals and nothing was too much trouble.
Took my friends here for our last dinner in London, and it was a great choice. Delicious steaks, sides, and sauces and excellent drink deals with a variety of G&Ts. Will definitely keep Silk & Grain in mind during my next visit to London.
Great steak- we shared the chateaubriand with a couple of sides. Excellent cut of meat - very tasty and perfectly cooked. Very friendly and chatty waitress.
Fabulous service, attentive without being overbearing- food as expected was excellent.
Good location , good choice of food and very good service
Steak was cooked to perfection, and service impeccable.
Meat was over cooked. Quinoa had a bucket of salt in it. So much so my wife was ill on the way home.
The reaction ? Well we’re not just going to give you a free chateaubriand (we never asked for anything free). I’m the end a meagre 10% off the food.
A birthday meal ruined by bad food and seriously bad attitude of the manager. The waitress was mortified with embarrassment. She was brilliant. AVOID
Was a bit disappointed as I was entertaining two guests for a business dinner. It was hot up in the restaurant area. It took a long while to get served and the wine didn’t arrive until after the starter had. My guests were polite but I found my steak to be too chewy. I’m not really a fussy person but I can’t honestly recommend. The staff were pleasant though.
Good venue and good food.
Very easy booking through Opentable and given a nice table at the front of the mezzanine. Excellent food especially the steaks and sweets. Attentive waiters and good ambience. Who chose the wallpaper in the toilet corridor!?
Food was really really lovely - excellent waitress, atmosphere was excelelnt for a nice peaceful lunch. Really enjoyed it - will go again. Not cheap, but I think the food warranted it.
Bring your own wine for £5 corkage charge on a Friday is an excellent idea. Lovely steak and excellent service (with a smile) as always.
Good venue for lunch; friendly and efficient service but a bit pricey for the offering. Great dessert!
Lovely food, friendly staff, nice location and free glass of Prosecco for Valentine’s Day.
Excellent steak and currently offering £5 corkage for bring your own wine all day Friday's - fantastic for a restaurant in the centre of town.
steaks and sides were not good at all for that excessive prize.
Excellent food and service
There was a very long wait from ordering the food to it arriving.
Fish and Chips starter, Fish part was very small and the potato fondants were cold.
The waitress did not seem to be interested in working at all, with some unacceptable comments being made. She may have been upset that we were asked three times before the party were ready to order, but we were having a chat and a drink before we were ready to order.
We were unable to order deserts due to the time it had taken for the main course to arrive, and told that the table had to be free at 1500hrs for another booking, at 1450hrs we were given the desert menu and told we needed to order in the next minute or we would not have time!
Food was fantastic, no faults to be found. The service was 5 star with attentive waiters. The menu is slightly pricey but worth the overall experience.
A very impressive establishment. The wait staff offered to combine meals to save us money. The wine selection matched our wine conusuer's pallet which improved the meal. I will be back.
I love this restaurant it is a hidden gem in the city. The steak is great and I love the creamed spinach. Staff are friendly and helpful too.
Met up with a friend who like his steak and a nice bottle of Bordeaux, steak was very good but the wine list was very limited compared with other steak houses, Hawksmoor definitely wins there. Staff were very friendly and helpful and it was a good place to catch up and chat. Bar downstairs was good and busy.
Wonderful evening, great service and even better food. Went with my girlfriend and we were both equally impressed. Drinks are a reasonably priced and the steak was well worth the money.
Definitely going to go back!
Great steaks, prompt and attentive service for a business lunch.
Food was great and the place was relatively quiet as it was a Tuesday. Would definitely recommend
We enjoyed a lovely meal and thought the service was great. Started with cocktails and used the BYOB Friday deal which meant the value was great. Ribeye Steaks were superb.
