Our wine list is specially designed to complement the food variety on our menu and boasts wines from all over the world.
Very easy booking through Opentable and given a nice table at the front of the mezzanine. Excellent food especially the steaks and sweets. Attentive waiters and good ambience. Who chose the wallpaper in the toilet corridor!?
Food was really really lovely - excellent waitress, atmosphere was excelelnt for a nice peaceful lunch. Really enjoyed it - will go again. Not cheap, but I think the food warranted it.
Bring your own wine for £5 corkage charge on a Friday is an excellent idea. Lovely steak and excellent service (with a smile) as always.
Good venue for lunch; friendly and efficient service but a bit pricey for the offering. Great dessert!
Lovely food, friendly staff, nice location and free glass of Prosecco for Valentine’s Day.
Excellent steak and currently offering £5 corkage for bring your own wine all day Friday's - fantastic for a restaurant in the centre of town.
steaks and sides were not good at all for that excessive prize.
Excellent food and service
There was a very long wait from ordering the food to it arriving.
Fish and Chips starter, Fish part was very small and the potato fondants were cold.
The waitress did not seem to be interested in working at all, with some unacceptable comments being made. She may have been upset that we were asked three times before the party were ready to order, but we were having a chat and a drink before we were ready to order.
We were unable to order deserts due to the time it had taken for the main course to arrive, and told that the table had to be free at 1500hrs for another booking, at 1450hrs we were given the desert menu and told we needed to order in the next minute or we would not have time!
Food was fantastic, no faults to be found. The service was 5 star with attentive waiters. The menu is slightly pricey but worth the overall experience.
A very impressive establishment. The wait staff offered to combine meals to save us money. The wine selection matched our wine conusuer's pallet which improved the meal. I will be back.
I love this restaurant it is a hidden gem in the city. The steak is great and I love the creamed spinach. Staff are friendly and helpful too.
Met up with a friend who like his steak and a nice bottle of Bordeaux, steak was very good but the wine list was very limited compared with other steak houses, Hawksmoor definitely wins there. Staff were very friendly and helpful and it was a good place to catch up and chat. Bar downstairs was good and busy.
Wonderful evening, great service and even better food. Went with my girlfriend and we were both equally impressed. Drinks are a reasonably priced and the steak was well worth the money.
Definitely going to go back!
Great steaks, prompt and attentive service for a business lunch.
Food was great and the place was relatively quiet as it was a Tuesday. Would definitely recommend
We enjoyed a lovely meal and thought the service was great. Started with cocktails and used the BYOB Friday deal which meant the value was great. Ribeye Steaks were superb.
We arrived late on a Friday night, after being sent away from another nearby restaurant after being refused service due because of an allergy. Our waitress was incredibly kind, reassuring and thorough with passing on the allergy notice to the kitchen. The steak and chicken we ordered was outstanding and it completely made our evening. Will be returning soon!
Excellent - Serloin steak was out of this world !!!
A really lovely restaurant and the waitress was brilliant
Great service and good food. We didn't have loads of time and the staff promised that we didn't need to worry. They were absolutely right and the food came quick as a flash. It was super tasty and filling too.
Will go there again for a lunch. Very convenient from Bank and Monument station.
It was quite quiet when we were there and that means the noise was very low. This might be different to when it is super busy but we didn't experience any issues with ambient noise.
Steak was really good. Fries and creamed spinach were a little overly salty.
The place got busy as we starting our main and services became a little slow and noisy level was a little discomfort.....
Waiter forgot to take the overly salty creamed spinach off the bill, but it's not surprising as the place just become really busy.
I would went back for another quick steak dinner but maybe not for a date for try to have a conversation/ celebration.
Great waitress and food
Great steaks in a restaurant with a great ambience. Handy for Bank.
Enjoyed a very good lunch at S&G, restaurant was pleasingly busy but not noisy and the service was first rate. Food was quick and well cooked, and based on the empty plates that went back, my clients agreed.
Excellent for business lunch, quiet yet nice levels of atmosphere from bar, steak was top notch, being very fussy about a perfectly cooked steak it was cooked to perfection, the horseradish sauce was a unique and wonderful sauce option. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Only downside the loos were a bit of a trek but perfectly clean and the quality you’d expect from a premier restaurant. Would definitely recommend and visit here again.
Definately not value for money. There are so many better restaurants that I would rather have gone to. I should have known it would have been more of a spot for business meals then for a date being in the city. The service was outstanding so pity about the rest.
It was not my first time in Silk and Grain but every dinner there is different and always great plesure
Went for a proper lunch with wine and meat. This is a great venue for such an occasion. The restaurant above the bar is small, but has a nice atmosphere. We started quite late and so most other tables were finishing but the service was excellent throughout and there was no hint that we should leave even when there was a shift change in the staff. The steak was very good and well cooked. I found the pepper sauce a little too creamy for my taste but all in all the whole experience was a good one and I would definitely go back. Prices were reasonable for the City and there are wine selections that mean you can enjoy good wine without rationing it and that is rare.
Really enjoyed my lunch in Silk & Grain the staff were really friendly and polite, the steak is one of the best I had.
Food and server (Christina) were excellent.
Good steak and cocktails and very friendly staff. It was quite empty but it was a Tuesday evening
Friendly staff and lovely and relaxed surroundings. Chateau briand was excellent, as were the sides, and well-priced for the quality. Would definitely return.
Great food and service.
Excellent service and good food and fine wine and a popular bar made us return to Silk and Grain and we will do so again.
I booked this restaurant on a whim for my friends birthday as we were going to be in the area and I love steak. This has to be by far the best steak I have ever had. It was cooked to perfection, flavours and all. The mash potato was extremely creamy and I will definitely be going again.
The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Great location for transport links and great value for money.
defo worth a trip.
The service was impeccable. We ordered express menu which doesn't mean they'd usher us out in a hurry :) We shared some sides etc which was confusing but the service staff was so genuinely nice and patient and made sure to accommodate our request. Food was great and plentiful, cocktails interesting, as for dessert, I had food envy for salted caramel fondant my friend ordered. It was Friday night so quite noisy as the restaurant was above the bar with open ceiling.
Excellent location near Bank Station and quiet area upstairs for block booking. Good food and friendly service with just one guest served late for scallops but otherwise 9 out of 10
Lovely place with a good selection of food. Not far from Bank Station. I loved the chairs in the restaurant so comfortable.
We were four work colleagues who came for a 'celebration', but also a 'business meeting' dinner. We had three courses each and were very well looked after by waitress Christina. The food was very nice and there was nothing to complain about. However, there was nothing very remarkable about it either. Although the restaurant upstairs was quiet, there was still loads of noise from the downstairs bar that was heaving with people. That said, the atmosphere was lovely and I would go back. Not a place to talk or for romance though!
